After 1 1/2 years and two denials, I am excited to have a favorable decision for ss disability.

I have been awarded full disability based on neurologic lyme disease, headaches, and depression.

[woohoo]

It makes me mad that I now have to depend on the government. My lyme was caught early and I was formerly a very active healthy 27 year old.

If only the 30 days of doxycyline really worked.

At least this will resolve some of my financial stress!

congrats !!!

how did you accomplish this ???

First I got a lawyer who was familiar with lyme.

And all my docs kept excellent records.

I continually had ongoing neurologic assessments.

Including visits to my neurologist, neuropsych testing, and testing at neuro day treatment. (I went to occupational therapy for almost a year when I was diagnosed with post lyme.)

My counselor also kept notes of my ongoing fatigue, attention and concentration problems, depression, anxiety, and headaches.

With SSDI they have to relate your condition to another since there is no category for lyme.

Mine happened to fall under neurologic impairment.

LA, CONGRATS [bonk] [bow] [group hug] [kiss]

is it retroactive? now you only have 6 months left before you can get medicare too.

took me 5 yrs. of hell and 2 claims before I WON my 2nd one since my lawyer of 4 yrs. quit me!

Congrats to you!! I was awarded just a couple of weeks ago myself.

I was very thankful, it only took me 4 months using Allsup, thank God.

BettyG- You must be such a strong person to have been dealing with this illness for so long, and then to have the added stress of years of denials and lawyers bailing on you.....

and yes, mine is retroactive to October 2006. I have a picture of my bull's eye rash from that time.

I was in the ER just a few days following the rash with neuro probs. so there was no question when this all started.

Sandiet-thats great it only took you 4 months!

With all the added stress of financial loss and denials, and dragging it out over a couple years, its been hard to focus on gaining my strength and health.

la, on top of 5 yrs. of ssdi; i now have 3 FULL DRAWERS FULL OF MEDICAL FILES, REDUNDANT SSDI PAPERWORK, AND APPEALING UNPAID MEDICAL BILLS WITH IOWA INSURANCE COMMISSIONER.

so much paperwork that it's hart to find specific things!!

goody; you get MEDICARE PROMPTLY!! you will learn as i did that medical expenses can be resubmitted where medicare should pay them.

i didn't know this then, but we have a CHOICE OF MEDICARE 1ST OR SECONDARY!!

i know many folks chose their insurance co. 1st to pay on lyme bills, and medicare 2nd.

just food for thought for you as i didn't know anything about those things back then.

yes, i've had to be strong, and thank you god, i have a wonderful supportive husband of 34 years who has NEVER known me healthy!! [Smile] xox
