good artical. ive known a lot of this for a long time. when first put on prevacid the gi doc assured me there could be no problem. when i questioned what stomach acid is supposed to do when working right he acted like i was crazy. like it could only be bad. how could he have gotten thru gi doc school??? or maybe the payback from drug company was more impt

anyway...even tho i hate taking them i cant seem to get off. and it is true that i seem to be getting worse. i was able to get off when i stoppped ibuprofen...but 3 days without it and i cant walk so so far i am still on .

my biggest concern is i suspect they make it easy for parasites cuz i think their original use was to prevent parasites etc

i have found-surprisingly-that when i have an attack---breakthru or if i run out of meds....6 whole almonds or 1/2 and apple eaten slowly and chewed well will often stop the sx

there are threads on here where this has been discussed in detail. there are some "cures" on the internet....and they worked for me if i stop the ibu...but i cant. yet. ive cut it in half.

again...really good article---hope others pay attention. if you can do not take these drugs...they just add problems

and good news about them not causeing cancer...that was the scare tactic the doc used with me and it worked.

but a little ridiculous to tell ppl to lose weight so you dont need the drug when the drug is known to cause weight gain

Wow, definitely food for thought. I have been suffering immensely on and off for years now with gastritis. I've recently done 2 Prevpac's and still have symptoms.

I do get some relief from them though and am starting to think it's the Prevacid in the Prevpac that is helping my symptoms and not necessarily the abx.

One of the reasons I think this is that in the past, before I found out I had H. Pylori, I've gotten relief just from Omeprazole without abx.

As far as what that article says about people using PPI's to continue to enjoy their bad habits I have to admit I'm guilty. If I don't take a PPI I can't tolerate coffee but if I take one I can have coffee.

I am addicted to coffee but I really need to stop. To take that one step further I suspect I am Celiac and I've been reading lately that there may be cross-reactivity between gluten and coffee so if I'm gluten free but still drinking coffee it can be effecting me the same way.

Bottom line is I need to get on the ball with my diet and quit coffee. Thanks for the article!

What saved my stomach from ever having to take a PPI again:

DGL, Slippery Elm powder, Marshmallow Root.

Seven Forests Coptis & Evodia.

Thanks Keebler!

Is there a good all in one product?

How about GI Revive by Designs for Health?
