Well still no deer did I get or see.

I had a live trap set for a nice big tasty rabbit!!!

I GOT A NASTY OPOSSUM!!!

Any body that wants it let me know!!!!!

I opened the trap and it sat in there and woulden't leave.I had to push it out with a stick.

MADDOG P.S. I think it was grinning at me!!!!

So....you poked it with a stick eh? [Big Grin]

I cornered one accidentally a few years back. I backed away cause it started hissing at me. Bet they have a nasty bite!

I liked Charlie's recipe best. I love sweet potatoes and cooking it whole sounds fun. Course the Jack Daniels part might have influenced my choice.

Ha ha [Smile]

Thanks for the offer, but no possum stew for me!

Silly things. I had a similar incident when I tried to catch some feral cats a few years ago.

The possum literally played "possum" acting dead, not moving from the trap.

I opened it with a big stick and then I ran fast so it could hustle its way back to the safety of the tree line.

Unfortunately I seemed to catch the same possum numerous times! It was a big fat one.

Sammy, they are really stupid animals. however they are cleaners.

They eat all dead animals, dog poop, anything rotten.

4 legged vultures they are.

There was a cow that died at grandmas ,it was winter.

They toed the cow away from the house and barns with the tractor.

The opossums got inside it and ate it from the inside out living in it .

I've eaten woodchuck. Actually pretty good. Possum, no way.

However, I have a depression era 1930's cookbook and it does list how to prepare possum [serious]

Funny - I'm reading a book - character about to make possum stew. Recipe - Cajun? - sweet 'taters and something else. Apples?

I confess I have a possum named Fester.

Well that's what we've named all the possums we've seen over the years.

Gotta go feed Fester. Always see him/her in the dead of winter - cold - I think he/she has about three hairs on the body. Feel sorry.

So I toss scraps out for "it". Usually "it" runs when I go out - the other night "it" didn't.
Maybe "it" has made the connection I throw the food out - no need to run.

The other night I didn't see Fester - and actually got worried.........

Guess what Fester has eaten this week? Apple skins and apple cobbler - which I couldn't eat.

So we've got apples on board - but no way!!
