I'm so NOT trying to promote a particular site, but a friend of mind had luck with homeworkers.org and has been working for the company to which she applied for for 7 years now. You can search their job database for free, but you DO have to pay their membership fee (small if I remember correctly) to be able to actually apply for a posted job.

If your crafty you can sell your things on Etsy.com. If you visit some shops there you can see

people are making some real $$! I have been doing it for a couple years. When I put a lot of effort

out listing I have been able to make about $600 mo. There are people making thousands! Gotta get creative and take good pics [Smile]

I have talent with jewelry-making and have been doing it for 16 yrs now.

You can sell things on Amazon and Ebay. If you are in charge, then you know it's a legitimate deal. You can sell your own things, or buy them at garage sales, flea markets, etc.

I once had a legit freelance work at home job proofreading citations for a publisher, but they didn't work with a written contract. I got the referral through a college I attended at the time. After the first couple of months, they delayed and delayed paying me, and finally said they had cash flow issues and did not have enough money to pay me for a while, yet they kept sending me work. When they owed me for a couple months, I resigned. I never did get the rest of the money. It was only a few hours a week anyway.

I know there are scams that say "stuffing envelopes" when what they want is for you to pay to place ads and try to get leads to respond. IF anybody answers your ad and you send them a brochure, THEN you supposedly get paid for stuffing that envelope. Works out to a lot of time and money for almost no pay even if they do what they say they will.

There are also scams for assembling small products at home. I have heard that when you turn them in, they say most of your items don't meet their quality standards, so they won't pay for them.

I would be suspicious of anybody asking you to pay any money to apply for a job. If it is legit, the people seeking the employees should pay for the ads. The job seekers should not have to pay.

I don't know anything about the site mentioned above. You could check the Better Business Bureau website to see if anybody has filed complaints against them or not.

There is now a profession called "Virtual Assistant" in which you can be a freelance secretary to one or more small business owners, and do the work by internet and phone.

I believe medical transcriptionists are often freelancers who work from home. There may be training classes for this through local community colleges. There are also correspondence or online classes that may or may not be legitimate.

You can be a freelance writer for someone else's blog. The pay is very low, but they may pay you per article or a percentage of the eventual amount the article earns from ads. There are websites where you can find listings for blog writers wanted. Your favorite large blog or blog network may also have an info page for people wanting to write for them.

You could start your own blog or website and try to grow it until you have enough readers to make money from advertising or selling ebooks or actual products like crafts, but that could take a lot of time and commitment which most of us can't manage, and might not make any money for a long time. But you could do it from your computer for the cost of a website, and if you made any money, it would all be yours.
