I've asked for prayer regarding the triplets..

Especially the oldest by a minute,,, the one who had a couple seizures...

I just got a call from her MOM ,my only child, that Sofia is in a hospital....mind you we are talking REP. of Georgia.....diabetes is what they are saying.

I know very little about this ,,,

This is where I have been trying to say/ask to watch the kids a little different per each child..

I knew /have known that she needed extra stops during the day, she needed real food not a lot of bread, porridge, candy etc.

That the Nanny and other Grandma , didn't make them eat real food before sweats.. often..

I feel that this could have been prevented or postponed had they just listened to my two cents.

The littlest one needs to drink more water . circles under eyes and tired alot..

They just didn't want to hear a thing , from me about them..I could barely say a word, just once in a blue moon would my daughter listen .... Husband never,,,I alway's have the "what in case" feature built in...

Basic , common sense thing's,, well now she's sick..

Lyme has me stuck here.. I used to be able to either have been there or could go now if need/want.....I hate this illness.

I hate that I can't be with the girls and now their Dad ,probably wouldn't let me unless I was better..........much more than a bit ..

Diabetic, Sofia needs prayer , I need prayer, and their parents need prayer and then some.

God do I ever feel left out/ usless.

The kids were even told not to tell me if I called tonight....at least my daughter had the sense to call me....

What happens now??
can it be a spike and not permanent?//

I know people get these thing's it's just so hard with feeling so crappy....not knowing when I'll be better and having one of my baby girl's not well and I can't do anything....

[Frown] [Frown] [Frown]
I just can't stop crying and I have to so I can talk to someone there..
We do happen to have one of the best Diabetes Centers here in Denver.....

You cannot prevent juvenile diabetes. It's not about sweets. They don't yet know what causes it, but I've heard interesting theories.

you might want to read some of the info on the internet

I'm very sorry to hear this and I sure hope they can get the proper care in Georgia...but I would doubt it myself.

Their parents will have to stay on top the illness 24/7.

I will pray for all.

[group hug]

PS.. Keep quiet to some extent about their coming to Denver for care... maybe they will do that on their own.

Hi,
Lymetoo is right, eating alot of sweets/carbs/bread does not bring on Juvenile Diabetes. As a matter of fact Sophia might of been craving them, because her pancreas is either making a small amount of insulin/defective insulin or no insulin at all.

So when Sophia eats carbs/sweets her body can not break glucose down( no insulin to convert it to energy) so it stays in her blood and sets off the body's menchanism to increase urination-to help dump the excess glucose, and in turn increase thirst etc.

And there are alot of theories, it is felt the gene is already there and a virus, like a cold or infection turns it on to full blown diabetes.

Try to keep in mind that with good management, Sophia can have a pretty normal life. Because she is young it may be easier for her to adapt, then say an adult with diabetes who are more set in their ways and sometimes struggle.

As Lymetoo said research and learn from reputable sites. She needs a pediatric endocrinologist who specializes in diabetes.

nonna, if it really is diabetes, it is permanent. Here is a good website that summarizes it:

http://www.jdrf.org/index.cfm?page_id=102585

It would be wonderful if this causes them to come to the states, perhaps permanently.

Her numbers are back down...but they want to keep her in hospital a few more days..

She's being so brave. I got to see her on skype a few minutes..

You don't even want to hear how different hospital and what they don't do , compared to here,

Good thing they have a buck or two....
