Feels like I am going to be a crawler today. I took my second dose of Minocycline last night. Thankfully, I don't feel as bad as the first dose!

Hopefully, Miss Pris and I will make it to the mail later on when it warms up a bit. They are talking chance of snow tomorrow night! I am not sure I ready for it yet.

Let's have a good week, every one!

Water therapy. 3 leg, 2 arms, 2 breast, 2 side I think.

Wasn't sure I would be able to put on swim suit due to pain, difficulty with moving the body, brain talking to limbs etc and having to throw up if I asked too much of the body.

But, took 2 excedrin and 1/2 cup of coffee and it was do able.

Not a strong work out but at least able to move the body and brain. est 20 min in pool with a couple of rests.

How perspectives change with this. I would judge people when I was healthy who would have had 2 excedrin and a 1/2 cup of coffee first thing in the am.

Wondering if it help with the brain/oxygen flow?? Not sure how it helps. But, I couldn't have done it without it this am.

Rosie still has mud on her paws from her water therapy during Sunday evenings outing. She found a mud hole.

Just glad I was able to make it to water therapy this am.

Hi everyone! Wow, I have really missed you all.

Not much time for exercise, but I know the importance of making it a vital part of my life. I'm working on making exercise a daily thing. Even if it is in small doses.

My brain has been working overtime, because I have been teaching workshops and writing new material. Study, write, teach. Study, write, teach. All very empowering stuff!

Karen -- I see that you have just started minocycline. I have to tell you, it is the antibiotic that made me well. It made me dizzy and off balance for a couple of weeks, but then the dizziness faded.

After three months of being on mino, my brain fog began to fade, and my ability to function started to return. I was on mino for a solid year, and was virtually symptom free after that time. That was almost two years ago, and I have had no medical problems since my treatment ended.

So, hang in there, girlfriend! My prayer for you is that your body responds to the mino as well as mine did.

Kam, I am so glad that you are back in water therapy. I know it is helping you, no matter how difficult it seems.

Hugs to everyone!

Lou, good to hear from you! You have been missed. Thank you so much for the encouragement about the minocycline. I really needed it after that first dose of mino! Sounds like you have been incredibly busy. All that brain stuff would make me as tired as aerobic exercise! Make sure you are getting some rest.

KAM, glad you made it to water therapy. I keep forgetting to send you my water exercise shoes. This is what they look like: http://www.swimoutlet.com/product_p/5260.htm IF you are interested, I will pop them into the mail this week.

Thank you for nobody picking on me about going to the mail today. Typically every Monday holiday I trek up there not remembering the post office is closed. HA! You would think that I would catch on eventually...

Karen, don't feel bad. I KNEW we didn't get mail today but checked it anyway this afternoon!! [bonk]

Hi lou!! Good to see you!

Kam.. glad you made it to water therapy!

I walked my mile and did weights.

Thanks, Lymetoo! That makes me feel a little bit better.

KAM, love the picture! The way my body is reacting to the cold this year, I will probably dressed like and then some!

Karen, I've been so chilled by temps in the 40's to 50's that I wonder how I'll make it thru the winter!!! Maybe I'll get acclimated eventually.

It's been very damp and wet here.

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

Lou, good to hear from you.

Karen..I sure hope the mino helps you

Tutu..I go through those periods where I just can't seem to get warm.

No bath tub here and taking a hot shower has not helped but I have a hand held shower and plastic curtains.

Even drinking hot tea has not helped.

I think it is just one of they many lyme stages we go through??

karen...I need to look at that page again. My brain just couldn't seem to process what I was looking at.

I hate it when it does that. I will go back and things will make sense to me. I just have to wait until that part of the brain is working.

Drove Rosie 3 or 4 miles out of town and let her run on a dirt road. It was a new dirt road for me.

She ran for about a half of a mile while I drove.

Not really a good idea as the dirt road was down in a canyon and I couldn't see if anyone was coming the other way...windy too.

