Last week I left a meeting with my disability attorney around 5 p.m. I was fatigued and had been experiencing more brain fog than usual.

I called my husband, who was stuck in traffic due to construction that would make our fifteen minute drive home a two hour ordeal. He suggested I hang out in town until the traffic cleared.

I decided that I might as well get the marketing done, so I went to Trader Joes and started my shopping. When I was about 2/3 of the way down the first aisle a man came up to me and said "I'm sorry, but you have my shopping cart."

I looked down and realized that, while we did have about the same number of items, it was indeed, not my cart. I apologized and made a joke about wanting the pizza in his cart and continued on my way.

Imagine my dismay, when two aisles later the same man approached me and said "Excuse me, but you have my cart again." [confused]

Now, thoroughly embarrassed I apologized profusely and quickly grabbed the eight or so items I had loaded into his cart.

I stood there, feeling totally overwhelmed and sheepishly asked, "Do you have any idea where my cart is?"

Bless his heart, he took me by the elbow to the end of the aisle and pointed to a cart two aisles away. I quickly went to the cart and started unloaded my items.

Then...a woman came up to me and said, "Why are you putting those in MY cart?"

I would have given my last dollar to have been a Harry Potter character who could disappear on the spot!!! But given I haven't mastered that talent yet, I managed to take my items and locate my cart.

Now, all I REALLY wanted to do was go home. So I took a few minutes to just stand there and compose myself. I decided to put on my big girl panties and finish the shopping - which I did, but you can bet that I never let go of my cart again!

I have told this story over and over again to friends and family. With each telling it gets funnier and funnier and people have been rolling with laughter!

The fun I've had telling this story far out-weighs the mortification I felt at the time.

If you made it this far, I hope I made you smile [Smile] [Smile]

[lol] HILARIOUS [lol]

Next time you go shopping tie a red string around your shopping cart.

Two weeks ago I went grocery shopping at Whole Foods, paid for my grocerys, left them there and went home.

The horror was that I didn't realize what I had done until I got inside my apt. I have one of those carts with a fold over canvas so you can't see the grocerys. Your story however was by far much funnier.

Thanks for the laugh,

Gael
