Went to see Dr. J on Monday, had a great visit. Other than some lingering left sided neuro weakness, all other physical issues seemed back to normal.

Dr. J believes he has recovered & has said he can stop the antibiotics. We are watching him for any symptoms returning, he said if they do return, they should within the month.

If symptoms return, he'll begin antibiotics again.

My son did complain of feeling "dizzy" for 2 days after stopping, also complained of not feeling good. But now, he seems better. Think it was just because of stopping the antibiotics?

Anyone else experience that when stopping?

Fingers crossed that my lil' one is truly better. Can't believe how far he's come in just 10 months.

When we went to Dr. J.... my son was very sick. He vomited almost every day, (he only weighed 60 lbs), he limped when he walked, he was losing his vision.

Today he never vomits and now weighs a healthy 75 lbs, he runs like the wind, and he hasn't had any visual problems since last summer.

Thought I'd share our success story.... God is great.

What wonderful news for you and your son. To think that this wonderful doctor has been dragged down such an awful path lately is so disheartening.

Then to read your post....Dr J is lead by a higher power.

Hi Pam... We spoke to Dr. J about the recent ruling. Had a very good conversation & despite all, he's determined to continue to fight. My eyes welled up with tears a few times while talking with him.

What he continues to go through to help children afflicted with lyme is nothing short of heroic....

My lil' one hugged him before we left and I thanked him for all he does, for all the kids. But thank you can never be enough...

Songbird - When they stop the antibiotics do they just do it cold or taper off slowly?

And do they continue with any supplements at all?

So happy to hear of your families success, hope we can say the same in a few months!!

Hi LymeX... stopped cold turkey. He was taking zith and omnicef every day for 10 months.

Although Dr. J didn't mention it, we decided to continue with the probiotics for now.

I surely do hope your family receives the same news soon....

Songbird,

We had my son seen and treated by the same Dr
too and my son has been off abx for 5 months
now and still doing well! We did however taper
off slowly after 18 months of abx. My son
was not as ill as yours was but my gut instinct
was to make sure to hit all the co-infections
pos. tests or not.

We have my son on the very limited Cowden protocol and some supportive
supplements to keep his immune system up!
I still give him pro-biotics just not as many
months after abx. I think it is a good idea
as the gut has 70% of our immune system in
it and abx destroys a lot of that good flora.

Now the way I went about my son getting off abx
was not something the Dr. we speak of is into
but I followed my instinct with what I thought
was best. I would think that being on any meds.
would give us some type of dependence and that is
why I opted to wean off slowly. It is so good to
hear another sucess story and I am sure you are
more then thrilled to see you child be healthy
again.

Stacy, very encouraging to hear that your son is still well too. I plan on continuing with the probiotics, probably forever, lol. I do believe they are a good thing.

And Jane, thanks so much. Betting your daughter isn't far behind in her recovery. : )

Songbird: Thank you for sharing your success story. How wonderful for your son. I hope Dr. J's magic will have the same result for our family too. [Smile]
