I am currently off antibiotics since about 3 weeks ago. And the pain is back along with other symtpoms.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to go back on antibiotics or other drug but not sure now.

Part of the reason is I started doing the treadmill at home and dieting. Want to loose 25 pounds and can't do that while on DORYX or Doxy.

I know getting well is more important but it makes me feel good knowing I am exercising and dieting. Gives me something to look forward to. Since I don't want to do social things. For some reason I have no desire to be social or go anywhere.

I also have constant post nasal drip which I've had for the last 2 winters and I didn't have it while on antibiotics this fall and half of this winter. Think it's lyme related.

The other reason I didn't go back to dr is due to money. We have a high deductible that his company does pay for monthly and my husband had appt. this month so I didn't want to use the money for me.

Some pain comes and goes very quickly and other pain just moves around the joints. I keep thinking it will just go away some day.

Thanks for listening!

Why does doxy make you gain weight??

I would go on a strict anti-yeast diet and (you WILL lose weight!) and see if that relieves the rest of the pain you are having.

you could also try the gluten free diet at the same time

A lot of my pain went away by being gluten free .. and I also get joint pain from yeast.

PS.. How long have you had Lyme and how long did you treat?

I didn't mean to say Doxy makes me gain weight...i meant that I have to eat more while taking it because otherwise I get sick to my stomach.

Will have to look into that anti-yeast diet. I will google it. Thanks!

Didn't realize you can get joint pain from yeast! Thanks again!

I had obvious symptoms thru out summer but some of those symptoms I've had for like 12 years. Over past 1 or 2 years I've been to many dr's for different things that I now know are all Lyme related. Last summer I had severe all over ezcema and had extensive testing done with no answers to the cause. My dr. thinks Lyme related too.

I did 17 weeks of Doxy & Doryx. So not sure if this major flare last summer was a flare up or a new infection. Ticks with Lyme are very common around here especially the t-ball field where I coached my sons team. Plus I used to be an avid hiker in tick areas.

Thanks for replying!

You have been WAY undertreated and that is a concern. Why not try the anti-yeast diet .. provided below ...and see how you feel. It MIGHT be that you are dealing with more yeast than Lyme.. but I am concerned that you are still suffering from Lyme. It takes a long time to clear. WAY more than 17 wks.

Whatever you take, take at least 100 CFU's per day. Wish someone had told me that 10 yrs ago!

Candida diet and elimination:
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/021412.html

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."

Five Steps to Candida Elimination:

1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.

2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]

3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]

4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]

5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]
