Hi,

Well, I'm a bit younger than you- in my 4th year of a bachelors degree. but I'd be willing to talk. I live in Canada though, so over the phone is out. Email, or anything online, or skype could work though.

Let me know [Smile]

Hi,

Great idea. I'd love to talk/email with someone my age as well.

I'm 24, working full time, married and have a cat who keeps me company while I do infusions.

No need to be lonely; I'm sure there are more of us in this age group on Lymenet.

You might want to join www.lymefriends.com

I am a member there, and it seems like there are quite a few people in their 20's over there.

I also see a lot of people posting on each other's "walls," etc, so it seems like a lot of people have met each other via that site.

Hey man, I'm 29 and live @ jersey shore. PM me maybe were close enough to grab coffee. il check if the group in nj still meets, if not we should start it up again. with colder weather moving in I get sicker and housebound it's good to have somewhere once a month or so to remind me I'm not alone and not crazy.

I'm 20, almost 21. I was a college student, but I'm currently too sick to go to school. Anyone who posts here please feel free to contact me. Talking to another 20 something who knows what it's like to have your life put on hold would be nice... <3

Just turned 20, was a full time college student in way over my head, went insane and my life fell apart. Took medical leave this semester.

But I can't just drop out, so I return to school in the spring. Luckily, I'm now feeling better than I have in years, so maybe it will work this time.

Late 20's here in Northern NJ. Would be really cool to have Lyme friends that are local so we could do things together and share fun stories about our brain fog [woohoo] .

Ah yes, graduate school and Lyme... there's nothing like being a field biologist in the hotspot areas of OR and CA to put you at risk for exposure to Lyme, I know.

Both have put my life in suspended animation. I just hope it doesn't last so long that I can't get anywhere!

Yeah, I have been studying Environmental Science, so I've got pretty much every bug discovered and then some.

Sometimes I feel like Mr. Burns in one of the few Simpson's episodes I can remember:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mayo Clinic Doctor: Mr. Burns, I'm afraid you are the sickest man in the
United States. You have everything.

Burns: You mean I have pneumonia?

Doctor: Yes.

Burns: Juvenile diabetes?

Doctor: Yes.

Burns: Hysterical pregnancy?

Doctor: Uh, a little bit, yes. You also have several diseases that have just been discovered -- in you.

Burns: I see. You sure you haven't just made thousands of mistakes?

Doctor: Uh, no, no, I'm afraid not.

Burns: This sounds like bad news.

Doctor: Well, you'd think so, but all of your diseases are in perfect balance. Uh, if you
have a moment, I can explain.

Burns: Well ... [looks at his watch]

[the Doctor puts a tiny model house door on his desk]

Doctor: Here's the door to your body, see?

[bring up some small fuzz balls with goofy faces and limbs from under the desk]

And these are oversized novelty germs.

[points to a different one up as he names each disease]

That's influenza, that's bronchitis,
[holds up one]

and this cute little cuddle-bug is pancreatic cancer. Here's what happens when they all try
to get through the door at once.

[tries to cram a bunch through the model door. The "germs" get stuck.]

[Stooge-like] Woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo! Move it, chowderhead!

[normal voice] We call it, "Three Stooges Syndrome."

Burns: So what you're saying is, I'm indestructible!

Doctor: Oh, no, no, in fact, even slight breeze could --

Burns: Indestructible.[Leaves]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just love how the doc describe's the "Three Stooges Syndrome." Reminds me of the Holy Trinity of Lyme bugs
My Three Stooges: Lyme, Bart, and Babesia.

26, I'll be 27 next month.

I got diagnosed with Lyme my first semester of grad school (did Graphic Design undergrad, and went to get my MFA in Film and Digital technology).

Mostly, I slept a lot. I'd go to night class, and then sleep some more. I remember shooting my thesis, I had to do all the shooting over weekends, because I couldn't pay my actors (and they had day jobs).

So I'd shoot Friday through Sunday. Monday through Wednesday, I'd be completely useless. Thursday I'd plan for my next week of shooting. Lather, rinse, repeat. (Speaking of, I actually cut my hair, because I didn't have the energy to take care of it. Hair was too much for me. Jeez.)

I also had some unfortunate timing, in that I got mono that spring on top of Lyme. I was so used to being exhausted, I didn't even notice.

I've been off of any kind of treatment for a year now, finished school, have a job. The past few weeks, I've had joint pain. I'm waiting a bit to see if it goes away, but if it's not gone soon, it's back to the doctor for me.

I really don't want to have to go back to the monthly doctor visits, the bloodwork, the pill cases... but I will never, ever let myself get that sick again.
