Wow! Last week in April! I don't know about the rest of you, but time is going too fast for me. Although I am not disappointed that it is moving towards warmer weather! [Cool]

I want to give kudos to Diane and Topaz. Topaz entered and did a mile long jog. Go, Topaz!

And Diane walked 1.5 miles yesterday. Yeah!

I am impressed with you both. I hope the payback is not too bad. You both have my admiration.

That leads to the question: What can you do today? We need to keep moving out bodies. Use it or lose it! But we need to do it with a pace that will not set us back.

I know we are tired and in pain. But we still need to try to keep going. Every day living activities count in this post as it is using our bodies instead of giving in and being couch potatoes.

And then for those who are able to do more, we celebrate those achievements as well.

Let's keep moving!

Kgg... thankyou for another week of hope and pushing myself. your line, "what can you do today" motivates me.

This am ... cleaned the downstairs befor 9am.
Now I am ready to take a shower and go back to bed and watch a little news.

Good Monday to everyone.

Diane..glad you were able to clean the down stairs.

Topaz ran a mile. Wow.

And Diane walked a mile. Cool.

Took a sit down shower this am.

Put some blankets and quilts in a box this afternoon. both wore me out.

Had windows open for a bit today as it was really nice out.

But, then the air conditioners outside my window started up this afternoon so had to close windows...guess it was a bit warm for some.

the tenant in the apartment I am moving into moved out today. I went to say good bye to her and she was all ready gone.

Packed a box of towels, packed another box with bedspread and blanket

AWW...kam../. I'm so sorry you missed your friend! darn!

So when will you be moved in??

I didn't go to exercise today... I went to church and helped make pillows for those in hospice care in our town. ( not church members.. everyone )

It was fun! and the fellowship was great! [Smile]

I may go exercise tomorrow and then on Wed too. We'll see!

hope everyone had a great weekend! [hi]

i deleted this cuz i'm embarrassed i whined so much.

you guys were very sweet to offer support...like many others i don't get it from family and tend to hide a lot from family so they don't yell at me about throwing money away on rogue docs and supplements.

thanks for being there for me. lp

I didn't do a dog-gone-thing this afternoon.

After being outside yesterday with family and cleaning half the house this am. I became a little run down.

The boys wanted to go to the carnival this evening, I had to put on a happy face... didn't want to let them down. That was very tough.

I have had brain fog most of the day with alot of swelling and the pollen makes it worse, but hey I survived... walked like a drunk [dizzy]

lymetoo... making pillows sounds like fun, and for a great cause. yes tomorrow is another day.

Kam... Does this mean you will be moving in soon?
air conditioners have a way of ruining alot of pretty sounds outside and can be over welming to listen to. Sorry.

lpkayak,

There was a carousel at the carnival this evening, with lots of horses. [lol]

Being over weight with a positive attitude is the route I would go also.
Being in a dark place is tough to get out of, so be happy. I am sure your family loves you just the way you are. We are our worst critic.

Don't give up on finding a horse.

Diane

lpkayak,

finding a horse cant be all that tough. Do YOU have a place to keep one yourself? At your house? That always makes it so much easier.

Can you share some numbers with us if you feel okay doing that? How much does a horse lease cost? Who then pays for hay, oats and keep?

I have seen horses 'given away' to good homes lately. some people cant or dont want to support and feed one these days.

When I lived in country the propane delivery guy was into buying and selling GOOD horses. Said at last he wouldnt take them for free cause bottom dropped out of horse market.

Unless you ride a horse very hard,,which I dont think you do, a good sturdy horse can carry lots of rider.

If where you live is too small,,,is there a few acres close by that might be available for rent? or cheap sale? A small barn and gated yard/pen doesnt require much space.

Lots of options if you look hard enough,,like horse shelters that might need room for one more.

Lyme Too...the pillow thing sounds like fun.

Don't mean to bore people with this moving thing. But, it helps me to stay on track when I get off track...

First time in 9 years I have been able to do my own packing and finding things I have not seen in 9 years.

Looks like the move might take place this weekend as the maintenance man and his brother will be moving me on their own time.

Then the unpacking, putting up rods for the curtains (which I will need help with), finding and putting up shelves in the kitchen which the old tenant told me really helped made life more do able in her power chair.

(hoping maintenance guy will help with this too so need to charge those shelves soon.

Maintenance man wife will be cleaning my apartment and the one I am moving into.