But, the road itself was soft dirt for the most part which makes it easier on Rosie and on me when driving.

Hopefully, I will be strong enough next time to go further down the dirt road to an opening.

I like exploring but I really need to get a cell phone.

Tuesday-Me and Rocky 2 1/2 miles and visited neighbor.

Karen-Mino made me super sick and I couldn't take it. Chest pains, trouble breathing and very dizzy.

Also know what you mean about the mail, (TuTu can relate) kept wondering why I didn't see the mailman, duh!

Kam-loved to hear about Rosie's mudhole therapy. Sounds like alot of fun! Rocky digs in his tiny pen area and gets mud all stuck in his toe nails, ugh!

LouLou-pass some of the empowering stuff this a way!

See you all later in the week!

[hi]

Aklnwlf, 2.5 miles again! I hope that means that you are feeling a little bit better.

Alaska Lone Wolf..glad you and Rocky were able to get out for two and a half miles.

WE are right behind you.....one of these days. HA!

Took the stairs up to the second floor of a business in town to pick up Rosie from the groomers and then Rosie helped me back down.

The first set of steps was going fine. The second set of steps questioned my thinking about trying such a task.

I saw the doggie (Rosie) in the window and got out of my power chair and started heading up the stairs. Not wise.

Back to picking her up via the back door. (I really dislike the back door as it is a rough ride in the power chair with all the rocks...no asphalt.

No more mud in Rosie's paws and on her nails. Nails need clipping more frequently though. Too long. I haven't checked inside her ears to see how the groomer did with getting the hair out of there.

Nice to be able to see her pads and have all the hair shaved off again so I can see her body and if she has anything attached to her coat that shouldn't be there.

Poodles are a lot of work when it comes to grooming.

She cleans up nicely.

Cell phone is a really good idea Kam.

I appear to be the only one with no brain cells. Enjoy reading all your exploits, but in the end can't remember who did what!

So I just have to say I'm proud of all of you!

Did walk the dog yesterday, but today it was 4 hours of driving to take my husband to the neurosurgeon.

Good news is the pseudoaneurysm on his carotid artery is stable!! Yeah!!! No need for another scan for 2 years. Also his Lyme disease seems to be doing pretty well.

So tomorrow it's back to walking, tai chi and weights. y'all hold me to it!!! Be blessed!

hi gang,

i've not done much lately since our remodeling ending and my not going to lowe's daily for buying/returning, etc! lol

walked three floors up in hospital and down again.

at mall last weekend w/hubby getting him a new pair of shoes after several decades! he's still been wearing his wedding shoes from 35 yrs. ago!! how many of you can say you still have yours?

wore my lyme green outfit & hat. this outfit has a hooded knit top so i put it up before going out in the chilly 40s temps with my hat on top.

went out 1 more door and walked 30' to handicapped area. hubby said, where is your hat?

so i scooted right back to the area i'd been in and NOTHING; no hat in sight in all directions.

i asked at the restaurant right near the outside doors; nothing; went to mall office...nothing but she took my name/phone no.

getting ready to go out 1st set of doors and asked 2 women if they had observed anything since they were sitting there just visiting; nothing.

i checked all the trash barrels; nothing and asked bus driver too ... nothing.

within ONE MINUTE MY HAT WAS STOLEN!!

next am mall called getting my hopes up; nope; no one had turned it in but left a note in the book in case it would be later on.

i was just so dog gone mad; my LYME ACTIVISM HAT!!

so hubby told me to call the cancer resource center where i got it locally at hospital. i did, and she went to look; I HAVE 1 MORE LYME GREEN HAT LEFT.

so i drove promptly and it was IDENTICAL to the other one! i felt so much better.
-----------------------------------

they had all their winter warm hats in now for cancer folks who lose their hair.

when i got home walked 2 blocks only taking a couple of things to neighbors about them.

so i've been very negigent on walking but got a work out yesterday doing laundry and all the trips up/down basement stairs. [Cool]

I am with you MM. I tried to read Betty's post and all I was able to take in was green hat...but if I read correctly you were able to replace it.

