Can they do this with organic? China does not have a good food quality history, ie, putting chemicals in m ilk/baby formula etc. this is reallly frightening!

- This may be to satisfy the hunger of the Chinese people. Their farmlands are dwindling now, as is the number of food suppliers. They are importing a lot of ham from the U.S. for their own citizens.
Do you have a link? I don't understand why they would do that it's just not cost effective to import and then export again.
As for what YOU buy, just know your source. Most likely organically fed, free range chickens would not be selected for a round trip journey but the label standards can vary. Be sure whatever you buy that is to be organic is CERTIFIED such by a US Tilth.
Buy from as close to home - as close to the farmer / rancher as you can, from the best organic supplier if you don't have a natural foods market with such a guarantee.
"Transitional" is also a consideration. -

Ranchers for beef, bison, lamb may have a similar certification organization. Same with whatever those who raise chickens / eggs might be called. -

- Call the staff for your area farmers' markets. Even if they don't hold markets for the winter, they will have a list of them vendors and where you can buy locally or regionally produced foods, from that list, sorting out those that are at various places in the organic spectrum.
That's how I found the best source for lamb, from the farmers' market website. And it turns out that the rancher delivers to my closest grocer. -

Very sad news. Global economic politics & severe pollution and additives aside for the country in question, shipping food ANYWHERE to come back to us is not a move toward health and nutrition, only toward money.
Seems this " USA Poultry and Egg Export Council" is not at all concerned with health. Who in their right mind would think this would be of nutritional value to the consumer? Who? And just what has been in THEIR diet to kill their brain cells? There are so many problems with this plan I can't begin to list them.
Now, this makes me wonder if we aren't already doing this with other items, other countries and the chicken thing is just the latest move?
