From psalm 34. Can't remember the verse.

"They who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing."

There is much that seems lacking in my life. God has the remedy. Seek Him and you shall not want.

As the Nike commercial says, "Just do it."

Let us exhort one another to seek the Lord.

On a funnier note, I was talking to my husband about the need to name things or give things a label. I was telling him about how God gave Adam dominion over the earth and the first thing that Adam did was name/label the animals. I was saying if I just really knew what was wrong with me by some positive test, (All my labs and blood work etc. is perfectly normal) then I could take dominion over whatever it is that I have.

My husband replied, "Then just name it. Adam didn't know what he the animals were before he called them something. Just label it and then take dominion over it."

A little while later he said, "I know what you can call it. Call it the FLS syndrome for feel like sh**." (I hope I didn't offend anyone)

So now I have a name for what is wrong and I will take authority over it.

LOL. My husband has an odd sense of humor.

Sermon at church today was how we should not worry. God has us covered!

Worry is like a rocking chair. You can rock all you want and you will get nowhere.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to stop by and say "Hi!". I have an appt to see my LLMD tomorrow. If you will, please pray for me as I am very nervous.

So much has been going on with my family. It is taking a toll on my personal health, I'm trying not to let it but it is.

So if you will, please pray for me, my doctor, and this appt tomorrow, that God would bless us guide the doc and that it would go well.

Will you pray also for travel mercies as we will be on the road literally all day tues to get home. It will be a long day, ask that God would bless us there too.

I've been thinking of you all and will be praying for you too.

Soccermama, thanks for sharing the psalm. I understand the feeling...

Hiker, thanks for sharing about your sermon. I worry to much when I know I should give it all to God. I've been struggling with this more lately during this difficult time.

Thanks so much friends!!!

I was blessed to be able to go to my High School class reunion last night.

It was so fun to see friends that I have not seen for many years.

God has a way of putting people there who could use some help. He sent 2 people who I spoke to about Lyme disease.

He also sent one class member whose Dad was my awesome 6th grade teacher....best teacher ever!

She said her Dad died 3 yrs ago. It was very sad..she said he found out he had cancer and 2 months later he was gone. He was having a test done, and he died unexpectedly during the test.

She said her Mom is not doing well at all. She is still in the anger stage of her grief because they never had a chance to say goodbye to him, talk, etc.

Well, I know that God lets some people experience what Heaven is like through near-death experiences and then he sends them back to earth to share God's love with others. I am so thankful for those who share what they have experienced. It can really help so many people.

I have been reading many books about experiences like this and they are very inspiring and comforting. One book in particular helped comfort my cousin after her Mom died in a car accident a couple yrs ago.

I shared that info with my classmate, and she said her Mom would be open to reading that book, so she would get it for her.

I pray that this classmate's Mom will find comfort in that story, and will find strength to go on knowing that she will see her husband again in Heaven.

God always has a plan...

Love to you all!! [kiss]

Love that scripture, payne!

Thanks for posting it. It inspires me.

In my attempt to seek the Lord, I have decided to memorize scripture. There is this cool website called scripturetyper. http://scripturetyper.com

I was thinking if others on this site were interested we could memorize together. I could set up a group on the site and everyone could join.

Then we can encourage each other by seeing each others progress. I thought I would start with Psalm 31 and set a goal to learn two verses a week.

I am not sold on that psalm so if someone wanted to join but wanted to start in another place that is fine.

I just want to have some accountability and friends along the way. I think it could be good because when my mind starts to get overloaded, it could be a good place to go and occupy it.

I'll try it, soccermama!

If my brain can't keep up, I'll just let you know....lol.

Do I just go there and create a sign-in password?

Posted by soccermama (Member # 35101) on :

Okay, I set up a group on scripturetyper. All you have to do is go to the site and create a sign-in password. Then, go to join a group and sign up on Godthought.

I think you will have to import the verses which is Psalm 31:1-2. Then, you will set up how you want to memorize it. For instance, do you want to memorize with punctuation or not. etc.

Next, you will follow the steps to eventually master the verses.

It sounds complicated but if my computer challenged self can do it, anyone can.

This is the url. I hope it works. I am excited.

soccermama,

I signed up, but can't seem to find our group, Godthought.

I see the big red list of groups...am I missing it in that list?

Posted by soccermama (Member # 35101) on :

I am having some trouble getting the group to be officially there.

I am not sure what to do. When I was working on it, I got too sick to continue. I will endeavor to work on it today.

You can still work on the verses until I manage to figure out the problem.

