dont get me wrong. i dont want surgery. im happy to know if i move wrong i wont paralyze myself-ive been worried about that for 4 months now

doc says one on one PT in the pool is the answer. it will get me stronger...but when they measure my strength it is already strong. except intermittently when one or another limb doesnt work.

i dont know. i will do what they say but i dont think they are identifying the real problem.

im beginning to think it is all "just lyme" eating my rotator cuffs and discs and facet cartilage.

and/or - i still need to understand this better: the lyme / mitochondrial relationship

for the first time i heard a LL doc mention them as being related so i need to read up on that.

what i know is IF i take mito supp protocols...THEN i can walk. if i dont i cant. but i can walk...but the pain is still there and i cant do much but walk for short periods

we'll see

anyone else going thru back/limb problems?

Gee.. I finally found this thread!! Took me days!

I do hope you are able to get a second opinion. I don't think the first Dr knows what he is talking about.

I'd like to see how using pulsed magnetic therapy would affect your pain.

I think it would relieve the pain and possibly improve the ability of the nerves to function.

Read the book A Headache in the Pelvis. I have pelvic floor dysfunction. My Urologist diagnosed me with this.

I now go to a Physical Therapist. She agrees that I have pinched nerves that are causing pain and severe constipation.

I just started therapy, but constipation is much better after two sessions.

Hopeful it will cure the pelvic pain and keep the bowels moving.

The Magnetic Pulser by SOTA offers the benefits of a pulsed magnetic field to help balance the body's natural electricity for health and well-being.
The Magnetic Pulser can be used anywhere on the body.
This unit has a built-in timer for 20-minute sessions.
http://www.sota.com/magnetic-pulser.html

You can google for a coupon code for a 10% discount good on your first SOTA order.
It's been several years since I bought mine, and I don't know how much shipping is now.
You can find "how to" videos on YouTube.com.

Someone else at LymeNet found a less expensive alternative to the SOTA model.
http://discountzappers.com/MagneticPulser.html

The guy that makes these provides a link to his YouTube videos.
He also sells them at Amazon.com and there are some reviews there.

p.s. Amazon has some reviews for the SOTA Magnetic Pulser, too.

i started PT ordered by the doc i remember saying: "there is nothing wrong with your back"

i guess what he meant was-notheing wrong surgery can fix

today the PT-who was great in many ways-said doc wrote he thinks my leg pain and other problems are coming from severe facet arthritis in lumbar reagion

she told me all i was saying was classic for this problem

so im hearing this after the 2nd opinion doc did an xray and said he thought my knee WAS loose(its a replacement) and that was causing problems-and there was inflammation that made a "pre" stress fracture condition

this doc-was a PA and wants me to go back to knee doc who did my knees because there was a problem with the bonescan in jan and the doc didnt really see it....

i know ducks are bad when it comes to lyme but these regular docs are so pressured to see the patient for 7-12 min to determine if surgery is an option...cuz thats how the everyone makes money i guess...my docs are really good at cutting...but if this doc had insisted on getting the correct bonescan results in jan i would not be going thru all this for months

so im pretty frustrated and actually angry. i have not yet succeeded in getting the hosp that did the bone scan to get the results to the doc...but i am beginning PT for the back...and the PT encouraged me to use the wc as much as i had to if it kept me more active...and it does. with the chair i can cook, clean, garden etc without i can barely stand more than 1-2 min

i dont know if this would have been different if i didnt have lyme...i dont knwo if lyme caused this

i am just so tired of pain and not being able to take care of myself

So, what about the leg problems?? Coming from your spine? The facets are right next to the spine, right?

I'm a little confused.

I thought he was delusional or something when he told you nothing was wrong with your back.

I have ankloysing spondylitis in my spine. Bulges in neck and lower back is a mess too. I feel for you cause I know it hurts. I am trying to walk ever day but I can barely make it back to car.

the report said 2 or 3 bulges, spondy...but not the anky???, also a lot degeneration, one "dessicated"

and severe facet arthritis for 6 yrs...the facet is part of verebrae and it has a hole in it that nerve goes thru and that hole is getting smaller and pinching nerve...

but apparently they cant actually see this-the pinching...but all my sx point to this

when the pt tested my knee with the rubber hammer...the left leg almost kicked her in the head but the right leg didnt move at all...and she said that meant there probably was an issue with nerve getting pinched in facet

anyway-medical system is such a mess...but after 4-5 months of fooling around 2 docs agree i need water PT

it will cost me 40. a week. that will add up. i'm thinking i might have to stop paying mt house mortgage to do it...but i know i need to do it.

i was going to walk for exercise but i would have to push wheelchair cuz i never know when my leg just will not hold any weight

but 2nd doc said hold off on that cuz i might make a stress fracture happen

From what I read, pulsed magnetic therapy will reduce inflammation and help the bone to get stronger.
People with knee replacements have had good results with the prosthesis firming up in the bone.
