Argh.

First headcold of the season.

Sinuses. Headache. Sore Throat. Dry Cough.

First week of IV Rocephin.

Took too much vitamin C for the cold. Got the gurgly stomach from all the vitamin C.

Not sure if the chills fever and bone aches are from the cold or a herx from the Rocephin.

Anyways, I am supposed to work tomorrow, but I feel like garbage. Have been in my housecoat for 36 hours.

I hate phoning in sick-I feel guilty enough for having missed work so much because of lyme.

To phone in for a headcold. Argh. My bosses are probably up to here with my illnesses.

What should I do?

Ugh, sorry Greta! That sounds really miserable. I understand that your work situation is difficult because you're sick. But especially as you're on IV Rocephin I'd be concerned about making yourself sicker by going to work when you feel so bad.

If you get worse you'll have to take more time off. To me it makes sense to call in sick and get better. This is not your fault.

Take care of yourself and feel better!

Thanks Anthro,

I just feel so guilty for not pulling my weight lately at work.

But you're right.

Maybe one day phoning in sick will save a week of lackluster performance.

Argh.

I hate this. Another side effect of lyme and co.

Feeling guilty.

Here's another way of looking at it. If I were an employer, I'd be less than thrilled with people coming to work with active infections. That's probably how you got it in the first place. Redistribute the guilt!

I know you're concerned, though. Is there any light work you could do for your employers or co-workers from home?

I wish! It is the type on hands on job where one very much needs to be there.

That's true-I'm sure no one wants my germs.

But the guilt is incredible, and the fear of being dismissed is suffocating!

I hate these infections. [Frown]

Healthy people phone in sick when they aren't sick all the time....

But I phone in sick when I'm sick all the time...

I sure hope my bosses can tell the difference.

Hi Greta,

I too work full time. I haven't had too many times too call in sick, but seems like when I do, it is for a week at a time.

I filed FMLA on my illness. Anytime I have to miss because of Lyme, it goes onto my FMLA and I am covered. It also protects my job, maybe not the current position, but my job in general.

I phoned in sick for today and tomorrow.

I honestly feel worse today than yesterday. Really lousy.

I've been battling this cold for 7 days now...its moved into my voice box and lungs.

Anyways, if you guys could please say a prayer for me tonight, I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, Greta. It's a good thing you didn't go in today. Does your LLMD think it's a good idea for you to continue with the IV Rocephin given that you have a separate infection?

Carolann's suggestion sounds important. Does Canada have an equivalent of the FMLA?

I sometimes light a candle to Kwan Yin, the Buddhist goddess of compassion--and will do so for you tonight. Healing wishes and hugs.

The candle's lit, Greta. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Oh dear Greta,

This cold sounds awful.

I really hope you can get a good night's rest and that you feel better real soon.

Thanks Anthro and Judie,

I've been drenching sweats, dry fever, hot sweaty fever, shivering chills, alternating all day.

Not sure if this is the cold or the herx, but am on my third pair of pajamas today.

Just in the last hour, my leg pain in back. Feels like sore bones from the hips down. Argh.

Thanks for listening and for thinking of me.

It really is a rough night so far. [Frown]

Thanks again.
