- The SSA (Social Security Administration) does not do that sort of thing. However . . .
Call your COUNTY Senior & Disabled Services offices to see if you qualify. Requirements can vary state to state, even county to county.
In my state / county, it is required to receive any in home help that a person
1. not be able to raise a food utensil to their mouth - and
2. unable to "toilet" alone - and
3. be within a certain income bracket (not necessarily but likely along the lines of income for qualifying for medicaid in your state / &/or the food supplement program).
All three requirements must be met - for MY county -- not necessarily for all, in all states, though. [Which I find especially unreasonable and putting lots of people at risk. But there is just no money in the program to help all who need it.]
You may be able to find the detail with a cross search on line and then call tomorrow to talk to a real person.
If you don't meet those criteria, you can ask about any volunteer programs they may know about -- and
Call your local UNITED WAY information line to see if they can connect you to any agencies / organizations that could offer you the kinds of assistances that would help.
Good luck. -
