The medical reporter of a major tv station finally contacted me and is interested in doing an interview with me about my Lyme disease.
I've worked very hard, investing numerous; enjoyable hours in trying to raise awareness.
The Rotary club is working on it, another TV station has forwarded my info on, the library declined due to lack of credentials/certifications even though I have the illness.
Of all the stations, this one is a good; major TV station, this was what my hope was for ALL of us.
I speak for us all, I pray this opens hearts and minds in understanding how we all suffer so much and how we have been left to fend for ourselves in many situations.

Interview still needs to be scheduled. Also the ch.3 medical reporter asks that I mention it to the Dr. first. I shall see her Tuesday. Also the reporter asked if she would support me in the interviewing process to help raise awareness.
Lyme: I like that "Strong" LOL LOL. Yes, I have done a lot of reading and will probably suggest the book I'm reading, "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Very awesome reading! Has everything one needs to acquire as far as knowledge. I've been taking my time reading it so I can remember it.

sbh93, It's a nice compliment, but believe me, I can only do this when I have energy.
My thought is this, I don't want to die knowing I could have done something and I didn't. Not all are called to be advocates, you are helping others on this site and keep that in mind.
I get tired, weak and my pain is nasty. Abx. IV is almost over and I'm no better, however, I am working with Inf. Disease Dr. and that's now probably going to HAVE TO change.
"Cure Unknown" is the first and best book I could read. Isn't it good!!!!!??????? Thank God they have such a wealth of information contained in it.

I'm not over thrilled. Why? The doctor may not respond well. She may not approve of the TV interview, but I am doing it unless it hinders any part of my disability hearing, and this will be up to my attorney.
I'll find out Tue. I may then need to/have to move on to another doctor because I'm declining in my ability to maintain standing/walking.
Good days, bad days. We all get'em! Right?

If there is a concern about your disability it may be a problem. Make sure they film you while you are sitting.

Lyme- Dr. was very supportive. Infact, I'posting something, make sure you read it, re: IV therapy Update.
I plan on sitting, believe you me. My Dr. is camera shy, but supports me on the interview, however, I've not heard back from the tv station. Hum....... now I'm just hoping they didn't change their mind.

Horse, how cool is this? ! Wow. How did you get them to interview you? I couldn't even get the local paper here to blink an eye. I asked them to put a short notice in the paper about me wanting to start a LD support group. They said they'd put it in , but it's yet to be seen. I tried the small county papers...they are agreeable. But just 3 short lines is all I get.
I left em my brochure. I'm gonna keep trying on my days off. Darnit, I won't give up!

Sometimes the wording has a lot to do with it. I use very creative vocabulary. I've always been a good writer, even in school. English teacher would tell me this.
I don't have difficulty anymore with stories, my problem is "Chicken Soup for the Soul", this is hard to get a print in their publications.
I just got two articles about the condition of our city in the paper and they did a guest column the third paper. The Cleveland Canine did a story on my dog and I.
Regarding the news; I just wrote an email. In the subject area I wrote" Please Help Me!". Start off with something profound that captures an eye, exbound on that. Build the text with interesting and detailed information and above all,PRAY!!!!!! God has much to do with all that I accomplish.
Two different papers did, infact, post my announcement regarding my Lyme group meets. I have had only one call from a 75 yr. old lady. Thus far this lady and I have talked one hour-two hours on the phone.
Ark, pray! I don't have to tell you, you know this and I know that about you. Now, get started. You already have a wonderful web site. Forward that to whomever you email. I usually send along my picture so they connect with my story better.
Your site is your biggest asset. Are you aware of that? GO GIRL!!!

Here's a thought....
There just could be a connection between GWS
as in Gulf War Syndrome.
The medical dictionary calls it an unknown disease but the lady researcher that used to own Bowen Labs in Florida found Bb in the soil.
Sand Fleas have a bad habit of transmitting nasty things whenever they bite....
and with all those camels....there's just got to be some ticks on them...
not to mention....doing maneuvers in the most tick infested woods in America(USA)prior to even
being deployed over in the sand dunes or mountains of "Whatever-Stan"!
Hey there Soldier guys and gals and fellow veterans that took part in any studies the US Army did back in the 90's whenever our vets got back from Desert Storm or Iraqi Freedom!
Soooooooooooo, How come the army ducks stopped the study they were doing with doxicycline as a way of reducing the symptoms of GWS?
Gee.....things seem somewhat peculiar....all of a sudden the vets getting back from(even south east asia)get HIV put into there medical records as reasons for all their symptoms.
I especially worry about the "Snipers" and their "Spotters" in as much as they roll around in the dirt and brush to hide and stay positioned for great lengths of time so as not to be detected.
More than ample time for becoming infected by any blood sucking arachnoids, lookin for a meal!
They think it could have been some of the vaccines that were pumped into the GI's but I know better.... I ran into a couple of Gulf War Vets and they told me horror stories(to me) about the "tick parties" they had each night of maneuvers while training for combat over seas!
They had to inspect each other....and I doubt seriously if the U S Army passed out any handy dandy tick removers to assist in removing the little critters....

Remember, folks, that a picture is worth a thousand words. I have given countless presentations throughout my career. I always took along a few little props. Maybe you could show photos before and after lyme disease. Maybe you could have a map to show the states affected, the counties in Ohio and in large type put the number of cases...actual and reported. Take a photo showing the sizes of ticks so that people understand how tiny they can be to cause lots of harm. Make a list of co-infections that can be held up for all to see. Show pictures of you doing what you used to do and you doing what you can do now. Show a large list of all the doctors you have seen! Be creative!
My doctors are thinking about putting on a symposium for doctors to educate them about diagnosis and treatment. The trouble is that we have to go against the CDC guidelines, and doctors are afraid to do that for fear of losing their licenses. We need to convince a hospital to sponsor it. All the lyme conferences are attended mostly by patients.
We need to organize a conference just to educate health care professionals. I think we could include the people who do the testing at Igenex Labs, the physical therapists who work with us, etc. If we did get such a thing organized I think the press would be all over it! I would like to collect before and after photos of every single lymie I can find!

I need your help/ideas etc.......
I have, thus far, a mega amount of two kinds of brochures and wallet size information on Lyme I ordered. On these brochures it shows how to remove tick and it shows pictures of ticks.
I also have xerox copies of the various listings of web sites they can go to to read up on the Lyme disease. I don't have a lot of money to copy all this, so doing it this way is better, besides many will take info and never even read it, if they're interested, they'll look this up.
Your ideas about what needs to be done are awesome! CDC sucks! Right now, I still have the my city working on this, I'll bet they changed their mind due to the panic it might present within our park systems! Sad, isn't it? Not warning people will eventually just kill'em.
My next project is to try and see if I can convince a doctor to allow me to talk at some education forum type meeting and share my experiences. Any ideas?
