I tried the 5 hr energy drink last night. It did not work for me but made things worse. FYI

Yep. Sad but true. Anything that promises a boost to others is likely a blast and then a slam back down for lyme patients. I don't think anyone should be taking that, though.

Adrenal support is much more stable: ashwagandha, SIBERIAN Ginseng, cordyceps, rhodiola (but even that can be too stimulating for some or alone). Fish oil. Magnesium for the ATP support that we have to have to make energy.

A cup of Green Tea can be good, as it has a balance of support and calming ingredients.

And, also, when fatigue hits, rest is best, not pushing. Hope you feel better today. Magnesium may help balance out the effects of being blasted.

This is the supplement that works best for me, suggested by my ND:

http://www.5hourenergy.com/ingredients.asp

5-Hour Original contains:

. . . Phenylalanine . . . Caffeine (both are far too excitatory for lyme patients.)

(For some lyme patients, beyond the level in some foods, Phenylalanine supplements can cause seizures, anxiety, heart rhythm irregularities, etc.)

(The "proprietary" blend also bothers me tremendously as people have the right to know exactly how much Phenylalanine and how much Caffeine they are consuming. The label will not disclose that. If you call them, they will not either. A dangerous practice.)

Natural and Artificial Flavor (which can mask MSG and gluten) . . .

Sucralose (that is Spendla, a neurotoxic artificial sweetener)

Sodium Benzoate (not good for human consumption)

(Plastic bottle can leach out petroleum products including BPA and other endocrine disruptors and carcinogens)

Sorry it didn't help you. I didn't like the way 5 Hour Energy made me feel, either. Which surprised me, because coffee tends to help me greatly.

But sometimes depending even on the brand of coffee, I will get a "bad buzz" (figity and irritable with no real energy benefits) instead of a good experience (good energy, better version of my usual self). So I only have certain coffees I drink, and certain ones I avoid like the plague.

Strange, I know.
