WHAAZZZZUUUUPP??? Going to do anything special this week??

Posted by aklnwlf (Member # 5960) on :

TuTu-My hat is off to you for starting this week's thread.

After pigging out friday with the nephew actually changed things up a bit and got some exercise the next day.

Saturday-Me and the neph walked 1 3/4 mile around duck pond at a park and had a late picnic lunch.

Sunday-Only lasted 4 minutes on the stepper! It's gonna be quite the workout.

New grass guy came out and did a great job with his zero turn radius mower. Made short work of my property. What takes me 5 days to do with a push mower, he did in 2 hours. Even weeding!

Course costs me $125 but he's giving me a discount cause his s/o works with my s/o.

So gang, this week is starting out great!

i think im officially more here than there, i brought down 68 totes in the trailer today. and much more of my stuff is here than up north.

it may take a year to put it away or yard sale it...but i'm here

again...t-storms all around me but hardly ever over me

who's in florida...2-3 FOOT of rain??? that would be 9 foot of snow, right?

hope everyone stays safe.

That's GREAT, kayak!! Get some rest! [Smile]

Good to read your posts.

I had a set back. So, being able to get out in the Big Boy power chair is me moving my body at this time.

yesterday, I went into 2 circle k like stores looking for starbucks expresso and cream double shot..small can

For some reason I think it helps me but not sure

I have been having to take the generic excedrin twice daily and wanted to see if i could find something else to let up on the pressure in the head when it gets to that point of needing the pills.

unusual for me to be doing well enough to navigate into the stores and get the coffee drink.

1st store was out...had help gettign in and out of the doors to the store so that helped big time

2nd store was across the 4 lane highway in the heat

that was stressful but i stress easily. Concerned about Rosie's feet too as pavement was hot.

On the way back across allowed enough time to get across but cars were coming at me faster than I thought

Had the attitude that they just needed to slow down....they could see me crossing at least a couple of blocks before they got to me

Again had help getting into the convenience store and out. There also was a long line but a guy let me go before him which helped too

Wore my ear plugs as the 2nd circle k had the product and service is better but the sound of the door ringing as people go in and out is too much to handle.

Good news is the drink helped and i didnt have to take more generic excedrin

Very rare I am able to survive going to the circle k stores in town. It was iffy whether it would make health worse or better.

Glad it worked and I was OK.

OK wearing myself out just laying here typing this

I did go out in the big boy chair this am to toilet Rosie...across the street and around the funeral home

So, I figure it is OK to report about getting in the power chair and getting out the doors of the apartment to get Rosie and myself out of the apartment.

Looks like that will be my moving the body for a while.

At least I am moving my body adn able to do that.

Took Rosie otu to toilet in the Big Boy PC. Ended up heading down the streeet to the 2 local thrift shops.

The pain in my head was bugging me and I hoped it would help to take my mind off of it.

I had a bad attitude. Good I did not voice my thoughts.

It kind of helped but as soon as I got home the head stuff is too much.

I also tried to drop off some packing stuff on the free table as people are always moving in and out here.

That turned out to be too much...me, the power chair, rosie, the packing stuff, the doors I needed to get thru.

next time I will just put it in the trash.

Going to try ice packs for the brain next.

Tuesday-6 minutes on the stepper, break, 3 more minutes and that was all I could handle. I'm so out of shape.

Kayak-That's alot of totes! Got your workout in!

Kam-I love those Starbucks drinks! [lick] Those are definitely a special treat for me cause they're pricey. Glad they get you up and going.

See you all tomorrow!

Ugh, kam.. that sounds rough. I'm having a lot of trouble too. Can't believe I am in so much pain. Barely got any sleep last night even with pain pills.

Went to the Dr today and he thinks it's my back causing the pain in my feet. Also having numbness now.

So.. off to have an MRI in the morning. It will be WITH contrast... ugh.

We WERE planning on going to Texas on Thursday. Do not know how that will go .. or not go.

Hope everyone else is OK.