This is good.

I did walk into a cell phone store yesterday and sit down and talk with clerk.

I also told him I needed one hands free. Learned that a blue tooth is what they now call the ear piece.

Not ready to get one yet. Cost is a factor.

And I would like my brain to work a bit better so I know more about what I am getting.

There are two cell phone stores in town. Who knows when I will be doing well enough to walk into the other one or have the tram take me there in my power chair.

Miss Pris and I went to the mail this morning. It was 37 degrees out! Nippy.

Melody, congratulations on your husband's good health news!

KAM, the groomers are on the second floor? They must have a lot of old dogs that can't do the stairs? I never went to a groomer that wasn't at street level. Glad there is the back door option.

Miss Pris has not been professionally groomed in a long time. I do some of it, but she looks like a ragamuffin most of the time. She always used to have anxiety when I took her. I finally decided it wasn't worth the stress on her or our pocketbook to take her anymore. Thankfully she is not a poodle!

Have a good day everyone!

Last Saturday I went to babysit grand kids. Woke to snow white outer layers.

Found when i got there they had 3 times as much. Looked like 6" on top of the grass and alot had to already melt.

Then it snowed the next day and the next and yet yesterday,,,we just dont get this much early snow,,its gonna be a LONG winter!!

It of course is already melted since things arent froze solid yet,,but still!!

I also helped bake cookies while there and attended a football and soccer game of grand kids. Bout froze watching tho. temps in the low 30's and wind chill a bunch.

I also got 'groomed' by getting my ears lowered.

Betty.. glad you got a new hat... sorry you had to spend more money!

Melody.. yes, congrats on hubby's health news!

Kam.. hope you can get a cell phone later.. were you going to use it for emergencies? You might try T-mobile pay as you go plan.

I walked 2 extra laps today... 40 in all.

Don....glad you got groomed too!

Karen, the lab I first had as a service dog I could just hose off outside, rub some shampoo and hose off again...that is when the brain and arms were working well enough.

But, he really shed. The housekeeper I had at the time vacuumed daily and by the time I brushed him to take him into a store and put his working clothes on I was too exhausted to go out the door.

So, Rosie works out much better...no shedding. no brushing needed.

I considered purchasing the tools to groom Rosie but my health is still not there yet. I go through cycles where I think I might be able to groom her and then I go through a weak cycle and just giving her a bath is too much.

She is a lot of work. The groomer I take her to takes about 3 hours. The others in town have her all day.

Too..glad you were able to get out and walk today. You too Karen.

As far as cell phones. We are limited on what service we have to choose from.

I hear the rent is going up here next month so the cell phone is a low priority again and on the back burner.

Karen glad you were able to get out too.

I was able to walk into the post office tonight and able to spend 10 min on the trail in the forest with my slippers on. It was not a strong walk but at least I was able to do it.

Rosie old playmate is back at the construction site so Rosie had a good workout. They like to chance each other around the camp site.

Weak lately so putting hiking boots on is out. It would take up most of the strength to do so. I want to leave the strength for walking.

Got back to the apartment and someone had parked in my reserved handicap parking place.

I found another place but it was much further away from the front entry.

I had used up my strength, the weakness in the legs, the brain was also weak and was having trouble moving the body and I had the shortness of breath.

So, ended up on a neighbors porch while they went and got a wheel chair to get me to my power chair.

They were not up to driving my power chair to me.

Still waiting for the manager to return my keys to me.

She pulled up right after I did and called the tenant who had parked in my spot.

That was almost an hour ago. The manager said she would move my car for me once the lady moved her car.

We do need more handicap parking places here. We only have two by the front door.

There are two at the end of the building but that only works if you have an end apartment.

There are over 300 apartments here...seniors and disabled.

My legs are still hurting and I am down for the count tonight.

Water therapy this am. I did the first exercise and then could not recall what the other exercises were.

So, I made some up.