Kayak..sorry to hear the horse did not work out. I had horses at one time. I have no idea what it is to board and feed and have the vet and the farrier check the horse now since it was a long time ago I had horses.

Do know that some boarding places will feed for you and include that in the fee.

Then there is the cost of a saddle and tack.

did a quick google search and learned that As a rough guide, a horse can carry about a quarter of its weight, a fifth with a novice rider.

It is good you know what things help lift your spirits. Hang in there.

Looking forward to the day I am able to be out on the trail too. for now though, I think just brushing the horse and getting the tack on would wear me out. I wouldn't have the strength to ride.

But, do know there is a place in town where they do want people to brush their horses without riding them.

When I read about your horse adventures, I keep thinking i need to contact them and give it a try.

Just being around horses makes me happy and once they get to know me perhaps they would allow me to ride.

I kept waking up during the night. I finally got up at 3:00 am and moved from the couch to the bed and have been on the computer since.

Water therapy this am. Sure hope I am able to make it.

Thanks for the kudos, Kgg! I'm still a little sore. But the fact that I could do it gives me hope!

Today my daughter and I are bringing my grandson in for a lyme test.

He was bitten by a tick about a week ago and is on amoxicillin for a month.

Thankfully, his pediatrician is very knowledgeable and aggressive with treating lyme.

Turns out she's been seeing the same llmd as me and being treated for lyme herself for about 7 months now.

I'm curious as to what, if anything, will show up in the bloodwork today.

After that, we'll probably have lunch somewhere. Excited to see my grandbabies!

Not much exercise happening here today though.

Happy Tuesday to all. [Smile]

Wow, everyone has been busy! Yesterday, I took Brewster, our Golden Retriever, to the vets to check his ears again. Looks like he will be on maintenance for the rest of his life for his ears. While there, he had his heartworm/erhlichia/lyme test. And guess what, yup. He has lyme.

We don't know how long he has had it, since we just got him in December. We now have the awkward situation of contacting the person who gave him to us and ask if their family members are healthy. Many times both owners and pets get Lyme.

After the expensive trip to the vets, I did some weeding in the asparagus patch. And I planted my broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage seeds. I am late on those. But I thought I would give it a try anyway.

Today, I am going to try to weed some more before the rain starts. Once it does I am going to try to capture my kitchen and make dinner. That will be it. I am not highly motivated today.

Take care every one!

did a little ironing and burnt my arm, again.

Walked up to bus stop.
Like Kgg, not highly motivated today.

Went to exercise today!!

Met new people since it was not my usual day. Two men asked me what I was doing there since I was "too young"...

I told them I was an imposter!! [Big Grin]

Hope to go tomorrow too.... Did 40 laps and my favorite machine...which is making my legs stronger!

thank you all for the support.

sorry i whined. i feel like an idiot.

the horse thing is complicated. having a horse in the NE is way different than the midwest. we don't have much flat open ground. and so it is very expensive. i remember when i visited kansas...my jaw just dropped at the acres and acres of flat land...horse country.

there is no way i could have a horse at my own place in the for see able future. i'm too disabled for regular or any emergency care of a horse. i can only ride if it is easy to catch and groom the horse. i need a special mounting block. i need a really quiet horse that won't buck or spook. i can't deal with rocks or hills or mud...i'm pretty disabled but i try to pretend i'm not.

here in the NE there are a lot of situations where horses are being sold cheap or given away but that won't work for me. i need a lease-where the horse is taken care of totally by someone else. i pay a certain amount and try to get to ride 3-4 times a week. it can be between 150-500 month depending on horse and barn.

i'll keep my eyes open and hopefully a good situation will come up. til then i have my elliptical and i can walk. and hopefully get back in the kayak (i've only been once since i got the new knees two years ago...and i needed help getting in an out.)

anyway---thanks again for the kind, helpful words.

i'm going to visit my son in NJ for a week so may not be online---not sure. see ya when i get back.

Good to hear from you all. I forget what old symptoms are like until they show up again.

Not bad. Just in lala land and so fatigued that I lay there for quite a while before getting up to go to the bathroom because I just don't have what it takes.

With the new apartment, I can have the chair move me when I am like that.

I was able to put the kitchen towels in a box, put the rest of the shoes in the box.

And walk into the dog park this am. Rosie loved being there. She got to see some of her favorite 4 legged friends and 2 legged friends.

Hoping to get a good night's sleep tonight. I know that will help.

