Feeling mighty sorry for myself....1/4 a bag of Hershey's kisses last evening did NOT do the trick!

So I have 2 daughters. Yesterday was Mother's day....feel free to laugh when I share my story, because I finally started to do that today for lack of anything better to do!

Called both my girls to announce that I would be coming to town (we live in the country about an hour from them) on Saturday, and could I see them? Daughter #1 agreed to meet at the farmer's market, and daughter #2 (who has 2 small kids) said to stop by.

Called daughter #1 10 minutes before I was to meet her, and it was obvious she was still in bed. Stated she had a migraine and would not be coming. I found out later that she spent the day with her ex boyfriend....migraine must have went away...

Went to the market, then went to see daughter #2. When I got there, she asked could I please babysit while she went to get groceries...she was planning to fix her mother in law a very nice Mother's Day dinner that evening. So I babysat, and of course when she returned, she had to start cooking. So I saw her for 15 minutes tops. She did buy me a head-banging, grunge band CD, so that was nice.....

Next day, Mother's day, didn't hear from either daughter, but finally, daughter #1 called at around 8PM, and said, "Did you have a nice mother's day?" Like you would say to a friend...not, "Happy mothers day, mom!". Then she let it slip that she had spent the day with her roommate's mother who came to town and cooked for them.

Daughter #2 called today to ask if she could borrow money, as the groceries she bought on Saturday to pay for mom-in-law's mother's day special meal cost more than she could afford and she had to use her credit card. She maxed it out and now needed cash for her weekly expenses.

So....one daughter faked a migraine to hang with an ex and a complete stranger; the other daughter-well, basically I babysat and bought the groceries so her mother-in-law could have a nice mother's day!

Oh-and my husband's gift to me for the day....he bought me a percolating coffee pot for our cabin. He left for the cabin at 3:30am on Mother's day, taking my gift with him to use, I have yet to see it, and he called to tell me that it works very well!

Oh....and I was rear-ended that day while I sat at a red light...sending the plants I had bought my mother onto the floor of my truck.

And, my boss sent a nurse's day gift via mail....it came postage due!

So.....how was your mother's day?!

So sorry about your mothers day. You did well by only eating 1/4 of the bag of chocolates. I think I'd finish them off!!!

Oh Sick Tick. That story sounds like something out of the movies. If it weren't so sad, it would be funny.

Sending BIG HUGE Mother's Day hugs to you [group hug] [group hug]

I know it's a little late, but hoping it will make you feel better!! And for the record, I agree with Rene. I would finish that bag of chocolate up!!

You poor thing. That is truly awful.

I once had a mother's day that was something like that. My stepsons gave cards to every woman in their extended family and to MY mother, but didn't get one for me. My (now ex) husband walked in the door and said to me, "So, what are you making for dinner?" Grrrrr.

Another time, my brother was home from college for the weekend, and he and my dad were taking Mom to brunch for Mother's Day on a Sunday morning.

My brother had to leave from the restaurant to go back to college, so they drove two cars.

The restaurant was about an hour away.

When they arrived at the restaurant, my brother and my dad realized that my mom was not with them. Each thought she was riding with the other one.

Mom had chased them down the lengthy country driveway, waving her arms and yelling, "Hey! You forgot me!" But they were both oblivious.

What took her a long time to forgive was the fact that, once they realized they had left her at home alone, they decided they might as well eat breakfast anyway, since they were already there.

My brother was short of time to get back to college, so he just left after the meal.

It's a funny family story now, a couple of decades later, but Mom was completely fuming at the time, and with just cause.

This year my brother traveled 9000 miles so we could take my mom out for dinner and so he could be here for her major surgery, so I think he is forgiven now. [Smile]

Your children were insensitive to say the least, and doesn't it seem like bad things come in droves and all at the same time?

Great big hugs to you, and congratulations on not eating all the chocolate. I would have eaten the first bag, and then gone out for more.

Thanks, everyone.....for the hugs! And YES, Joalo-more chocolate! Oh, believe me, had I the whole bag, it would have been eaten in its entirety! All I had left was 1/4 a bag!!

Oh, my GOODNESS Light! Your poor mom!!!!! When that stuff happens, it hurts at the time, but does make for some pretty good ammunition down the road, so looking forward to that!

((((HUGS TO YOU))))

Well, after reading your post, I don't feel so bad about my Mother's Day.

My husband was on camera duty at church (they video all the services), so he left for church early; I had to get the kids ready at get them to church myself. We were late as usual and ended up having to park in the back 40, if you know what I mean.

So then we get home, and I had to cook dinner. That's nothing new, I don't like crowded restaurants with two overly-energetic boys, and you know what Mother's Day in a restaurant is like.

But I tried a new recipe--pork and apples, with pierogies sauted instead of boiled like I usually make them--and of course, both boys hated the meal, and told me so.

Oh, and before dinner, as I'm trying to get everything cooked, Wayde peed out of his pull-up all over the floor. Mike had said somethng an hour before that Wayde needed a diaper, so I assumed he did it since I was bust cooking. Nope.

So I had to stop dinner prep to mop the floor and get the boy a diaper and new pants.

Then after dinner, I had to do the dishes.

That evening I finally got some time to get on Facebook, and a friend had posted a happy mother's day to all the moms and said we all deserved to be treated like queens.

I just laughed. And didn't say anything.

And this isn't even counting all the times the boys talked back to me, ignored me, acted like maniacs when all I wanted to do was rest...you know, usual crap.

Mother's Day is just SUCH a joke.

Oh, MY! You fixed your own dinner AND did the dishes....

Yes, someone (a not-yet-a-mother) sent me a mother's day E-card that said, "I hope you enjoyed your day of being pampered!"

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!
