I have a upper respiratory flu bug and am on my third day. I'm additionally on a new abx incl in my pulse therapy and feeling very miserable. As if the flu doesn't make you feel bad enough, getting it with Lyme is awful. My chest hurts now along with everything else, can't stop hacking and it makes it worse. Just to type hurts my hands, to walk hurts allover. I do feel like my lyme symptoms are very much intensified. Is one with Lyme more at risk of pneumonia or other issues? how would one know? We have so many different aches and pains that you learn to try to ignore most new weird symptoms, I guess some more serious things could easily go overlooked (chest pains, hunger for air, sharp pains etc).

Best to get an appointment with your doctor, make sure you don't have bronchitis or pneumonia. Hope you feel better soon!

Elderberry extract will fight viruses.
Influenza and colds are caused by viruses.

You can look at iHerb.com to see different brands and reviews for them.
You should be able to find elderberry extract at the drugstore, or even the grocery store, in the medical section.

Research on elderberry extract showed that people with influenza got better more quickly when taking it.

Symptoms of influenza include:
Very high fever
Severe headache
Severe body aches
Dry cough.

Influenza is a respiratory illness.
I went through this one March, and it was amazingly awful.
I can see why people who are old and debilitated may die from it.

My fever went over 104 degrees.
The headaches were worse than my usual migraines.
The body aches were so bad that there were times I could NOT get up out of bed.

I had a dry cough...did not cough up mucous.
This got worse and worse, I could not control it.

I was too ill to try to go to the doctor's.
I found that when I took tylenol, the fever came down for a while and the body aches improved.
The only thing that seemed to help the severe one sided headache was an ice pack on my forehead, and that just numbed it a little.

About all I could eat was Saltine crackers and ginger ale.
For years after that, I made sure to keep some in the house at all times, in case I got sick again.

When you're that sick, there is NO WAY you can drive to the store to buy what you need.

When I found out about using a salt inhaler, I bought one to have on hand in case I got bronchitis or influenza.

When you breathe in air that passes over dry salt crystals, you breathe the ions (atoms) of salt into the lungs, where they kill bacteria and viruses.
This also reduces inflammation.

It's good for asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia.
There are vendors at Amazon.com, look for salt pipe.

Baboosh.. very sorry to hear this!!!! Take good care of yourself! Go to the Dr if you think it is necessary and you are able.

Carol.. I really need to get one of those salt pipes. I started to buy one several years ago when I was using a steroid inhaler. But the good news is that I got off the inhaler and have not needed it since.

baboosh44,
It's been a week...how are you feeling?

Hi there, thank you for your comments and thoughts. I'm feeling better except I can't get rid of the mucous in my chest, taking mucinex and drinking lots of water. I might try that salt pipe thing, sounds interesting. Everytime I cough or sneeze, I look bladder control and I've been real hot and joint achey (due to new abx) and new abx causes chronic constipation and now fighting an obstruction. Isn't that lovely? but doing better, lol ;-)
