I'm a Lyme newbie. I have been trying to find a doctor so I can begin treating this illness I've had for 14 years. I think I may have found him...

If any of you are interested, I would love your opinions on the phone call I had with this doctor. I have my own thoughts about it, but you have all been around the block a few times (pardon the expression) and might see some red flags I would miss.

My blog is www.carryonkristin.blogspot.com if any of you are willing to share any advice or opinions with me. Thanks so much!

HI MB11:

I read your blog, welcome. I can't comment on your LLMD but if he follows Dr. B's "Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease" you should be in good hands. From his questons he did sound knowledgeable.

One positive on the WB is not indicative if its one of the non LB bands but you should have it redone at Igenex.

Also with the heat besides thyroid issues (lyme symptom) there may be a co infection present (Babs & / or Bart) and these should be tested along with your CD 57

Our experience (its my daughter with Lyme) is we went through 8 MD's over 8 months so we do know when an MD is more lyme literaate than the infectious disease MD, rheumatolotist MD or neuralogist, etc.

Unfortuntaely others here, like yourself went years b/4 the right diagnosis.

Good luck and you are now on the right path.

He sounded very helpful and I don't think it could hurt to give him a try. If he really doesn't end up helping you then you can always fire him [Smile]

You found him by Googling?? Yikes. Have you tried names on the list provided by folks here at Lymenet? I would at least see if he's on the list!!

He sure is "intriuged" a lot.

One of my mantras on finding a good LLMD is to find at least 3 happy, satisfied customers of the dr... and not those who just found the dr.. those who have gotten WELL.

Just some thoughts I hope you will find to be helpful.

Lymetoo: No, I didn't find him by googling, I just found some reviews written about him by doing a google search.

I actually received a list from someone here on lymenet that had lots of names. His name was on the list, and I contacted his office and some others that were also on the list. After making those phone calls, actually receiving a phone call back from this doctor in question, and reading reviews of all of them, I made my decision.

There were literally dozens of glowing reviews about this doctor including language like, "he saved my life...don't trust any other doctor...he made me better after so many other doctors tried and failed..." It was all of those rave reviews that made me look hard for the Too Good To Be True factor I spoke of in my blog.

We'll see how well this decision works out for me...

mamabear. If you want pm me the docs name and I will let you know about them if I have info. My llmd is in CT.

I find it odd he is moving you up the patient llist.... but oh well.

Good luck.

Mamabear,

He sounds like a very compassionate doctor. However, you need a LLMD not a doctor who wants to learn about Lyme by reading about it then treating you. He needs to get educated first, then treat. He stated that he is not an expert, so why consider him? You need the expert to get well.

Personally, I would not consider seeing any doctor or LLMD that wasn't treating this disease for years.

Listen to Lymetoo's advise. Very sound.

If you want to get well, go to the educated LLMD who has had good treatment results.

MamaBear.. that makes me feel a tiny bit better... but still suspicious. I hope it all works out for you. All we want is for you to get well. And you will need a good doctor to get you there!

Elaine, it was actually me who stated I was not an expert, lol. I had the chance to ask him lots of questions, and he seem quite knowledgeable about Lyme. But then I'm new to all of this myself so who knows if I was asking the right questions.

Melissa, thanks. I will PM you with his name, and one other I was considering.

Thanks everyone for looking out for me!

That's what I get for reading fast [bonk] Sorry.

If he has been treating Lyme and co-infections with good results it would be worth seeing him.

I wouldn't want my doctor to be a newbie with tick borne disease.

I hope it all works out well for you.