[group hug]

sounds like there is a lot of pain all over...

i really cant complain. i thought i wouldnt be able to get out of bedafter moving the totes twice yesterday. im slow today---but not awful

i was trying to find a craigslist ac for the tenents. then my friend came over to help with the computer...and she ended up rearranging my living room to make it look so much better, and SHE PUT MY SAUNA TOGETHER!!! AND IT WORKS!! and then as she was walking out the door she made a plan for my dining area

i waas exhausted when she left...and never dealt with the ac...but i am so happy my sauna is together...and my elliptical works -i think-one handle is wobbly...and i also found my scale. so i am trying to psyc myself up tonihgt i have to start real slow so i dont wreck myself...but i sure hope i start it tomorrow

ps-my friend started gse and feels like her eyeballs are having spasms...i think she described stabbing pain. i told her i thought it was a herx. it meant the gse was getting into her eyes where it is hard for the abx to get.

was i right?

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

Yea!! That's wonderful, kayak!! Woohooo!!! Nice to have a friend nearby!!

GSE.. could be as you say...??

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

tutu...i have been wondering how you were doing.

Ugh and hugs

I hoped you were getting some relief if you were off of your feet but now I know that's not true.

Kayak...good to hear your friend helped with getting things to feel like home.

But, brain went when I tried to continue to read..something about eyeball, gass in eyeball and herx?? Jumble li ah

ALW...still trying to find a way to have the drinks at home so they will be more affordable.

Tried getting an inexpensive expresso maker..mr. coffee had one...and make my own but that didn't work

I have yet to have a cup of coffee from that machine that is drinkable...not sure why...tried several different kinds of coffee..most of the time I am not doing well enough to have what it takes to make a cup of coffee

Ok brain is fading fast so need to sopnow. Good to read what I was abble of howw every one is doing.

Exercise is still in the upright kind of position and moving either in my car or in the power chair.

I went to take Rosie out to toilet. I was doing well enough I thought I would save some money by getting an ice coffee at one of the drive thru's.

it is rare I am doing well enough to drive thru.

1st place wasn't open yet. 2nd place was out of iced coffee?? 3rd place not open yet. 4th place not open yet. 5th place got a cup of iced coffee...small $3.00 ..so much for saving money.

it was drinkable but I don't think I would go back for more.

I was done in by then but still wanted to get Rosie out to stretch her legs so headed to the dirt road.

Thankful she doesn't need to stretch her legs as long as she use to. Short outing.

I am laying down now and brain is being weird. I was really off balance when I tried to walk into the apartment.

It was good to see homes with land around them. I just am not an apartment dweller. But, not sure where to move to or how to come up with the funds to rent a home or the help to move so until health improves I'll stay put.

Summers and winters are difficult here due to the sound of the air/heating units under my front room window and the fan that blows the heat/air in the apartment.

I also would like to have a place with my own washer and dryer. Several times I have washed my clothes in the community laundry room only to have them have either the foo foo smell of someone who used it before and used the dryer sheets

Or worse this awful smell like someone washed something with human poop on it.

I am planning on gooing back to using bleach in the washer again.

I did hear on TV or read that ecoli does not get killed in the washing machines and dryers...they do not get hot enough.

Good to be out this am. But, it wore me out. Getting a cup of coffee is not how i want to use what precious energy I have.

Hello from rainy Florida! Although many others around the state are battling flooding, I'm happy to report we are soggy but fine here.

I'm spending most of my time on the bed since I have to keep weight off my legs, but I am doing periodic foot flexing. The occasional crutching around is a major workout, so we'll count that as the upper body exercise.

My laptop allows me to spend this down time on a design project, so that's excellent. All in all, things are going fine.

Wishing you all well!

Over did it this am. Had short conversations with caregiver re: grocery list I gave her

And short conversation with neighbor re: needing a loan of an outboard charger until I can get one for my power chair

And a short conversation with another neighbor about her making me a mixed green salad and meatloaf

she will be back to pick up the stuff

But, my brain is swelling up..tiem for ice packs.

Wednesday-10 minutes on the stepper. Some gentle tricep/bicep/shoulder work with 5 lb. weights and bands. Some ab work on the ole workout bench.

