Under Our Skin has officially been nominated for the Oscar short-list, one of 15 movies out of 89 screened for the academy. In February 2010 the top 5 will be announced.Let's hope it wins!

Awsome!!!!! I so hope it wins; what a great way to bring awareness.

P.S. I don't think we can do anything; I think it is voted on by a panel. But I could be wrong.....!

I think it is voted on by members of the academy, which would be the actors and other people in the movie industry.

Lets just pray they vote for it!

Turn the Corner Foundation may have some suggestions for helping "UOS" make the list!
I've suggested a ribbons campaign in CA to bring awareness to the films content.
NATCAPLYME used a huge lime green ribbon for an event placed on the plaza and it really turned some heads. "Ribbons Across America" makes us visible.

I have been asked to post this here for someone else.

"
I'm the producer from Under Our Skin, and I'd like to clarify some of your points on the Oscars process.

1. The DVDs sent to the Academy members are *not* purchased with member dues. The film producers must pay for the copies and shipping to the Academy.

There are thousands of members who receive the film, plus we mail copies to all the film reviewers across the country. The shipping alone cost us over $2,000.

2. We had to pay thousands of dollars to underwrite the "free" screenings set up for Academy members in NY and LA.

3. We're up against some big studio film companies with armies of marketing people.

The only way we've gotten this far is with publicists who are discounting their fees because they believe in the film, and we've paid for them with the generous donations of people who've been touched by this disease.

Open Eye is a non-profit film production company that relies on the generosity of patrons who want to help make the world a better place for Lyme patients and raise awareness of the disease.

Thank you for helping us get this film out into the world.

We couldn't have done it without your support.

Just imagine: If we get into the top 5, a clip of UNDER OUR SKIN will be shown to 36 MILLION VIEWERS.

That's AWARENESS, and it motivates us to keep working even harder as we enter the home stretch. Kris Newby"

Awesome, Kris - you go!!! And everyone else who's helping too.

Even just getting this far is a win.

We will be so thrilled if it gets into the final five. I understand there is some lobbying going on for that now.

I can't wait to hear the top 5. Yeah, it would be wonderful if "Under our skin" wins. What great awareness this would bring.
