Yeah for Canada i am so happy that they have at least one Doc now that believes we have a epidemic with Lyme. I left a message for him and said how happy i am for the Canadians to have such a wonderful Doctor like him.

Sorry! I didn't know he was forced to retire. (big loss for Lymies)

A lifelong career of healing the sick ends
From the Hope Standard newspaper Dec.31st, 2008

Leaving behind a family practice for research and teaching is a little bittersweet for long-time area doctor, Ernie Murakami. He is retiring after 48-years in practice in Hope.

After almost half a century dedicated service to his patients - with a heartbroken air - Dr. Murakami, founder of the Murakami Clinic, is retiring.

Locally, Murakami is acclaimed for his work in saving the acute care ward at Fraser Canyon Hospital when it faced recent closure by the Health Region, as well as continuing to serve the people of Boston Bar in his satellite office, despite his heavy workload.

But at 78 years-old the gentle practitioner is hanging up his stethoscope, in part due to pressure from the College of the Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Murakami came under fire from the medical community due to his staunch support of using long term antibiotics to treat Lyme disease, a disease caught from infected ticks found in forests throughout North America.

``The medical community is split on the proper treatment,'' says the doctor who will now focus on teaching medicine, and lobbying for better diagnosis and treatment on behalf of the many, many patients who have turned to him as a last resort. After years of study, Murakami believes Lyme disease affects every organ in the body so invasively that short-term antibiotic use is futile.

Stacks of letters have been sent in from patients in support of Murakami's successes.

He is very nice, if you go to his website he will actually call you and talk to you. http://drerniemurakami.com/forum/index.php I've talked to him a couple times. Not only did they make him retire but then they topped it off with taking his liscence away. Canada isn't any different then United States.
