Good Evening Friends,

I responded on last weeks God Thought...hopefully to all of you who posted. May you be blessed by His truths!

"And now these three remain Faith, Hope, and Love but the greatest of these is Love" 1 Corinthians 13:13.

I was thinking about a deaf missionary I know who was in Argentina. The deaf in Argentina had no word/sign for "grace" and this young missionary had planned to sign "Amazing Grace"...he ended up using the sign "love" instead of "grace' and it worked.

I recently posted this song on Facebook. It is another one of my favorite songs,

"Your Grace Still Amazes Me" by Phillips, Craig, and Dean.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNClAJO2tnQ

Friends, His grace STILL does amaze me...as does His crazy love for me...for us!

Pray you have a good night's rest with His healing touch. Have a great blessed week.

Good morning friends,

Well...yeah it's morning, birds are singing and I am singing. Beautiful song daisy. I like your story above.

I went back and re-read the postings. guestion for you...

Jesus was FULLY HUMAN. He cried at the tomb of Lazarus. He cried looking out over Jerusalem. He turned over the money changing tables in the temple and wielded a whip. He got angry and yet did not sin...He was angry with a pure heart. Now that's something to think about

How did He not sin when He was angry? How do you be angry with a pure heart?
We had a discussion way back...Anger is murder...remember?

I will continue to have Faith, Hope and Love today, and not think of tomorrow before it gets here. "Crazy love"...I like that to.

Good day to ALL my God Thought friends.

Good morning friends,

daisy,

First, thank you for continued prayers for my son, Andrew's, safety. I forgot to post that last night.

1 Corinthians 13:13 is one of my very favorite scriptures.

I also loved the story about the missionary and Amazing Grace.

Very pretty song..."Your Grace Still Amazes Me".

MDW,

It's a new day and I can feel the hope in your "voice".

I'm so glad you will continue to have Faith, Hope and Love today. [kiss]

You are never alone. God is right there beside you.

Blessings for a good day!

Not nice....you know that song makes me cry.

God gets angry. Anger is not a sin. God created anger like He created love, sorrow, trees, birds.

And God has every right to be angry with us all the time, sinners that we are. But He's not, thank goodness! He loves us instead!! We are His children.

He got angry with the Israelites. They would cry out to him from 40 years of captivity, he would rescue them from captivity, and they would spend the next 40 years turning their backs on him on him and worshipping idols instead. He'd get angry and allow them to become slaves again.

This cycle happened over and over again for hundreds of years and those people just weren't getting it! If I remember correctly, the cycle was 40 yrs of captivity, 40 years of freedom and idol worship, 40 years of captivity, and over and over.

God is very, very patient but His patience does run out. He says as much.

Sin makes Him angry. That's why he threw Lucifer out of heaven!

It's like my dad. I would do something wrong as a kid, well let's take my brother instead [Smile]

My little brother would disobey and my dad would gently remind him. He'd disobey again and my dad would more firmly remind him. Little brother would disobey again and my dad would get angry.

But dad would know by then that the disobeying was not forgetfulness but a choice to disobey. A choice to sin, and Dad would be rightfully angry. Anger is an emotion and emotions are not wrong or bad in themselves.

Dad wouldn't hit him or slap him (spank maybe) but he acted out of love. Dad wouldn't put him down or insult him but you could see the anger in his eyes and hear it in his voice.

And when he was angry, he would get my brother's full attention, and repentence. Dad gave his forgiveness and then life could move forward.

No, being angry is not sinful in and of itself. What we do with our anger can be sinful.

Sin angers God. Most especially when it's done in His name like the guys in the temple were doing. "In the name of God, give us your money" sort of thing. Not good to lead people to God for your own benefit, lying between your teeth.

There are plenty of people around today (maybe some TV evangelists?) who do stuff like that and the Lord gets real angry.

But it's a righteous anger for sure. He has every right to be angry about stuff like that.

God can't look at sin, he literally has to turn away from it. That's why he had to turn away from Jesus who was covered with our sin as he hung on the cross. I believe that was the most painful part for Jesus, to have his father turn away from him.

17hens,

Thanks I am understanding now. You say...

God can't look at sin, he literally has to turn away from it. That's why he had to turn away from Jesus who was covered with our sin as he hung on the cross. I believe that was the most painful part for Jesus, to have his father turn away from him.

I did not know this. Where can I find this in my bible? I need to read more about this. Very sad, that made my heart hurt.

