Hi all,
Im currently unemployed. In alot of pain daily, and unable to apply for the type of jobs I used to do. I considered applying for disability but Im not sure if they would consider me disabled with a lyme diagnosis?

Also my mind wants to work so badly, I want to feel like a productive member of society. I don't want it to interfere with my getting better though.

Anyone have any advice on types of jobs to apply for that arent too stressful. I definately couldnt be on my feet all day, or do anything strenuous, or too stressful. It's hard enough to find a job nowadays without all these limitations.

Not sure what to do. My unemployment ran out and Im so financially strapped and feel like I'm a burdon on my family.

What kind of work did you do? I just went back after 4 months of treatment. It is not easy but it is part time and I am able to pull it off. I feel better, now that I can bring an income in. It also keeps my mind off this disease!

dont wait too long as the quarters roll past quickly. If you have a large gap of employment they may not approve you based on that.

Tell us what symptoms you suffer and we might be able to suggest different maladies.

Best if you can avoid the four letter word that starts with a "L" and ends with an "E" and has YM in the middle.

Like for me, doc said I could have been disabled because of my severe arthritis,,,and this was 6 years before I KNEW what was really wrong with me. and 15 years ago from now,,,now I dont qualify.

I think chronic fatigue and fibro are more recognized as real problems. Cognative issues are another area.

So in a nutshell, dont claim 'rhyme' and company,,,claim the symptoms and get well before you go back to work.

Has to be determined its likely long term before you get approved.

And probably wont get approved first time around,,,

seems system is built that way to deny those of need first time every time!!(some get it first time,,but darn few)

so apply today because it is like 6 months to a 2 year wait getting it.

I used to work in hospitals and nursing homes, but I was on my feet all day long, running around..and loved it. I could never do that now. I can barely go to the grocery store without collapsing in exhaustion.
I was dx with fibromyalgia, CFS. More recently lyme.
I've been applying for desk jobs, cust svce, receptionist...just wondering how I'll do at being upbeat and personable all day long when im in pain and exhausted. But I guess u never know till u try.
Can't believe fibromyalgia is considered a disability and lyme isnt..that's just crazy.
