I am completely ignorant. I see "up" as the only response on a posting. What does that mean?

- That someone posts just to move the thread back up to the top for greater visibility. It's headline jockeying to be sure we don't miss something important or - if someone posted a good question but had no replies, someone is say, "hey, guys, please take a look." -

Any reply will bring it to the top .. so most of us just say "up."
You can also just type a (.) if you wanted to and it would count as a reply.