My workout stuff is so dirty from pollen/dirt/dog hair. I'm gonna have to go out and clean the area this weekend. It's on my screened-in front porch in one corner.

I'm trying to get up earlier and get out there before it gets too hot.

TuTu-I hope they find out what's wrong with your feet. I chatted with the guy I bought my infrared unit from and he said there's some that are better. I'll let you know when I get all the particulars.

Kayak-So glad to hear that you have a friend that is willing to lend a much needed helping hand.

I just bought a used stair stepper last week and I'm starting out slow too. I've got a horribly messed up shoulder and am trying to figure out how to do some strengthening exercises without causing further damage.

You can do it! [Big Grin]

Kam-I can't make coffee worth a hoot either! I was single for so long that I used a one cup at a time maker for years and can't figure out how to make more than that. I drink instant. [shake]

Jimmy1-Hope you're doing better laying flat and all. It helped me tons when I was in your situation. I couldn't deal with crutches so I used a walker instead. Much more stable for me.
Hang in there!

Anyways gang, going to do a little shopping after work. See you all tomorrow!

[hi]

kam... I hope you are slowly getting better? When is the REAL EXCEDRIN coming out again??
I thought e.coli WAS killed by dryers? NOT?? UGH!! Guess we'd better not think about it!!

jimmy.. glad things are "OK" for the situation you are in. How long will you be down?

AK.. at least one of us on here is "exercising" [lol]

How hot is it there?

We're headed to Texas on Friday. Still in pain, but slightly better. Still have a lot of numbness and neuropathy. Will see a neurologist when we get back. Won't that be fun?

My MRI from today was not any worse than the one in October, so that is good news! No surgery! (I don't think.)

Have a great evening, everyone! [Smile]

wow-i read everything. ive been in my own little moving world here. didnt exercise yet but did bring the camper home...all by myself. no glitches except i had trouble getting the hitch on the ball and off the ball. like it was sticky. it was scarey until i realized what was going on.

anyone know if wd40 on the ball is the thing to do?

its kinda neat to look out and see my camper here. it was supposed to shower(i dont have hoses yet) so i gave the side that had faced the moldy house the once over with black streak remover-it came off easy and i sort of rinsed it from a bucket...but then it didnt rain. but it still looks a lot better and i will have a hose soon

KAM-i'm the opposite. i NEED my coffee in the morning. every morning. but going out is too hard til later. getting dressed is hard. stepping into the truck i s hard . door handles are hard.

so when i dont have a working coffee maker i routinely drive thru macdonals and get 2 large coffees for 2.18 the night b4. put them in the fridge and microwave them in the morning. i am spoiled by macdonalds coffee. i cant stand dunkin any more...or most otheres. sometimes green mountain is ok. even a day old and warmed up macs is better.

at home i take the time to experiment with each new coffee maker and then i write down water and coffee amount. i even leave the measure in the coffee container. i usually get maxwell but then get an expensive special one too and mix. sometimes just a few tablespoons on top of a 1/3 cup makes my coffee taste special. im so spoiled.

so today is the last trip north that has to do with moving. i plan to drive an hour out of my way to pick up a good used ac for the tenents.

hope to empty the storage and save 75. a month. and get hoses and long elec cords and all kinds of other little odds and ends.

SO AK we can be steppin buddies and sauna buddies right? hope i can start at 10 min when i get back. we'll see.

tutu-keep hopin your piggies get better

jimmi-im forgetting why your in bed...broken pelvis? hope you feel better soon too. and good you didnt get flooded. my sons inlaws and brother are there but ok. i saw fire ants piled on a floating leaf on the news. watch out!

ok-back to moving mode. this was fun. i miss you all.

Able to walk the few steps from my front door to the car and drive Rosie and I out to the forest 3 miles from home.

I let her out to stretch her legs while I drove.

it was good to be out.

Pressure is building in my head all ready. I am thinking of trying to figure out some way to tie an ice pack to the top of my head or put a hat on to hold ice under the hat.

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

Kayak...WD40 came to my mind too. But, guessing Just Don would know more.

Kayak..what kind of coffee and coffee pot do you use??