I also forgot to get the tools for the arm exercises and did not have what it took to get out of the pool and back in again.

Brain was really struggling. Wasn't even sure I put my clothes on right after wards...since they were scrubs thankfully I most likely am OK if I had them on inside out.

Karen...able to process what the feet sandals are. yes. i would like to try them.

I think my legs are ready to build up more strength in them via the pool.

I did the chimpanzee or gorilla walk from the pool to the dressing room this am.

and the lyme shuffle from the back door of the hair stylist place to the chair and out again.

I also have what I call the crab walk when the brain does not want to move the feet forward....I side step for a few steps then turn and side step for a few more steps...alternating until I get to the car or home, etc.

How about you guys. You have any names for your walks??

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

Did the lyme shuffle into a ma and pa health food store.

Able to walk into dog park and sit a spell and visit with 3 others who stay in the moment so that worked out well.

Able to walk into Walgreens and pick up pics.

Able to walk into post office and check mail.

Good morning.

Down for the count now.

Wanted to add another walk I have since lyme and company and that is the drunken sailor walk.

Had that one while trying to walk out of the dog park.

You go girl, Lymetoo! Do you have a goal to increase to?

KAM, just think, with all of these different steps that you do, that you are using a different set of muscles! Sure wish we knew what caused this. I am glad that you are able to get out even when you have to ambulate with difficulty.

Miss Pris and I went to the mail. Then my son and I went to the big city. That involved more sitting than moving. But I have gone up and down the stairs numerous times for the laundry.

Aklnwlf, hope you are doing OK!

Don, you had snow before we did!

Best,
Karen

last night....walked the short distance to the building pad to see what was new.

They had put in a stream like of cement and rocks to hopefully direct the water to the drainage pipes under the driveway.

And they are working on building a brick wall at the edge of the building pad to prevent erosion.

It looks like a 10 ft drop off in some areas and a 6 ft in other areas. Guessing they are going to put up a guard rail of some sort.

Slow going.

Still waiting for that morning or am when I am able to go for a good strong walk along a creek, or at the Indian Ruins or out on some trail.

Glad you were able to do the laundry Karen...hoping to be able to do that today....but have been hoping to be able to do it all week.

Patience.

Glad you survived the big city. [Smile]

LymeToo...Wow! Good workout.

PS I learned that a local friend has a T Mobile Cell phone that was provided by his daughter in another state.

So, they do work here??

And I learned that Walmart is starting a cell phone service for $30 a month with 1,000 min of texting a month and 1,000 min of service.

Tried to find out if it is happening here but it looks like I need to actually go into Walmart...which is something I am rarely up to.

Glad to hear y'all are so active. Kam it's nice that your apartment manager is so attentive. Sounds like a good place to live, with good neighbors too.

So, regarding the having trouble walking discussion. Is anyone else having problems with the tendons in the back of your ankle?

I started having problems with my tendon in the right ankle a few months ago. Developed a tender bump in back. I think I read that it's tendonitis.

Then due to the weakness I rolled my ankle while I was out in the yard. OK, ok, clumsiness may have been a factor too. =) This resulted in more problems.

Now I'm starting to have mild tendon issues in the other ankle, but more aware now due to the bad one.

Got a brace to help with the right ankle, and really don't want to go to another doc for this as the non LLMDs just seem to mess me up.

I'm hoping it's the Lyme and that it will heal on its own. Always the optimist.. .

Posted by kgg (Member # 5867) on :

MelodyMaker, Lyme likes tendons. And then in my body, for what ever reason, I have calcium deposits on the tendons. Ouch. Because of that, I don't stretch unless my muscles are very warmed up. And I use heat for my pain. And of course, keep treating my Lyme.

Miss Pris and I went to the mail yesterday. And I stacked wood for a short time. I also spent time working on cleaning up the gardens for the fall. I have quite finished that yet. Today we have a northeaster, so it will be a lazy day. Which doesn't hurt my feelings!

Best,
Karen
