Just got my decision after two years, FAVORABLE
Been sick for the last 6 years

THey actually stated in the decision making process that because I have lyme disease it had adversely affected my neurological condition

I did see many doctors and had a brain spect scan "which showed consistent with effects of lyme disease"

Don't know if I just got lucky with a knowledgable judge but maybe something is turning

We can only hope

I've written notes to the SSA asking them to get involved and help bring about access to diagnosis and treatment for tick-borne infections.

Preventing prolonged illness and debility would be the preferred way to go.

I doubt they would do that, yet maybe someone, somewhere in their offices, saw my note, eh?

Yay! That's great! Let's hope the word is getting out!

Keebler, we can hope they saw your note. I feel that the more we talk about it and help open dialogue, the more chance the world has at finally seeing TBI as a legitimate and very disabling disease.

I am trying to plant the seeds of tick borne illnesses amongst my coworkers. I put pictures of ticks up on the bulletin boards with instructions on how to remove ticks and what kind of insect repellant to wear.

So far my company sent out a bulletin on being tick aware and that the lower mainland is ideal for the lyme bacteria. Unfortunately, they used the data from the BC CDC...BUT it is a step in the right direction.

We have to keep trying and fighting for what's right.

I am SO glad your disability was finally approved! Good for you for persevering! [Smile]

Congratulations! I know how hard it is to get approved. I have to point out that in the US SSDI is probably double what we get in Canada. So.. good for you!!

So happy for you! Just getting thru the paperwork requires a PhD.

Congrats!