I think having coffee every morning would help me too. I just have trouble making the coffee and then wehn I do I don't like the taste of it.

I did try Mac D's to get coffee...but i was going for iced coffee and they said they were out??

I later thought I should have asked for a cup of joe and a cup of ice and made my own iced coffee.

There is a group of guys who drive classic cars in town. They try different places to meet for coffee in the morning.

I have noticed that have stopped trying and are now hanging out at MCD's.

Before I came down sick, I couldn't decide whetehr I wanted a truck or a convertible sports car for my next car.

Here it is 11 yrs later and I have finally decided. I want a truck. (Don't have the funds to get one but at least I know now...a truck would be good to transport my power chair too)

But, I was wondering about getting in and out of the truck...I know I have seen some people have some sort of slide out step to help them...but moving to slide out the step might take up more energy than it is worth.

I hope you continue to have fun. Fun is good.

Tutu...I checked the FB excedrin page and the last update was June 15. They still don't have a date when it will be back on the shelves. [Frown]

Good to hear you are heading to Texas.

I hear such good things about Texas but all I recall was that i didn't like it when I drove thru years ago. Flat.

So, guess I need to drive thru another part as I have read it has all good things in nature.

ALW...it will feel good to get your work out area cleaned up. Nice to have the screened area but hadn't considered the dirt factor. [Smile]

It is in the high 90's and hitting 100 the next 7 days here. It is not even cooling down at night like I like it. Ugh.

I thought it would be cooler in the mtns. I did hear it is cooler 20 miles from here in the forest but have yet to find an accurate web site that tells me how much cooler.

A neighbor said he never needed air conditionign when he lived there.

I'd like to try going camping in that area and see if this head pressure thing lets up. I need a tent and ice chest and someone to load and unload and set up camp.

Just a twinkle in my eye right now.

Jimmy...could you send some of that rain this way. I have been doing the monsoon rain dance but so far ...nothing...

I just checked for my cooling scarf and a hat that I use to soak to help me keep cool in the summer.

Can't find either. Hate it when that happens. This is such a small apartment.

I also did a search on Amazon for excedrin extra strength.

The box of the two packs that was not pulled from the shelves is now going for $165.00.

I purchased one of those boxes from Staples when I first learned I could not get excedrin for either $10 or $20 I think.

Staples it out of stock

If I had only know ....

Theres gold in them there excedrin

Kam... re:Texas.. you prob drove through the Panhandle, though many areas are flat. We have mountains (real ones), deserts, THICK forests (large area), huge canyons, beaches, hills (large area.. TX HIll Country), plains, you name it, we got it! We aim to please! [Smile]

As for the iced coffee. I got hooked on that once. I would go to the convenience store and make a coffee and put ice in it. Yep.. making your own is cheaper and probably less sugar since you are making it yourself.

We hope to leave tomorrow for TX.. it will be HOT! Oklahoma will be worse than TX.

kayak... hope you will be settled soon! You're almost there!

My feet are awful today. Had to stop the Lyrica again. Will try neurontin. (my back pain is better...whew!!) neck pain... not so great

Thursday-10 minutes on the stepper (wasn't easy) and upper body/ab workout with weights/bands and bench.

Still trying to go slow and easy. Worried about injurying my tweaked shoulder, neck and pec muscles.

TuTu-It's supposed to get in the 100's here by tomorrow. 102 and higher! I'm trying not to panic! [Eek!] Glad you're feeling a little better. Are you staying until the 4th? Hope you have a wonderful vacay!

Kayak-Can't help you there with the ball being sticky. Might want to ask at an auto parts store or Uhaul place.

I had to work up to those 10 minutes and it's killing me! [Big Grin] Wish I had a sauna, I'm so jealous. So do you have a portable one, or are you referring to the heat outside?

Kam-I love classic cars! They sure don't build em like they used to. BTW, I like trucks too. I'm stuck driving the family car now but that could always change. [Big Grin] So, there's gold in excedrin? That made me smile. Course me living under a rock here in Alabama, I didn't even realize they took it off the market. Why'd they do that anyways?

See you all tomorrow!

Tutu...you reminded me of NY. I don't like cities.

