I wasn't sure how to do this but, google the Pituitary Network Association website and do a search for

Endocrine Test Categories. They have a very extensive list of endocrine tests to ask for from your doctor. I wasn't sure how to link this to a

post in general support. The PNA is good site to look for info if you are having thyroid/adrenal issues or you are not sure what the problem may be.

Always good to learn more about how the body works (or is supposed to, eh?).

Of key importance, for those with lyme, is that their LL doctor guide any testing / assessment. Not everything is lyme, of course. However, lyme so very drastically can change the endocrine system and most doctors (even endocrine experts) are not usually aware of just how.

I know someone with CFS (likely with lyme) who became bedridden for a full year - feeling constant high anxiety - after an endocrine challenge test. Nothing tried could fix it. A dark, quiet room for a full year was required.

Before getting to know her and learning of this, I had also been severely damaged by one, not the same one but still . . . . The endocrinologist had no clue why I had a terrible reaction and didn't even believe me. I did not know then that I had lyme but, in retrospect so much makes sense now.

It took me six months of aggressive rest, the best support possible and still, the high anxiety during that time from the test damage created the worst time of my life. Each day was filled with suicide inclination from the steroid / endocrine damage. And all I could do was wait it out. No doctor could - or would help. And none would believe me about how terrible I was feeling.

Steroids were part of the challenge test. (A terrible thing for anyone with lyme).

And, they are also often unaware of how certain challenge tests can be damaging to someone with lyme - or the cautions of treatment if not cleared with the LL doctor.

ANY kind of stimulation challenge test or treatment (even if not a steroid) could cause great and long lasting harm to someone with the kind of endocrine dysfunction that goes with lyme / TBD if not very carefully designed.

How certain tests are done may need to be approached, and interpreted differently, too.

Lyme is known to clobber the HPA axis, thyroid, and so much about endocrine function. Best to be guided by a LLMD or LL ND who can refer if needed to a particular specialist whom they trust.

And, often, endocrine matters can be addressed by the LL doctor &/ or resolve with addressing the underlying cause if lyme related. And with key support, too, of course.

Regarding endocrine dysfunction and lyme, see various links here, especially: Heal the Hormones, by Connie S, in this set:
