I have a 4 year old, 3 year old, and newborn.
I have tested positive for lyme and maybe co0infections.
I am very sick and almost dying.
I'm trying to give my family information to save my kids. Only newborn is showing signs.
Who knows of someone to treat infants/ kids.
I've heard of Dr. J, but does he treat infants? What do I do with a family that doesn't believe me when I tell them that it's passed down to kids?
I need resources for my kids. Please help!

Doctor J DOES treat infants and he will consult with your regular pediatrician via phone consultation. If only your newborn is showing signs, work on that child and yourself first.

If you were just dx and you just gave birth, you should be able to get your regular health providers to at least consider the possibility of a sick newborn.

Better you should find out now than 5 years from now when that kid has been sick the whole time.
You should also post a question in the seeking doctor forum looking for a pediatric lyme literate md in texas.

Hang in there, you are going to get through this.
Stick with your guns, you're the parent. If you know your baby is sick, trust yourself. I had everyone in the world including dad telling me our 3 year old was just a "blue personality" but I KNEW she was ill.

She was treated with 22 months antimalarials and antibiotics and she is fine, great and wonderful today. No delays, no pain, etc.

Who has treated your baby/????

Dr. J?

I haven't been able to take care of myself. And my inlaws are going to take the kids, who don't believe in lyme.

It's a no win situation, cause once I start treatment, I'll be bed ridden, and can't fight the fight for my kids.

Can you please tell me who you went to?

Then get the movie for all to watch.

Also...

Click on the fifth button down that says video's at this site... then go to Congressman Smith's area and click on the first button.

My child was infected at 2.5 years old and we didn't figure out until she was nearly 4. She was treated by Dr. J and she is fully resolved.

My other kids have been evaluated by him and are fine with no treatment recommended.

I agree that you need your family to recognize the seriousness of lyme and the movie Under Our Skin may help. As painful as it is for your kids to go with the grandparents, it would be really good if you can spend some time healing.

If you can get your baby under the care of a local pediatrician in consult w/ Dr. J, then your inlaws will likely be able to implement the treatment protocol. If they know your conditiion, than surely they don't wan thier youngest grandchild being that ill.

I'm so sorry you have so much to deal with, but you are blessed that you had a positive test result. Otherwise, you wouldn't know what is wrong.

I agree with the suggestions given, but also want to highly recommend the excellent brochure "ABCs of Lyme Disease" by LDA. The items have been written by outstanding LLMDs concerning the many ways its possible for LD to affect children.

Keep in mind that only a few symptoms may be present. No one has all of this.

Dr J wrote the first page, "Pediatric Overview", and states that Lyme can be transmitted in utero and through breast milk.
This is concise, easy to read, and written by the best Lyme Pediatrician!!

All the articles in the brochure are excellent.
After your family members read this, they should be more willing to learn more.

Brochure:
On the left, click Lyme Disease Association and go to LD Materials - Brochures.
You can order and/or print.
I recommend that you also order "Lyme{R}Primer".

Any drs working with your family need to read these brochures, especially your baby's doctor.

If the drs have an open mind, give a copy of Dr B's "Diagnostic Hints & Treatment Guidelines...." at www.ilads.org
Click "About Lyme" and then "Treatment Guidelines"
Scroll down to the third item.
It's 37 pages of great info written for drs to use and patients to learn.

Top priority is to ask (or persuade, beg, or convince) your baby's dr to call Dr J for his guidance.

He has treated my grandson and words can't describe how wonderful and caring he is!!