Missed water therapy...due to health.

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

Able to do the 10 min loop this afternoon. I would not have gone if it were not for Rosie.

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

Wed am: packed glass oven ware. Used Rosie's dog bed to sit up as needed to get to the shelves under the counter.

Exhausted now. Breath in. Breath out. Rest.

Posted by MDW005 (Member # 22706) on :

Lymetoo... sometimes it's real nice to see other faces, glad you were able to make it to exercise.

Kam... all this packing for your move exhausts me. LOL. WHO is going to help you unpack? I am glad you are able to get your loops in. Hats off to Rosie for getting you out from packing for a short bit.

Me... well, I went shopping with my dear friend Tom and had lunch with him. Then we went down to my friend Bert's house and put up two ceiling fans for her.

Tom and I aren't spring chickens anymore. He is a retired electrition with severe emphesemia and me,well we all know. Reaching over my head with a drill was too much... I let a drill beat me!!
I could not get over how my muscles have turned to mush.

We laughed and he has always called me a Candy A##. It's true... now!

Hope everyone had a great hump day.
Diane

Diane, I hate working over my head too. So I would be right there with ya! You two were really nice to put up the ceiling fans for your friend. I swear they are making them more complicated to hang every year!

KAM, I am pleased for you that you are getting so much done. But worried because I know how you are feeling too! One thing with this disease, at least for me. When the body says "REST!", there is no choice. So rest when you get the signal.

Keep up the good work, Lymetoo!

Today, I did the dishes and then attacked my bathroom. It was not so much the tub and sink as much as everything that was cluttered everywhere! You can finally see my floor again. Now I need to move some of the stuff off of my bed so I can go to sleep tonight. Two more loads of laundry and I am done for the day.

Kayak, if you haven't left yet, please have a fun and safe trip to NJ. Hopefully, a better/healthier horse will come along. My fingers and toes are crossed for that to happen.

kgg... Do you think you will approach Brewsters ex-family about the lyme? Do animals heal faster
from lyme and co.? Whats wrong with his ears?

I have a golden retriever that we rescued from an abusive situation...all he wants is to please all the time and LOVES tennis balls.

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

Karen...what did the vet say? Will Brewster be OK?

I assume you are talking about ear infections....I heard that is common with some floppy ear dogs.

Sounds like you were able to get a lot done today.

I will be so glad when this move is over and basic needs are organized.

yes. My body and brain are still in control most of the time with much more down time than I would like.

Took 6 excedrin today due to the inflamed brain thing.

Drove out to the place my mom was buried today. The head stone is in. I wasn't on my feet much.

It was border line whether or not I should be out but needed to get out of the house.

I looked over at Rosie and she was standing by an evergreen tree with one foot up. So, I walked over and checked the foot for stickers and then continued to look at the different headstones.

Looked over at Rosie and she was still standing like a statue. Went and checked her other paws.

Then noticed that she was standing in newly trimmed evergreen branches and all around her was sticker plants.

I am thinking...great....now what...she is too big for me to carry.

So, got in the car and drove it on to where she was.

Then drove the car around the dirt circle twice while she ran a bit. it is a small distance but enough to allow her to get her exercise.

Packed some of the empty small clay pots...not sure if I mentioned this...just put them in a box so they could be carried.

Noticed the maintenance man was working in the apartment I will be moving to. Blinds were open but the windows were not. Hoping he airs the place out well before I move in.

I know when I see the carpet cleaners there it will be time to move in. That is the last thing they do.

Diane..putting up the ceiling fans sounds like a lot of work.

I keep finding things that need to be packed. Sheesh. Also packed one shelf in the small pantry..canned goods.

And opened another cabinet and saw more things that need packing in the kitchen. There isn't that much cabinet space in the kitchen ...I thought.

down time for the rest of the evening and most likely all of tomorrow and perhaps the next day.

We shall see.

Glad I am doing this in the spring time as I usually do a bit better in the spring and fall.

But, I also miss being able to get out doors during the good weather.

Almost 80's today. Mid 50's tomorrow with freezing at night.

I went to exercise again today! I was able to get 6 min on the machine and 40 laps, plus the weights and arm cranks. Enjoyed the fellowship! ( my usual buddies! )

Hang in there guys... I'm reading your stuff... just too lazy/tired to respond... I'm going to go crawl up in my bed! [hi]

TuTu..hope you have recovered. Sounds like a good session.

