me too - I always always seem to be the only one they bother. They swarm around me even when I am wearing bug spray. My family and friends? not a bite. grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Some people are mosquito and tick magnets. These are the people who get lyme disease.
This was explained by Dr. J. (pediatric lyme doc) in an interview once. He said he could get all the children well, "but, these children WILL get lyme again." He said it was because of their pheromones.
Some people produce pheromones that attract mosquitos and ticks. So, they will come after those people. I guess you could say that their smell attracts the bugs.
I am one such person. My entire life, I was bitten by mosquitoes when no one else was bothered.
So, nearly everyone who gets lyme has this problem. We are not like other people. We have to take extraordinary measures to avoid ticks for the rest of our lives. Otherwise, we WILL be bitten again.

My Lyme doc says the same thing. Some people just attract bugs.
I came back from my honeymoon in Belize (9 years ago) looking like a walking welt. Every sand flea and mosquito in the country found me. I also got some strange sea rash from seaweed. I went through Hydrocortisone cream like crazy.
Did my husband get ANY of this? NO!!

Funny but mosquitoes really don't attack me, rarely. They will be eating others alive. But I'm not crazy enough to sit around and let it happen. I won't stand or sit in grassy areas that others think is no big deal.
I tend to run for cover. But I mentioned just within the last 2 weeks on here that I think mosquitoes smell my bad blood and don't want me.
Now ticks, spiders, mites, fleas all them nasty SOBs run as fast as their little legs will carry them to get to me.
Way before lyme & co I could go in someones house and tell them in 20 minutes that they had fleas. If someone had a dog and one flea, the flea would jump off the dog and hop on me.
That is no joke.

I am the same.. have gotten eaten alive by mosquitoes so many times. I usually get many bites every summer...maybe that's how I caught this crap? Who knows.

Me too. I grew up in Houston ...tons of mosquitoes. Where I live now there are very few and I love that!!

One vacation I had so many bites my husband suggested I go stay at the leper colony, that I would blend in better there.
Mosquitoes chew me up, they leave my hubby alone.

I have 2 grandsons that must be fine blooded because they even look at a mosquito it's bites them.
But boys will be boys. Their Dad(DD ex) moved into house that the back yard looked like the forest. Trees are beautiful?
The backyard was mosquito compound. They ate my grandson up for 3 yrs. I wasn't happy at all. I bought them cans and cans of bug spray.
Why would you try to protect yourself against mosquitoes? Heck they've been around for thousands of years?
He's moved this spring. I pray that it's bug free territory.
