Okay, so my older son (who has asthma and allergies) spent the last week or so with the sneezing, runny nose and cough that everyone else seems to have right now with all the pollen in the air.

No other issues, not acting sick in any way, no fever, so no worries.

Well, yesterday around lunchtime he started saying his lungs hurt when he breathed. That doesn't sound good.

So I gave him a nebulaizer treatment, and afterwards he said he felt fine. Just to be safe, I sent his teacher a note letting her know that things were acting up.

School nurse called to let me know the teaher had alerted her, but that Wesley seemed fine.

Well, he got home from school and just crashed on the couch. I tookk his temperature, and he had a fever---great 4:30pm on a Friday, and he decides to get sick.

So we went to the urgent care facility (thank God they had evening hours!), and they ACTUALLY RAN TESTS (unlike his regular doc, who just tosses him abx and is done with it)---turns out he has pneumonia.

So the doc gives an abx and a steroid and gives me the spiel about watching him overnight and if he gets worse to go right to the ER, blah blah blah.

So last night was really rough--I didn't sleep much (of course, I haven't been sleeping anyway) and both kids and hubby were coughing all night.

I'm not too sure both of them don't have what Wes does, although they both have better immune systems.

Good news is that Wes is doing better today--he's been at his brother's thraot alllllllll day. Bad news is that hubby is no better, so he's been lying around all day, and I'm completely wiped out.

I don't think I'm sick, but I feel like crap, and I can't get any rest because the boys are at each other's throats.

Hubby and I are supposed to be on nursery duty at church tomorrow, but I'm making him and the boys stay home--I don't know that I want to go either, but I hate leaving them in the lurch.

I'm just at my wits end right now. Tired, cranky, and ready to walk out on everything.

Sorry for the long post, just venting, venting, venting.

Oh, my - hope everyone settles down soon. If I were you, I'd stay home tomorrow as you also need your rest. Hopefully, you won't come down with it but, if the pneumonia is viral, you could be a carrier to the nursery tomorrow.

Hate to toss on any bad news but you may want to see this:

I'm so sorry for all of your sickness. I wouldn't go to keep the nursery tomorrow. Their will be someone else there who can do it.

I myself have been really sick this weekend. It's some kind of stomach bug..UGH!

Hope everyone is well soon...............Christie

Give the nursery director a call tonight. That way they have time to find someone to cover for you.

If you are not feeling well yourself, you should not try to take care of other people's children. It will be too much stress on your body, might lower your immune system allowing you to get sick too.

Plus with your child recovering from pneumonia you wouldn't want to risk spreading germs to the other church babies.

Hi Star,
Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. So, did you survive the weekend? Hope so. Hope everyone is better too.

Thanks everyone.

Wes is acting better--running around, trying to kill his brother--but he still stops and coughs terribly. Overnight was really bad too.

He did say he heard a pop in his chest once when he breather; that can't be good.

Mike and Wayde are still sick; Wayde has an appt for this afternoon along with Wes, so we'll see what she says.

If she does what she usually does, she'll just toss him an antibiotic and be done.

But I am going to push for something to be done about Wes' constant bouts with asthmatic bronchitis/pneumonia. This is ridiculous.

My chest hasn't been right all weekend, a lot of air hunger and weird pains at different places in my lungs.

Don't know if it's worth it to see a doc--I'm already on abx, what else would they do? Give me steroids? Yeah right...
