Hi all,

This is not really a full-fledged success-story, since I am still treating Lyme and Co. and still have symptoms, but I thought you may like to hear this good news:

I haven't been on for a while and here is my update:

I had my first day back to work in several months and I am doing great!

I am soooo happy. 5 months of antibiotics have turned my life around.

I am still taking 3 abx and A-BAB, which seems to be very powerful, and my Lyme/Bartonella/Babesia symptoms are getting milder all the time - yipeee!!! - the best thing is that I was very nervous returning to work

everyone wnats to hear that you are healed and all is well again - but I was not so sure about that, but had to play along to keep my job going

so the nice surprise was that - for the first time in years! - I came home from work several times now and still had energy left to do something fun - wow!!! (actually I did some yard work to get rid of shrubs around the house while the ticks are relatively dormant! and I was surprised that I could do that so easily - I used to collapse after work. period. end of story)

"Normal" things like that were gone out of my life and they are right: "you don't appreciate some things until you loose them"

well, I am so happy to report that there is a huge improvement for me as of right now and I am so excited about it and I have faith that I will keep improving, even if there are minor set-backs (bad days) every now and then

the trend is very slow but definitely positive

so for all you out there who feel (like me) that this can't be real and it is so scary and does not seem to get better at first - here is an example of a 5 months course of abx with great improvements, finally!

it took a while, and I went through (3-4 week long) phases of muscle twitching, heart pain, nerve pain and numbness, insomnia, memory problems, all that had it's peaks and is better now - still have the double vision, though, but hey, maybe it will take a few more months for that to pass

Keep me in your prayers, if you would please.

Best of luck to all!!!!

Harmony

Wonderful report, Harmony!!!! It is great news to hear that you are actually able to work! I know many will be inspired to hang in there. You are right....persistence is absolutely essential!

My last working day was in 1988 when I fell as I was getting dressed to go. I owned the company and had people depending on me. We tried to move it to our house, but I was just too sick. People lost their jobs, I lost my company and our family lost all of our savings and security.

I am working on my autobiography and other writing projects because I know how important it is for others to read about persistence, survival and success. We survivors are powerful people with powerful messages. That is what this country is all about!

So thanks, Harmony, for keeping us posted.

thank you both!

wow, farraday, since you talk about "us survivors" I take it that you recovered from that terrrible blow as well! Good for you!

I think you are right re-bounding is a great experience (even if the first blow is not!) and "It is what Tiggers do!" [lol]

Yes, Lymetoo, I think 'you got my number' he he - I am not too good about the not-overdoing-it part, I will consider myself reminded!

no fear, though, the Babesia raises it's ugly head when I work in the yard too long and I can't breathe very well and I get the dry cough real bad, so I have to stop

I have it now, since I just took my A-BAB drops - that is powerful stuff, that! causes symptoms (Herx?) right away after I take it, every time - I am hoping it helps, and it sure seems like it does [Smile]

"Overdoing it" has been my name all my life! And it still is! I am still recovering, will probably go on IV Rocephan soon. But my progress is astounding and all who know me are very impressed. So yes, I am definitely a survivor.

Now, about overdoing it. There are little signs that you need to sit or lie down. For example, when you get vertigo and fall over in the laundry room. [Smile] Today's little reminder. I have been told over and over to use a cane, but at home I don't usually bother.

But I am usually able to pick up the hints: glands swell and hurt, voice gets husky, eyes hurt, joints swell, balance goes bye bye, blood pressure gets too high or too low, etc.

Learning to listen to my body has been an enormous challenge for me. My tremendous will power has always ruled. That is now a detriment to my recovery in a way because overdoing it just slows you down in the long run.

Figure out how to do things, rest, get up and do something, rest, etc. I keep chairs placed in strategic areas to remind me to rest. And I keep sticky notes handy to remind me to get up and do things!