[hi]

Pastor Jeremiah Steepek (pictured below) transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor at that morning. He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service....only 3 people out of the 7-10,000 people said hello to him. He asked people for change to buy food....NO ONE in the church gave him change. He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the ushers if he would please sit n the back. He greeted people to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him.

As he sat in the back of the church, he listened to the church announcements and such. When all that was done, the elders went up and were excited to introduce the new pastor of the church to the congregation........"We would like to introduce to you Pastor Jeremiah Steepek"....The congregation looked around clapping with joy and anticipation.....The homeless man sitting in the back stood up.....and started walking down the aisle.....the clapping stopped with ALL eyes on him....he walked up the altar and took the microphone from the elders (who were in on this) and paused for a moment....then he recited

``Then the King will say to those on his right, `Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' ``Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
``The King will reply, `Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

After he recited this, he looked towards the congregation and told them all what he had experienced that morning...many began to cry and many heads were bowed in shame.... he then said....Today I see a gathering of people......not a church of Jesus Christ. The world has enough people, but not enough disciples...when will YOU decide to become disciples? He then dismissed service until next week.......Being a Christian is more than something you claim. I'ts something you live by and share with others. [group hug]

Love, love, love that real story payne!

A good lesson for everyone to think about.

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

They say the pic is not real, but the STORY is .. and that is the most important thing! A reminder to us all.

I'd like to memorize scripture too. I took a Bible study on Experiencing God many years ago and thought I was too old then (and ill) to memorize the verses, but I did better than I thought I would.

Need to do it again!

Could we start with shorter verses, please? My brain is old and worn! [Big Grin]

Posted by Dekrator48 (Member # 18239) on :

I haven't started memorizing yet because I've just been busy with lots of things.

On another note...God is working in my family and I am grateful.

Please pray that He will continue to work in each person's heart, to heal, to forgive, to love always.

Hey Guys! I have been trying to figure out how to make a group for scripturetyper. I can form the group but can't figure out how to import verses for the group. Sigh...so computer challenged.

Anyway, whoever wants to can go on and sign up. We can share our progress on here.

Tutu, memorize at whatever speed you want. I am working on the first two. I just thought that working together would be an encouragement and some accountability.

If you want, we could start with one verse a week?

Payne, awesome story. I wonder how often Jesus is in our midst but unrecognized?

payne.. there's a site where you can check pics. They say it's not a pic of the pastor. But like I said, it doesn't matter.

ok.. soccermama.. it's just daunting! [Smile]

Psalm 31[a]
For the director of music. A psalm of David.

1 In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
deliver me in your righteousness.

2 Turn your ear to me,
come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to save me.

3 Since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead and guide me.

4 Keep me free from the trap that is set for me,
for you are my refuge.

5 Into your hands I commit my spirit;
deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.

[hi]

I've been reading and loving your posts. Praying for all.

Going by memory here so don't expect a whole lot. [Big Grin]

What sticks out the most was Payne's post about the pastor transformed into a homeless man. That instantly brought this song to mind.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fC-MyglVbCc

It makes me sad that we judge others. I shared Payne's post for discussion last night. We are givers yet there are times when we are skeptical.

How does one know if a person is truly in need or scamming? I'll stop there.

soccermama, This is the best I can do right now.

Jesus wept. John:11.35

It's the shortest verse in the Bible yet tells us a lot about Jesus. He knew He was going to raise Lazarus from death.

He wept as He felt the suffering of the others who were mourning. He is such a gracious and merciful God.

He is Love. [bow] [group hug]

A little humor.

Moses was walking down a street when he bumped into George W. Bush. "Hello," said Bush. "Nice weather we're having, huh?"

Moses took one look at the President, turned, and ran in the other direction. The next day Moses was walking down the same street and there was Bush.

Again he tried to initiate a conversation. Again Moses turned and ran away. Bush was tired of this bizarre treatment, so the next time Moses ran away from him, Bush followed.

When he caught up, he asked Moses what was wrong. Moses said, "The last time I talked to a bush I spent 40 years in the desert." ~ Don Nguyen

A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones.
Proverbs 17:22

Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
Psalm 119:11

From Turning Point

Ernest Sellers, superintendent of public works in Lansing, Michigan, was converted to Christ at a YMCA rally and became a beloved hymnist.

In 1908, he published his simple little song based on Psalm 119:11, "Thy Word Have I Hid in My Heart."

He wanted us to remember that as we memorize and meditate on God's Word, it becomes implanted in our brains and transforms us from the inside out.
