I'm so frustrated. I can talk sciency stuff, read medical articles, etc., up to wazoo. But when it comes to executive function - making decisions in everyday living, or actually doing concrete, daily tasks - my brain shuts down and I can't function.

So if someone is asking me what to do with something (a belonging of mine) and my brain freezes up, what do I say to them?

How do I communicate that I can't answer their question, in a way that prevents them from getting so upset at me for not having an answer that they throw the thing at me and storm out of the room yelling at me?

frustrating isn't -
one should have a better understanding of our struggles..
my best friend of 30 yrs laughs with me,
He is starting to GET IT.
so thankfull you can get the educated stuff,
you do the smart stuff and I'll work on the small stuff..
I walks in the kitchen four times and finally remember ed I was going to turn off my faucet.
actually ran the sink over a few weeks back, ya needed re waxing anyhows..("
may your simple easy thinking return soon, and the folks you ride with learn to enjoy you.

Doesn't sound like YOU are the problem here.

How about putting your finger up and saying, "Just a minute." Will that work??

Praying you find a solution that will work for both of you! (or all of you)

How about "Brain freeze!"

But I agree with Tutu. This sounds like the other person's (people's?) anger problem. Would family therapy be an option?

I just say "this is just my tick brain" and people chuckle and leave me be. It used to get me upset/mad, but not as much any more since what can you really do about it?

You can't change other people

and you have to deal with what you are dealt to the best of YOUR ability.

and this is coming from me, the most anoying "know it all" that my fmaily has met- so they like to tell me frequesntly (in the past)

now my kids say, "mom, you aren't smart anymore"....

refusing to give in!!!!! I just accept that MOST people do not GET IT and I move on. ...like everything else in life- like PLASTIC- only been telling people for 20 years about THAT danger

I figure if I do as much advocating for tick diseases now that I can, in about 25 years (when everyone is sick!!!) it will be on Oprah and the mass public will start to listen

I have learned there are things that I can do when I'm alone at my own speed without the stress of someone else there because just having someone there is a distraction a stress for me I leave those things for when I'm alone it means my house is a mess I hate it but I don't know what else to do because trying to be OCD about keeping everything where it belongs its just too hard too stressful and makes me sicker
