Hi everyone,

My daughter had an appt and my Son-in-law had to go to work, so I picked up my 3 yr old grandson and we went to school to pick up my older grandson from kindergarten.

We were on our way back, when I had to stop for a school bus.

The girl driving behind me wasn't paying attention and plowed right into the back of us.

I was driving a 2007 Suburban. I felt the impact but none of us budged.

The kids were secure in their carseats and I also had my seatbelt on.

I said "Oh geez!" and my 5 yr old grandson said "What happened?"

I said "someone hit us". He got scared and started to cry.

I calmed him down by telling him that it was ok and everyone was fine.

My 3 yr old grandson was not fazed at all.

I called 911 from my cell phone and called my husband who came from his office several blocks away.

The 22 yr old woman in the other car was not injured either and she quickly admitted that it was her fault.

I was surprised how intact the Suburban was after the impact.

The bumper is quite damaged, but compared to her car...a Saturn....mine wasn't bad.

Her car's hood totally buckled like a triangle. She had plowed right into the hitch on the back of the Suburban.

I had my camera with me so I took pictures.

Her car had to be towed from the scene. I was able to drive away.

It's always an inconvienence when these things happen but I just thank God everyone was ok.....especially my dear grandsons.

It confirms everything that we believe about driving big, safe vehicles, using carseats and seatbelts.

We don't care about fuel economy.........safety first.

Thanks be to God.

Sorry to hear this. Glad you are not crumbled.

One thing, though, about being rear-ended, it is usually a cut and dried case of the other driver being at fault for not paying attention.

Your bills - repair and medical (including cranial-sacral, acupuncture and even massage) should be covered by their insurance.

Be sure to take some adrenal support so the residual shock hormones don't clobber you. Rest, too, against all inclination to just get up and get on with a normal schedule.

I did not take that advice after a minor accident and I was in a a major adrenal relapse for over 6 months. Also, be mindful of your neck for the next couple of weeks. There often is strain there that is not evident from the endocrine chemicals being shot sky high - so don't go rollerblading for a while, okay?

Keebler,

Thanks.

We are going to NYC tomorrow for a few days....so not much time to rest.

What kind of adrenal support do you recommend?

My neck pain is my biggest problem, so the last thing I need is increased neck pain.

I didn't seem injured, but you never know how you'll feel the next day.

Well, that can be a lot of fun. I know I would never pass up diversion, given the chance. Still, if you find yourself needing a massage or a spa treatment, you may be in luck there, too.

Hi - sorry to read this. If you go to a chiropractor at all, they can be good at checking us after car mishaps.

Glad you are safe and your grandkids too!!

Suburbans are big suckers! Everyone in Texas drives them. ( blanket statement! )

Good job on the seatbelts and carseats! [Smile]

Robin,

Thanks for the suggestion!

Lymetoo,

Thanks! We have a Chevy Suburban and a GMC Yukon XL (same thing, really).....LOVE them!

Guess we would fit in in Texas!

Exactly.. if they don't own a Suburban, it's a Tahoe or Yukon!... or a huge TRUCK! [Cool]

Sorry Dek,

But glad it was nothing more serious health wise to all involved.

It is just a hastle, though.

Yeah, if I had the money I'd get a bigger vehicle. I feel the same way about safety. Bigger is better despite the fuel costs.

Hang in there-

Glad your fine,,and your grandsons also,,,

we cant afford to lose you here or that other place you do so much GOOD at!!

Secret be known,,,your trailer hitch absorbed MOST of the impact from crumpling her car more than a square hit.

Moral of story,,put a big bad hitch on the back of your vehicle for protection!!

and a v plow up front,,,no,,, kidding there!!

Never had a big vehicle like that. people always said they were glad when my last little jeep type bug died because it was not strong enough for a wreck. It was about like a pop can with glass around.

Higher profile vehicles have a tendency to roll when sliding sideways. BUT low profile cars are so hard for us OLD dudes to get in and out of.

so glad you and the grandkids are FINE after being rearends, and the kids were buckled up good.

glad you also had your camera on you to take photos of other car and yours.

at least the young girl admitted she was in the wrong.

take it easy and you might take a heating pad with you on your trip in case you are aching later.

2roads,

Thanks for the support!

It is a hassle, but luckiy no money out of our pocket.

justdon,

Thank you for your kind words!

You are right, my hitch crumpled her hood.

Her front bumper went right under my Suburban, leaving her bumper undamaged, and therefore her airbag never deployed.

Oh well, she apologized for the accident and took responsibility, so I thanked her for her honesty.

Take care!

betty,

Thanks for the suggestion of the heating pad, and for your support!!!

Hugs and kisses back to you!