Oh, is this when Jesus said why have you forsaken me?

I will eventually get my face on [Big Grin] it's half done. So many guestions, one more.....Daisy where in the bible is Jesus in the manger(sp?) and when Jesus was 12?

I realize I'm not daisy, but since I am here this morning, I thought I'd see what I could find...

Jesus in the manger
Luke 2:7-16

Jesus in the temple at 12
Mark 15:33-39

Jesus on the cross
John 19:19-26

Written in the clift notes in my Bible for this passage, it says, "Jesus did not ask this question in surprise or despair. He was quoting the first line of Psalm 22. The whole psalm is a prophecy expressing the deep agony of the Messiah's death for the world's sin.

Jesus knew that he would be temporarily separated from God the moment he took upon himself the sins of the world. This separation was what he had dreaded as he prayed in Gethsemane. The physical agony was horrible but the spiritual alienation from God was the ultimate torture."

I realize it doesn't specifically say here that God turned His face away. Maybe I learned it in a song.

I did find this passage though...
Isaiah 59:2
But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

This explains Jesus's anger in the temple and when people worship idols...
Exodus 20:5
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

(This reminds me of the lyrics of a song. Something like "whatever you think of more than Him is an idol"). For some people that's money or sex. For me, it's this darn illness. Forgive me, Lord.

Yes, I knew all these verses off the top of my head... I'm the Bible expert.... NOT!!!!
I used www.biblegateway.com

God, hiding his face from sin -

Isaiah 64:7
No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and made us waste away because of our sins.

Ezekiel 39:23
And the nations will know that the people of Israel went into exile for their sin, because they were unfaithful to me. So I hid my face from them and handed them over to their enemies, and they all fell by the sword.

Daisyrib,

Your posts last night, with such thorough explanations were such a blessing to us all.

And I loved the music this morning. Its a great way to get, and keep in the right frame of mind.

17Hens,
Thanks for the bible verses about sin. I had been focused on how GOd forgives sin, and had not fully contemplated how much He hates it, and how it alienates us from him.

I will spend some time examining my life, especially my focus on this disease.

MDW, I am praying for you. I understand how deep hurt and pain can be so hard. I've been there.

I keep thinking about a verse, I think its in Phillipians... how He began a good work in me, and will continue to do that.

I trust that He will not ever forsake me, no matter my sin, my inattention, or my wanderings.

With this disease, I have been sorely tested.

All I can do, when nothing makes sense, is to keep trusting

He will carry us through this.. and He will heal us. I am confident of that.

I am very grateful to all of you.

Just to be clear, I'm not focusing on sin. That would defeat Christ's purpose in giving us freedom from sin.

I was just trying to find answers to Diane's questions.

Hens?? Mark 15:33-39 is the death of Jesus not age 12 in the temple. Finshed all the reads. I will hmmm.... sit and enjoy the weather while I wait for that scripture.

oh oh..hoho... that manger thing people put under there tree at Christmas, what is it called? I would like to understand it before I go putting things under the tree.
and where is the story in the bible about the three kings men and the drummer boy?
I know there is more than Santa claus and Christmas songs. I also know we have a couple more holidays till then...But I want to do Christmas right this year.

sojo... thank you so much for prayer...but I will be alright.
Dekrator got me back on track, and daisy and Hens. The best place for me to be is in my books, and all of you. Thank you dear family.

I might need those knee pads before Christmas [Smile]

Hi MDW,

The manger thing is called a Nativity. I have a rustic barn-type structure and figurines that go in and around it.

I don't put mine under my tree though, I put it on a table in my living room.

My grandsons love looking at it, but the figurines are old (were my grandmother's), so I found a non-breakable one at a yard sale that they can play with.

Continue to dream big! I pray your dream comes true for your birthday.

I can hardly keep up with you here..with all the reading and questions! [Big Grin] [dizzy] [lol]

I am so thankful to hear that you feel like you are back on track. Thanks be to God!!!!

17hens,

Thank you so much for all those explanations and references. I loved the story explaning sin and anger using your Dad and little brother [lol] as examples....great!!!

daisy,

No matter how many times I listen to that song, "At the Cross" it makes me cry too.

sprite,

So glad you got a LLMD appt. I will pray for you...that you will have your financial need met and will feel peace. Big hugs to you!!!

[group hug] [group hug] [group hug]

sjo,

I found this verse...not sure if it's the one you were thinking about...

Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Dekrator... Keep up girlfriend! [lol] Thanks for the nativity word. whats it about? Do you know where the story is in the bible?

I got really super bored waiting on 17hens, so...
I picked Daisy's song apart. Now tell me if I am wrong...this song is telling me...

That Jesus's cross was heavy and the blood was real and the price was costly and He paid it for us. This is GRACE.
Grace is a gift from God because we believe.

God will show his mercy forever to those who worship him. Luke 1:50

So this tells me that we must give GRACE in return.
Grace teaches us to live righteously...Godly like.
teaches us to respond...hmmm..diligently; run errands for Him.

and rule ourseleves....live with self control, sober living.

God does the saving and we have to do the serving.
GRACE life keeps HOPE in our heart.
the end.

MDW,

Read Luke 2:1-15.

Back when religion was still allowed in public schools, my third grade teacher had each of us memorize those scriptures in Luke 2.

When we recited it back to her, she gave us a special bookmark with a Nativity scene on it. I still have it.

She also read Bible stories to us daily. She was a very stern woman, but I will never forget what she taught me.

I think you did a great job interpreting the song.

Every person could explain it a little differently but the message is basically the same.

You sure are on a roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a tandem bicycle! I'm on the handle bars and you family are doing the peddling. Thanks Dekrator.

Yes it is nice when spouce is out of town.. dont have to have a routine..I can think.

Let me guess, your teacher was a nun.
Maybe...you could share your interp. of the song?

I read Luke 2:1-21. There was not enough.
I think I learned more on Charlie Brown Christmas, it was 30 minutes.

Dekrator... I was relating to Daisy's first song.
I won't go there with "At The Cross," no way. That would mean I would have to get out my tear bucket.

MDW,

My third grade teacher was just a devout older woman, not a nun.

daisy or someone will come along, I'm sure and give you more scripture for the time of Jesus's birth.

I have to go get supper cooking now or we will be eating peanut butter. [dizzy]

OK, I'm back. Was at my son's soccer game. Came home in time to eat peanutbutter - don't knock it, Dekrator!

MDW said...
Mark 15:33-39 is the death of Jesus not age 12 in the temple.

Let's see, must have copied the wrong reference.
Try Luke 2:41-52.
You can read it here - http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+2&version=NIV

Oops, I see Dekrator already said that.

And Matthew chapter 2 talks about the magi (wisemen) who worshipped Jesus.
You can read it here - http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+2&version=NIV

Sorry to say, but I think the little drummer boy is a made up story.

I went to wikipedia with Nativity word. That was a lot of reading. Then I went to find what Magi meant...that was alot of reading! I also read bible gateway Luke and Matthew.

My eyes are tired and brain cells. I do have one more guestion...
Do the Magi go in the scene during or after Christmas? Do I wait one week for travel?

Okay I am done.

I know this isn't directly related to love ... well, I guess it really is. About His love for us.

No matter how far we go, how much we sin, He is always there for us. Fighting for us and loving us.

This is incredibly powerful. I've seen it many times and it always makes me cry.... happy tears!

http://www.learnthebible.org/what-is-grace.html

What is Grace?

Please explain Grace. What is grace? What does grace do for me?

Grace in mentioned 170 times in the Bible. Consider some of the ways it can be defined:

1.Grace is God's unmerited favor. That is, grace is God doing good for us that we do not deserve.

In the Bible, grace and mercy are like two heads of the same coin.

Mercy is God withholding judgment or evil that I deserve; grace is God giving me blessing or good that I do not deserve.

Because of God's mercy, I do not receive the judgment of God against my sins; because of God's grace, I receive eternal life and a promise of heaven though I do not deserve them.

Both mercy and grace come to me though the Lord Jesus Christ.
------
2.Grace can also be defined as God's sufficiency or God's fullness in the life of the believer.

God told Paul, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

That is, the grace of God in Paul enabled him and empowered him in his weakness.

Another verse states, "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:8).

God's grace working in us supplies the sufficiency whereby we may abound to every good work.

I like to call grace "God's enoughness."

By this I mean that God is enough for us no matter what the situation we face.
-----
This being the case, you can see that grace is first of all necessary for salvation.

Ephesians 2:8 states, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

One aspect of salvation is called justification. That is the act by which we are declared just (righteous) before God on the basis of the payment Jesus Christ made for our sin.

The Bible clearly teaches that we are justified by the grace of God (Romans 3:24; Titus 3:7).

