Husband has told me hes feeling ill. He lifted a heavy workbench in the garage and says hes very sore. Also has the lower abdominal lump. Hes positive he has a hernia.

Cant lift anything and walking even hurts. Went grocery shopping and he couldnt even lift bags.

I mentioned doc but that didnt go over very well.

Geezzz

He'll whistle a different tune when his guts start falling into his scrotal sac.

Yeah may sound totally witchy but ive learned to just let him be. If something happens. Well it happens...

Im strong. Ive had to be. Cest la vie...

I don't know why it takes so long for men to get themselves to the doctor. Carmen is so right on this one.

If he's positive he has a hernia, what does he think will happen if he doesn't see a doctor?

I had hernia surgery as a day patient, and it really wasn't painful. Just achy, like period pain--nothing like the pain that drove me to the doctor in the first place.

Dont know. He says it. Will.go away and he'll just live. With it.

Like I said. Must be a male thing. I figure if it does happen he'll deal with it.
No use trying to talk to him but its frustrating to me.

And we have insurance and all. Not like he doesnt have time or the money...

But it hacks me off nonethneless.

Yeah, they refuse to take care of themselves and end up so sick, we end up taking care of them instead. [bonk]

"He'll whistle a different tune when his guts start falling into his scrotal sac"

Thanks for the chuckle Carmen. That is the funniest reply in a long time.

Did anyone else find it funny? Am I demented?

Ok, dont answer THAT

And when it strangulates you will have to plan and pay for a funeral.

Local guy did that here. Lived by himself so dont know how long it took to find him.

When they strangulate it only takes minutes or hour or two to be fatal.

Just like when part of intestine just dies for no reason,,,its a life and death situation to get to medical care fast enough

Funeral is taken care of. He said just cremation. Fine with me

I jus told him I paid all the insurance payments so I'll be taken care of.

Sometimes you have to be heartless.

Hahaha!

Carmen...that's hilarious.

Merrygirl...I laughed out loud at Carmen's post also.

Although I do agree, hernias should be fixed.

Y'all are preaching to the choir...

We'll have to wait and see. Like I said insurance is paid.

One of my previous jobs was assisting military families when they had a death in the family and then assisting my sister when mom died.

Im well equipped if something should happen.

Merrygirl and Greta, you're right: Carmen deserved more of a response for that brilliant line!

Randi--sounds frustrating. Eventually the pain will force him to the doctor.

OK.. so I laughed too.

I guess I should have laughed [lol] but I didn't because this is nearly what happened to my husband when he let his hernia go untreated for too long! [bonk]

Maybe it's fear.

I have fear and anxiety with going to Dr.s (western regular type Dr.s) and fear and anxiety with medical procedures.

P.S.
Tell you what, there is a medical appt. / procedure that would very much be in my best interest to attend to, I put it off/ am too afraid.

I secretly wish my spouse would say: enough already! Make the appt. for me, and take me/ go with me. Insist on it, be the strong one.

I know you complain about him Randi, but he is your spouse, he's gone through some stuff with you- you travel together, etc.

If he has a hernia protruding, maybe make the appt. and go with him.

I do that, surprise. When I know my husband needs to see a Dr I ask him if he would like me to make an appointment for him. He will begrudgingly say "OK." .. and off I go to call!

Oh no y'all. He would be furious if I did that.

I did it once and I said never again. I tried to get him to a doctor when he had bleeding in his eye. He had a retinal detachment.

I stay away from his medical problems. Even his primary said hes tightly wound.

Doesnt want me involved and thats that. He hates doctors and hospitals.

When my gallbladder ruptured he dropped me off and left.

Nope ill leave him alone. When it gets bad enough he'll do something.
