Talked with a friend who apparently had a small stroke recently. It came on gradually, right side is very weak, but speech is not affected. She had many tests, but nothing indicates a stroke. We discussed the possibility of Lyme. Learned she had a tick bite with short attachment time, no symptoms about 15 yrs ago.
She said she had worked in her yard, found a tick in her navel and immediately went to the Emergency Room. A very stern-faced nurse told her to just take a seat, they'd get to her later. She insisted that the tick should be removed as soon as possible, but the nurse didn't think it mattered.
A man in a white coat walked up and told her, "You're right. Do you want me to remove it?"
She told him "of course," so she pulled up her shirt enough for him to remove the tick. When she thanked him, he said he was glad to help. He's removed lots of ticks from his brother.
She was shocked when he walked back down the hall, picked up his mop and bucket and left.

Sad thing is the housekeeper probably did a better job of tick removal,
Than the doctors would.
Sounds like he had lots of experience.
Do you think her stroke was Lyme related?
Has she ever tested for Lyme?

I have no medical background, but I do think it's very likely that her stroke was from Lyme and/or maybe Bartonella. [New book on Bartonella has muscle weakness in the symptom list.]
She loves to work in her yard and lives in a county that has had cases of Lyme, Bart and Babesia. Had known tick bite.
Stroke-like weakness developed slowly. Results of all tests say "no stroke."
Drs have been told Lyme is not a problem, so they don't consider it as a possible diagnosis.
I gave her info about Lyme, Bart, and testing for TBDs, but have not heard back yet.
Also told her a LLMD in New Jersey (in 1992) told me that Lyme can cause strokes. The spirochetes cause inflammation in the blood vessels in the brain. If they swell enough, blood flow is slowed or stopped.
