I live in CT, where lyme was first found.

I was diagnosed with Lyme and Erlichiosis(sp?) back in July of 2007. I developed the stiff neck, the bullseye, and anxiety. I was on Doxy for 4wks.

Just two weeks ago I went to the dr's again to check up on why I was feeling so run down. He ran blood tests of all sorts and told me the levels were high and positive again w/ the Western blot.

To my understanding, it is another case of Active Lyme. I am on Doxy again for 21 days. I haven't gotten or seen a bullseye, however my symptoms are worse. Here they are:

* Anxiety
* Heart Palp.
* Muscle Astrophy(sp?)
* Headaches
* Body Aches

Also, I am low on Magnesium and now taking supplements. I am also low on iron, taking slow release for that.

I went to have an Ecco done and had to wear a monitor for a day. Still no word on the results.

NO one I know understands Lyme. I have no support with this disease whatsoever. My doctor confirmed with me saying that I do have an active case, I just don't believe him. Is there a way to tell off a blood test? A way to distinquish an old case from a new one.

You need to get to a better doctor and 21 days of doxy isn't going to do it.
Go to seeking a doctor section because you need a LLMD.

Yes, the doctor can tell from the blood test. Word to the wise, call his office and ask them to fax you a copy of the test results.

And Roadrunner is right, 21 days of abx will NOT cure Lyme. The 4 wks didn't cure it either.

Please begin your search for a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor, LLMD.

I'll contact you by private message.

I was initially diagnosed by my Primary Care Doc-and treated with 3 weeks anitibiotics and pronounced cured.

Two years later I was on disability-due to Lyme disease-it was never cured in the first place.
Still active-still wreaking havoc on my system- ony nobody would admit it was still Lyme Disease.

Finally made it to an LLMD who began treatment aggressively and in earnest-it has once again been beaten down with two solid years of high powered antibiotics.

LLMD says she doubts it ever really is eradicated. so the plan now is to keep my immune system in good shape-and if I relapse-immediately go back on high powered antibioitcs.

LLMD stands for Lyme Literate Medical Doctor. One who is willing to hit it with both barrels- and test for co-infections.

What is the normal treatment for Lyme? I have heard that taking antibiotics for a long period of time is dangerous b/c your body will or might become immune?

To Add to my symptoms-Irritability. I am such a you know what. hahah I am on edge contantly, and really just don't know if it is due to stress or the Lyme.

"Normal" treatment by drs who know nothing about it is 3-4 wks. The lyme has a HUGE chance of resurfacing later....HUGE.

Many here use different antibiotics and resistance is not a big issue. Just killing the spirochetes is!

Have you seen the Lyme symptoms list??
