Last night at around 9pm my DD asked us if it was OK for her to hang out with her future college roommate for a little while.

I was dumbstruck and at a loss for words. Hubby immediately said "of course" And so she did. The roomie picked her up and shortly thereafter dropped her back home. They went for ice-cream.

It occurred to me that my DD hadn't done something normal like this for years. She's been homebound, in bed, for most of HS.

So I got a taste of what "normal" feels like. It was like a slap in the face---s slap of "normal". And wow, it felt really really good.

Of course my fingers and toes are crossed for her future. She is going into nursing and wants to be in the NICU.

Please keep her in your prayers.

Congratulations to your daughter and your family!!

I used to work on a L&D/postpartum/nursery floor and also took care of babies during 10 years as a Visiting Nurse.

I bet your daughter will use her empathy and experience to help alot of people.

Prayers for continued improving health and a great year at College.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and support. It is a wonderful, yet scary time. It's been such a long and hard road with a lot of set-backs. I pray we are past the major set-backs. Best of health to you all.