But not only are we saved by the grace of God--we also serve the Lord and live the Christian life by the grace of God.

The letters of Paul always speak of a blessing of grace for the believers (along with peace).

Just for an example, Romans 1:7 states, "Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ."

Paul is speaking to believers who are already saved and on their way to heaven, but he also recognizes that they need grace for living the Christian life.

They need God's strength and sufficiency.

A good verse to help explain this grace by which we live is 1 Corinthians 15:10 where Paul testified, "But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."

It was God's grace that made him what he was. It was God's goodness working in him that made him the great servant of God he was.

So, obviously, we also need the grace of God. We need it first of all for salvation.

Without the grace of God, we cannot have eternal life. However, we also need the grace of God for our daily walk with God.

We are weak and prone to stray. Jesus told us that we can do nothing without Him (John 15:5).

But God provides daily strength through His grace working in us. We should seek this grace for living from him.

Then, we should believe that He will provide what He has promised and walk with assurance that His grace is working in us.

--------------------------------------------
Good night, dear God friends. I'll pray and ask Him for grace for us all.

Well! why did you not put the 170 times down here...No, just joking. not real sure about this:
explain, do I dare ask?

A good verse to help explain this grace by which we live is 1 Corinthians 15:10 where Paul testified, "But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."

What does this mean:
Ephesians 2:8 states, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."
And that not of yourselves....I do not understand.

Romans, Titus, Corinthians ????
I am going back to Proverbs and Psalms! WOW.
Too much for me, because I enjoy looking up everything that is posted.
I think I have chores to do today, like clean my home!

Very good information, thank you for sharing this Hens. WOW again... that was alot!

Everyone have a beautiful day.

Don't think I wrote all that! I just copied and pasted. Your note about Grace got me investigating and I thought that bit was worth sharing!
------------
MDW wrote, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."
And that not of yourselves....I do not understand.
----------------
This means that our salvation is a gift offered to us by God/Jesus (by His grace and love for us) that we need only accept. No work that we could do, no words that we could say, would ever make us worthy of spending eternity with God. Only by His grace are we offered such a gift (which we don't deserve). We merely need to accept the gift.

A king rides down a city street in a chariot. He sees a beggar sitting on the side of the road. The king decides to present the beggar with a gift. He offers the beggar a room in the castle.

The beggar's response can be...

1. No thanks.

2. That would be super, thank you! You know, I always have told people how generous and kind you are. I can wash your shoes right now, and when I get to the castle, I can mow the lawn.

3. Good king, there is no other like you. Although I am completely unworthy of your gift, in my ragged clothes without a nickle to my name, I gladly accept.

That verse means that response #3 is the only one that pleases the King.

Good morning friends,

I will go back later and read all about the magi, grace, etc. when I get a chance.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NASB)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

17Hens...thanks again, I understand now.

I was cleaning a bathroom, and another guestion popped in my head...

You say that God hates sin and turns His face away. Well...ok..God is ALL..so who is forgiving us from our sins -

bathroom chemicals... Need to go rest for a bit.

The way I've heard it explained is that Christ's gift to us, thru his death, is that he stands between us and God.

That way when God looks at us, He sees the blameless Christ.

Christ "covers" us. He is our link, our bridge, to God.

I really like that image. Makes me feel safe and loved and special.

Oh, to answer your question, God forgives us for our sins when we accept the salvation gift from Christ.

Good evening,
I think I might need a link to understand better.
For some reason I cannot leave alone..I always need to pick things apart. -
God is ALL....So how can He stand between us?

I believe what you are saying is true and I really like your image also....so how come I
cannot leave it alone?

Dekrator....Guess what?....I understood Galations
5:22-23!
You doing Okay? Where you be?

Good Evening Friends,

Everyone reading this thread...hasn't it been great?!! Hasn't it been encouraging?!! Really a God-Shot in the arm. I am so glad you are here!

MDW,

I am so glad you are here on God Thought. You keep me on my knees (and you can't stop me), you keep me on my toes, you keep me reading my Love Letter from my Beloved...Thank you dear friend!!!

I am dreaming big with you for this Sunday on your birthday!

I like the way you picked "my" song apart...was that before or after it made you cry...oh, it must have been after. [Wink]

17hens,

I am so glad you are here on God Thought. I am blessed with your scriptures, explanations, and comments. I know I'm not the only one who is blessed.

