I have read that coconut water is good for us, is this right?

Can you all recommend an "unsweetened" no sugar added coconut water?

Zico? Naked Brand?

Thank you!

Be sure to get this in a GLASS bottle, not plastic.

Also avoid any "natural flavors" as they are often not at all natural and very much like MSG.

There was a recent thread with some good links. I'll see if I can find that.

The best one I've had is in a relatively small glass bottle.. I can't think of the name right now, but I've bought it at the local health food store.. It is pure coconut water, no sugar added. It is usually in the case where other cold drinks are stocked.

I love coconut water, but I've only had it once or twice, as I worry that the natural sugar is bad for candida.. (?)..

There may be other brands that use glass, and eco-friendly & fair-trade practices as Taste Nirvana does. for a start, though:

Taste Nirvana is one brand that uses glass bottles for coconut water. They also have some cans which are at least BPA-Free. But glass is still best.

I really like it to hydrate. But, the cost of purchasing a small container in the local stores is more than my budget allows.

I've purchased coconut water at my local GNC store (geared towards athletes). I get the unflavored kind. If I drink too much of it, I get tremors. Probably overloading on potassium or something.

If possible, it's best right from its very own container - the whole, real coconut.

Of course, that can take strength to crack but if you know someone in your life with a small hatchet (and NO axe to grind) they can take a swing at it.

You might be able to drill a hole in it first and break it apart with other sturdy tools.

I'd not let them go until they break up the coconut meat for you (and they could have a share, of course).

My mom used to use a hatchet to cut acorn squash. We just ran when we saw that come out from the top of the pantry !