Thurs am: around the block in the upright PC. Saw the full moon. Was surprised at how fast the earth moves. The moon was behind the hill before I even got out of the parking lot.

Hands were hurting this am. Forgot to wear gloves.

Going around the block via the power chair looks like all the moving I will be doing today.

Back to the basics...getting sleep and getting food in me...getting too weak.

today is a rough one for me. Dizzy and swollen brain No energy and difficult with vision.

everyone have a good day. i am staying close to home.

Posted by kgg (Member # 5867) on :

Yup. Sound like a good day to be a couch potato, Diane! Hope one day of staying close to home will get you back to "normal".

Brewter is going to be on 30 days of Doxycycline. He does not appear to have Lyme by his behavior. He is active, doesn't limp and is fairly laid back. But the test was positive.

And yes, he loves tennis balls! And if there are not any around a rock will do. His ear have a chronic yeast/bacterial infection. The vet said the underlying problem is allergies. It sets up inflammation and that makes him prone to infections.

We have to keep the inside ear flap shaved back for better air circulation. We got him with a really bad infection of both ears. He had never been to the vet and had been left outside a lot. Our other golden has had only one ear infection that I know of. But poor Brewster's is chronic.

Today, I did an hours worth of weeding in the perennial garden. And moved some perennials around which involved shoveling. I have much more to do but, no energy to do it. I am going to try to get dinner cooked and that will be it for me for the day.

[hi]

Posted by kgg (Member # 5867) on :

Today, I did planted and transplanted some lupine. I also did some weeding in that end of the perennial bed. I have one more section and that bed will be weeded. Two more to go...

After weeding, I had lunch and then I heard my recliner calling. [sleepy]

Hope everyone is having a good Friday.

I walked 40 laps and did 8 minutes (!) on the ergo machine. Plus arm cranks and weights.. then went to a show.

Hope all you guys had a great day!

I did the 10 min loop in the forest and enjoyed it. Exhausted now though.

I also was able to take down the bedroom drapes, front room drapes and shower curtains and put them in the donation box out front.

And stopped at a store and picked up 4 small boxes to use for packing.

Wanted to do more while I was out but ran into maintenance man and the conversation did me in even though it was a short one and I was sitting down.

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

I don't trust my brain but it seems to me you are able to increase your laps and time on the machine each time. Pretty cool TuTu.

I sure hope the lupine survive the transplant. LOL about the recliner. Mine talks too.

How is Brewster doing?

Hope you recover soon Diane.

Hey kam.... and anyone else.. I have some AWESOME bluebonnet pictures (photos) from Texas... banner year this year.

Those are a variety of "lupine." More blue than lavender though.

Even have one of bluebonnets in SNOW... yep, in Texas!

Just send me your email addy in a PM and I'll send you some.

Hi everyone,

It's been a rough few days for me but I am back in the saddle.

I fought through the pain today... very painful neck and spine. I went out this evening and did some raking of dirt. Yes dirt! trying to smooth out part of the backyard from the dogs romping and tearing it up. Need to put some grass seed down.

Sweating profusely and stretching the muscles and then a warm shower seemed to help a bit.

I missed everyone... being away from the board a couple days. I will catch up on what everyone is doing.

Diane

Diane...glad you are back with the living.

Walked to and from the apartment and into the dog park twice this am...first time for the morning toileting and second time after Rosie ate...so morning pooping?? If so, I missed it while she was at the dog park.

Rosie is still bugging me. Not sure what is going on. But, I am ignoring her now. I don't have what it takes to take her out to the forest and do the 10 min loop yet.

Hopefully some time today.

Yesterday, I spent about 4 hours weeding and transplanting perennials. I believe I am done transplanting and weeding for now. Than of course, my recliner and I visited for about 2 hours. [sleepy]

Today, I have spent the day finally loading up my kitchen cabinets. I am almost finished. Soon I will be able to say 3 years after our move, I am finally unpacked in the kitchen. Now I am off to Walmart.

Glad you are back among us, Diane!

Go! Lymetoo!

KAM, hope Rosie is OK and just has some extra energy. Mr. Brewster is OK. Just a little less lively. Thankfully, he seems to be tolerating the Doxycycline well.

[hi]

Kgg... Isn't yard work theraputic? I love flowers and planting.

Lymtoo...What show did you see? How was church choir? Pictures were beautiful

Me... I rearanged the bedrooms.. Daughter and son-in-law moved out!! Yeah for me.