WOW, that took a lot of time for you to do all that research and then sharing in numerous posts. Thank you! [Big Grin]

I, too, really like www.Biblegateway.com and also googling.

Thanks for sharing the link "What is Grace?". That is the first time I've seen "Learn the Bible" website. Great info! I like the definition, "I like to call grace 'God's enoughness.'" Beautiful!

Peanuts and peanut butter is good, however I've discovered I like almond butter better...too bad, too, because it's A LOT more expensive. I just ate a ration of my almond butter with sliced pears. Yummy.

Dekrator,

I am so glad you are here on God Thought. Thank you for sharing the story about the bookmark with the Nativity on it. That's so special. [kiss]

For a while I was collecting Nativities and kept them out all year long. Now I just keep one out (well, in a China closet). It is very special to me. I used to work at Billy Graham in the publishing department and one of the writers gave it to me. It is a globe (filled with something/water) and made out of Olive Wood from Holy Land. Anyway, I put all of the Nativities out at Christmas time throughout the house in all the bedrooms (if one gets broken...oh well). However, Dekrator, I also have one special one for my grandchildren to play with and any other children that come around.

You share, "I can hardly keep up with you here..with all the reading and questions!" Yeah, I know what you mean, I would post more but reading is taking more time. [lol]

sprite8,

I am so glad you are here on God Thought. Thank you for the exciting update. God opened the door for the doctor, surely he'll provide the resources!

You share, "Cares for you and a plan for your life" Ummmm, oh yeah and AMEN!!!

Nellers78,

I'm so glad you are here on God Thought. Thank you for sharing, "Lifehouse's Everything Skit" Ohhhhh WOW!!!! I'm so thankful our God is relentless in His pursuit of His Bride...that would be us (ok, get ready for MDW's questions). I'm glad I'm not missing this dance. He is the BEST dancer!

sjo

I am so glad you are here on God Thought. Thank you for your encouragement to all of us...especially the encouragement to keep trusting.

You share, "He will carry us through this...and He will heal us. I am confident of that"...I am, too, and He is!!! Hallelooo!!

Friends, Everyone have a joy-flled, peace-filled evening.

What a great Bible study! I do appreciate each of you...we're all in this together...one for all and all for one! [group hug]

I think when God sees His children "playing" on God Thought...He smiles really big...after all He is crazy in love with us!!!! Have I told you that lately???? Yeah, I thought so!!! [dizzy] [lol]

OOPS...can't process as too many Graemlins...hold your horses...I'm deleting a few...Ooops deleting a few more...

Bride you say, I get that! from songs you have posted in the past. Now I understand the skit better. Thanks. Haha I didnt have to ask a guestion.

You can happily blame Dekrator, she says "JUST DO IT".... I did! Thank you Dekrator.

OK....This is not asking a guestion because I already asked it earlier.... The wisemen what do I do with them?

Oh, you know what? I am going to accept Hens answer to my above post and leave it alone.

 - look, this is duct tape.
It will be quiet for a little while tomorrow. I have dog pick up, Birthday shopping for Zach's B-day on Sat. and a bunch of other errands.
I won't have time for opening my mouth.. so Dekrator's turn.

MDW said, "For some reason I cannot leave alone..I always need to pick things apart."

That's just like my mom's brain. I understand a little of how that kind of brain works and I'm not offended.

Are you, MDW, "going to accept Hens answer to the above post" because you understand it or just because you don't want to offend? Or because cleaning the house pooped you out?!

I don't mind if you pick it apart. Really. You can be honest with me.

I appreciate your challenging questions, MDW. I find that when I accept the challenge, I am forced to think thru things I have learned and am blessed in the process (by the researching, sctripture reading, thinking thru, etc.).

Thank YOU, Diane, for your questions.

Good night all my God Thought friends!

Good morning God Thought friends,

Well....where to start??

MDW,

I had an appt and some errands to do yesterday and then my grandsons came for supper and stayed later because they don't have school today.

Also having more neck/head/shoulder pain this week and I find that being on the computer (the posture and being in one postion for awhile) aggravates it.

But thanks for your concern for my whereabouts, Diane. [Wink]

Glad you decided to "Just Do It" and that you understood Galations 5:22-23.

I love your duct-taped graemlin!!...but glad you won't be keeping the duct tape on! [lol]

nellers,

Thanks for posting that video about Lifehouse's Everything Skit.