But, i did like upper state NY. Beautiful.

Hoping the ride will be comfortable for you...not sure how at this point.

MOving my body so far this am was slipping a dress I got for $10 on ebay (forgot to put my bra on so need to slip it back off and put bra on)....

Getting in Big boy power chair and taking Rosie out to do her business.

Exhausted now so resting then hoping to be able to do some more. Need to prioritise (sp?) as I know I will not able to do much.

I am thinking getting out of the apartment would be a good idea as I will be in in it the rest of the day...

Hot out. Still not cooling down enough here at night. But, it is quiet right now...no fan on for air conditioning.

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

rested, then drove to WM, got in elec cart (wished I had loaded my PC),

body in pain and too weak to hold itself upright..elec cart crawled from one end to the other of the store,

finally figured out which pot was leaking and got a new plastic dish to put under big pot at WM for $2.00.

But, carpet in hallway of apartments is still messed up. Hoping I don't have to replace the carpet where it messed things up.

Hoping it just needs shampooing. It is not ..can't think of the word now...meldue (sp?)

mold...it is white stuff..perhaps from the mircle grow feed I put int he pots??

I wanted to get a couple of large clay pots and transplant the cacti but maybe next month.

picked up a few groceries, drove thru local car dealer in town to get ideas, smell coming from salesperson was too much foo foo,

it also hurt to take in what she was saying so excused myself...I never got out of car,

smells from a truck in front of me at a stop light and from a guy using dirt blower were too much too...but good to be out..forest next time...less tasking on the senses.

I find my mind can't multi think since lyme and company.

And I live in the moment and forget why I no longer wear dresses, etc.

I did recall that skirts get caught in the wheels so I need to not wear skirts.

And long dresses blow over your head while in a power chair...even if you tuck them under your legs..i suppose skirts will do the same.

This short sleeve dress I got for $10 on ebay is very soft and sleeveless and cool.

It comes to the knees so I thought i would be OK i the power chair with it.

I forgot I don't have the strength to hold my knees together..so am trying to adapt by putting one leg forward and leaning the other knee against my leg..which doesn't work well as I am just to weak.

There was another obstacle but I can't recall what it is now.

I am fine in the house. It does keep me cool.

I had also hoped to get some more ice packs to cool my brain but teflon brain thought of it when I first went in the door of WM and then again while heading towards the area...

but got side tracked with trying to find a rubber nob to put on the end of my power chair as I am scratching the wall with the mental

Making a list and looking at it while shopping is still out..I still need to wing it.

Friday-10 minutes on the stepper and upper body/ab workout with weights/bands and bench.

Oh, also I've been tooling around the backyard with Rocky.

Might try and go swimming this weekend. It's so hot here and want to do something to stay cool.

Haven't worn a bathing suit in public for a long time. Got a one piece that'll do just need some kinda coverup on the bottom.

Kam-What're you gonna do to beat the heat where you're at? Even just tooling around the yard with Rocky is hard in this heat. Stay cool!

See you all later!

[hi]

ALW...hope you get to cool off in the water.

I was able to put in a load of laundry. I need to get up in a few minutes and go down the hall in my power chair to the laundry room and put the laundry in the dryer.

Able to take trash out to dumpster via PC. I was at the point where that wasn't a big thing but now it is an accomplishment again.

Able to put a few glasses into the Dw...hoping to get some more in as I am out of clean glasses.

Good question Kayak. I was wondering the same.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

1. Hurray. Up at sunrise but must admit a bit off or still not awake yet.

Took Rosie out to toilet, resting, probiotics, expresso, able to take Rosie out to run while I drove, able to clean up in the kitchen a bit more adn start DW,

able to take out trash (brain hurting now so resting with ice pack). I so want to be able to do more.

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

Kayak...good question. I wonder how everyone is doing with the storms.

I hope you are able to get some much needed sleep.

I wrote more earlier but I don't see it posted now.

I just folded some clean sheets and put them away. I also got the kitchen cleaned up and was able to start the DW.

Able to do more today than norm. But, need to get brain back on ice packs. Guess I need to get up and go get it.
