I am bored to death! I need ideas for things to do in bed or around the house that require little energy, but entertainment. Anyone have ideas?

I am sooo bored, lol! And, reading is totally out of the question.

Drawing [Smile] If you are able even in crayon. Other kinds of crafts too.

depending on your symptoms:
making bead jewelry, pins, magnets, oragami, scrapbooking, puppets (sock puppets, popsicle puppets) play with clay

(even playdoh or modeling clay - if you want clay you can "finish" sculpey can be baked in the oven)

Make a collage out of old magazines. if you have someone kind enough to bring you flowers you could press them arrange them and put them in a frame.

i would suggest knitting, cross stitch, or embriodery but you said you was trying to be less bored [Big Grin]

--
things that require much less energy - Movies [Smile]
Netflix is awsome... movies sent to you ..you send them back in the mail ... then they send you a new one for whatever subscribtion time you purchased.

also listening to music

of course it depends on the nature and severity of the symptoms what would work for you. I know there was points where I couldn't do anything on the list the pain and fatigue were so bad.

Books on cd. They pass the time very well for me.

You can buy a battery operated portable cd player for $15.00 at any pharmacy or Kmart.

Then you can rent the cds at a Cracker Barrel or join a cd by mail club (aufiotogo is $14.99 per month).

This has been my saving grace.

ugh...my spelling is so bad

audiotogo.com

Some good cds:
The Choice by Nicholas Sparks

Twilight Triology by Stephenie Meyers (For teens but even in my late 30's, I looooved the characters and the love story).

The Senator's Wife by Sue Miller

....and of course you can always sign into the chat room and watch some of us make goofy comments about everything and nothing in particular....

Either listen to soothing music that you like or perhaps find a game site online that would have some games that you may like to play. I know I'll play card games online if I'm just looking for a time passer, without needing to be totally alert.

YOu can always rent video's and watch a movie you have wanted to see. Just anything to pass time that will help you get past the rough moments and distract you.

Yup. The twilight series are great (I am a teen though [Big Grin] ) Hmmm... I can't think of anything really. I'm having the same problem. I used to love to read, but now, even if I am able to, I don't stay interested in any book long enough to finish it, or really get anywhere.

I hope you feel better soon. I was herxing, but am thankfully done with that for the moment. My old symptoms have returned though. The worst of which is my inability to read and watch movies. What else should I do when I'm home sick? [Big Grin] [Roll Eyes]

Hmmm... Ohhh!!! I have an idea- chose a subject, animal, skill, etc, and try and learn as much as you can about it.

working on photo albums if you are too.

are your photos written on: names/ages/YEAR TAKEN

HOW ARE FOLKS RELATED TO YOU?

cutting out blocks for a quilt

cutting out FLEECE SCARVES for Christmas gifts, etc or for the needy AND/OR CANCER FOLKS who have lost their hair to chemo!!
*******************************

same other ideas listed on top...

typing up memories of family members and giving that to them on their birthday/anniversary/christmas, etc. along with some photos of those events!
********************************

best wishes for getting better so you aren't confined to bed! [group hug] [kiss]

Wish I could help you and me with that. Been trying to find stuff to do since coming down with this.

My arms are too weak so drawing or coloring does not work for me...plus the drain on the brain is an obstacle.

I have my computer next to my bed so I play games on line...easy one's.

For a long time, that even made me feel sick but in time I am doing better.

I watch movies when able..but also need lots of quiet time so can't watch a movie whenever i want to.

I am so thankful for my power chair. I can get in it and go for a cruise at times to just help for a short time to take my mind off of the lyme.

It is tough. I usually just have to wait it out and be thankful for the times when I can do more.

I keep thinking about a program for the computer that would allow me to draw or color...but haven't looked into it.

On another message board kn and I both frequent, she asked if she could call me ... I'm old and a friend! Now I know where she got the idea! [lol]

Buy whole seasons of shows like Grey's Anatomy, etc. and just watch show after show.

I tried watching 24, but had to limit how many episodes a week as that keeps your adrenalin flowing, LOL.

Post on message boards.

Watch the clock all day till Lyme chat starts.

Go to the gym, lift weights for five minutes, then come home .... just the trip there and back is enough exercise for a herx-day!

But, yeah, I'm with ya', reading was out of the question! I LOVE reading and it was torturous that I was sick in bed all the time and couldn't.

Six! No...that's not why I wanted to call you!! LOL!!!! [lol] [lol] [lol]

I wanted to call you because I had some questions! [Big Grin]

Also, calling people is really exhausting, so that's usually the last thing on my list.

And, I DO watch the clock allllll day until the chat starts! LOL!

These are all great ideas...keep 'em coming!

Pile a bunch of magazines on your bed and get a scissor and glue stick and some paper. Cut out images and words, make little collages. You know, dogs wearing the latest outfits, poems, ransom notes! Abstract art. A "vision map" of stuff you want in your life. Be silly, be a kid again.

Hey girl, you could e-m my daughter!

...if your hands can type.

You have our address.

OR, you could write out your Lyme journey, or write thank you notes to special people in your life, etc...

Hang in there. You'll get over this hump.

When I'm herxing I have so little energy that I nap and spend most of the time in bed either sleeping or watching TV.

Then when I'm really rested I can come on the computer for a short time before going back to bed.

I usually don't have enough energy to do much of anything that is actually productive.

Hey knshore, how are you feeling this week?

Posted by bejoy (Member # 11129) on :

Surf YouTube and Google Video. Especially the ones on funny pets.

You can also learn things if you want to watch Nova or Brittanica videos online.

Download episodes from This American Life from National Public Radio, or listen to This I Believe from NPR.

If your hands are working at all, get a round knitting loom and some yarn and make hats.

Posted by knshore (Member # 13451) on :

Tracy, LOL! I have been in bed herxing for quite a few weeks now, so I was needing new ideas. I LOVED the part about the coconut! [lol]

I'm going to bookmark this thread. [Smile]

learn a second language by listening to cd's

watch all the best pictures from the past 20 years

Watch your favorite movies from high school then go online and google old class mates names

my favorite-herx outside. its much better when you can watch the clouds roll by and listen to the birds sing.

Posted by Tracy9 (Member # 7521) on :

OH, Kass, I didnt' know you had been in bed for weeks! Dang, I JUST today came off an 8 day in bed herx. We could have laid in bed and watched movies together! If only there weren't 3500 miles between us!

Have you seen "Under Our Skin" yet? I'm losing track of who has and hasn't seen it. Let me know, we just got it and it ROCKS. If you haven't seen it, I'll send it to you.

Love ya!

[Big Grin]

Yes Tracy, I have seen Under Our Skin...it's AMAZING!

I still seem to be herxing pretty hard. No energy to do much of anything. Doesn't help that it has been over 105 for a few days... [Eek!]

Dmbfan, I'm in High School! [lol] Looking for old class mates is kinda out of the question, LOL! Thanks for the ideas though. [Smile]