I never saw it before.

daisy,

I enjoyed reading what you shared with each of us and about all your Nativities.

If it weren't for my grandsons, I wouldn't even care about decorating a tree this year, but looking at my Nativity always makes me feel good.

17hens,

Whew!! Thanks for all your work posting about the meaning of grace. [bow] and everything you contribute.

I especially liked the clever example about the king and the beggar!

MDW....I can't think of a single question this morning. I bet you'll have some when you get back here. [Big Grin]

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Psalm 62:7 (NIV)

Dekrator...great verse...Psalm 62:7...AMEN! Sorry you've been in pain. Praying for you today!

God Thought Friends...Good Morning. This is a beautiful song and the words with the song are not the words from the song...a beautiful message...

Dekrator... I am s---y you are feeling pain. I will pray for you friend.

Daisy.. that is an "I love you"--Jesus Christ song.
Had to wipe another tear from my eye.

Dekrator you are so right...tape has come off.

God became man in the person of Jesus Christ in order to make up for Adam's sin.

God hates sin, so my guestion is... did Adam go to hell, because Jesus wasn't around yet to be the bridge...

ps.....I don't want to do anymore guestions; save this one for me...ok?

That song "I Love You"--Jesus Christ.....WOW!!!

Beautiful..made me cry.

MDW,

Thank you for your prayers, and I know I can't stop you, because you can't stop me!! [Big Grin] [lol] [Wink]

Oh boy...you asked another hard question that I will have to leave for someone else to answer.

Dear MDW,

You share, "Now I understand the skit better. Thanks. Haha I didnt have to ask a guestion." OK, Miss Smarty Pants...go ahead and deprive us of a good Bible Study and laugh. [lol]

You share, "You can happily blame Dekrator, she says "JUST DO IT".... I did! Thank you Dekrator." I second what Dekrator says, "JUST DO IT" and do not deprive us of a good Bible study and laugh. [Razz]

Then you share, "OK....This is not asking a guestion because I already asked it earlier.... The wisemen what do I do with them?"

If you don't mind, I WOULD like to talk about the wise man. When I read my LOVE LETTER, First, I read for the context of the time that it was written...so that I understand the original meaning. Then I fast forward to today...look up and ask, "Lord, are you trying to tell me something?" He usually is--Thank God!!!

So...keeping that in mind, what might the Lord be speaking to my heart about the wise men or what thoughts do I have as I read these verses? I don't know...so here goes...I'm just thinking out loud as I reading Matthew 2:1-12 (in italics), New Living Translation:

"Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, ``Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.''

King Herod was deeply disturbed when he heard this, as was everyone in Jerusalem. He called a meeting of the leading priests and teachers of religious law and asked, ``Where is the Messiah supposed to be born?''

``In Bethlehem in Judea,'' they said, ``for this is what the prophet wrote:

`And you, O Bethlehem in the land of Judah,
are not least among the ruling cities of Judah,
for a ruler will come from you
who will be the shepherd for my people Israel.'''

Then Herod called for a private meeting with the wise men, and he learned from them the time when the star first appeared. Then he told them, ``Go to Bethlehem and search carefully for the child. And when you find him, come back and tell me so that I can go and worship him, too!''

After this interview the wise men went their way. And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were filled with joy!

They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

When it was time to leave, they returned to their own country by another route, for God had warned them in a dream not to return to Herod."

Oh, King Jesus...do I search for you, far and wide as the wise men did?

When someone is so excitedly looking for you am I excited for them/with them or am I like King Herod and all Jerusalem "disturbed"...My paraphrase, "What's with those guys?" forgetting who You are and what You've done for me?

Why do I seek You Jesus? Is it to get silver and gold from you or am I coming to You with a gift? Do I have ulterior motives or do I just come to worship You?

The wise men saw the star and knew it was a sign from You, God...and followed the star. When I sense you show me a sign...am I like the wise men...full of faith and "go for it"?

Then when they did not see the star for a little bit...but did finally see it again...they were "filled with joy". Am I filled with joy at your sign posts in my life.

When I enter your presence, when was the last time I bowed down and worshiped You?

When You show me something (like you showed the wise men in the dream) am I as quick to obey and really believe that I am "hearing" "seeing" from You?

My Dear Jesus,

You are the King of the Jews...and I thank You that You are my King. I surrender to You. I bow my knee to You. You are so worthy. Forgive me of all the times I think that I am sufficient in myself...how foolish. Help me to be a wise woman and seek You in everything...I surely do need You.

I come to You just to worship You, Jesus, because You are so worthy. If I had gold and silver I would give it to You...everything I do have, my King, I give to You...and that would be all of me. You gave all of You for me...could I do any less? Help me to give all of me.

May a be a woman of faith, filled with joy, as I walk boldly in the truths and signs you have shown me, not wavering but believing You totally.

I worship You. I worship You. I worship You. [bow]

I love You, Jesus.

God Thought Friends...I did not know what was going to happen to me as I started sharing about the wise...right now I just want to continue worshiping Him. (I had planned to respond to your posts but not tonight.)

I leave you with this song as I worship Him and thank Him for all He has done for me since I believed...I truly have never been the same.

God bless each of you. God Night. [group hug]

Good morning friends!

daisy,

Wow!! I appreciate all that you shared about the wise men, the self-reflection and your prayer.

I am always in awe of the depth of your thoughts and thankfulness.

You are a source of strength to me, with the biggest source being our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The song "I Will Never Be the Same Again" is beautiful.

My dear friends,

I know you won't believe this but it is true!
I have been informed that my whole family will be going to church with me in the morning!!!!

No way! yes way!....No.. OH yes! Can you believe that!

I will most likely pray that God thumps them on the forehead or slaps the back of there head to keep them awake, but at least they are coming.

For everyone that prayed that my big dream become reality.... Thank you. Now I hope they do not change there mind when morning comes.
I know they are only doing for my birthday, but maybe just maybe some of my family will at least feel God for a moment?

God does answer our prayers.

I pray that each of them (and you too!) feels encouragement and hope that will change their lives forever....it may not happen quickly, but every seed planted can grow eventually....

The biggest hugs ever for a wonderful birthday!!!

Mark 10:27 (NIV)

Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."

Good afternoon my dear God friends,
I have had a beautiful blessed Sunday.
My family went to church with me. I have had a smile on my face all day so far.

God did touch my Kameron. So sweet he is. He listened to the gospel eagerly. Nelt on his knees praying, and he went up to recieve the offering with me. When we came back to sit, he nelt again and was practicing holding his hands in the position of taking communion again.

Brought a tear to my eye and joy to my heart. Kameron leans into my ear and says "Momma, I will go to church with you every Sunday...But, I am not taking the bread again, they can just pray for me instead." [lol] I was proud of Kameron for not spitting it in my hand.

Only one member did not come, and I will pray for that member.

thank you each and every one of you for your prayers and birthday wishes.
THANK YOU GOD!!!

Now I am looking forward to my dinner. I have not had a special day for me in a very long time. I am enjoying my LORDS day and my day. I pray that all of you are enjoying your day as well.

Oh I almost forgot...Daisy the gospel...
Joel 2:23-32
2 Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18
Luke 18:9-14
Psalm 65

I understood today [Smile]
Diane

Oh, one more... Paster said this...
Almighty and Everlasting God, give unto us the increase of faith, hope and charity; and, that we may obtain that which thou dost promise, make us to love that which thou command; though Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Pray This...

Prayer of Release

I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return. 2 Timothy 1:12 NLT

Heavenly Father, I release to You the burdens that I have been carrying, burdens that You never intended for me to carry. I cast all my cares upon You--all my worries, all my fears. You have told me not be anxious about anything, but rather to bring everything to You in prayer with thankfulness.

Father, calm my restless spirit, quiet my anxious heart, still my troubling thoughts with the assurance that You are in control. I let go of my grip upon the things I have been hanging onto, with opened hands I come to You. I release to Your will all that I am trying to manipulate; I release to Your authority all that I am trying to control; I release to Your timing all that I have been striving to make happen.

I thank You for Your promise to sustain me, preserve me, and guard all that I have entrusted to Your keeping. Protect my heart and mind with Your peace, the peace that passes all understanding. Father, may Your will be done in my life, in Your time, and in Your way.

Scriptures: Psalm 55:22, 1 Peter 5:7, Philippians 4:6, Matthew 6, Isaiah 26:3, Luke 11:2

fflutterby,

Thank you for sharing the "Meet Me In The Meadow" devotional prayer. I say a BIG AMEN and AMEN!

The prayer, "I let go of my grip upon the things I have been hanging onto, with opened hands I come to You."

Coming to Him with "open hands" is beautiful and with that I have an idea for this new week's God Thought.

Blessings Everyone!
