Hey, everyone!

Beautiful sunny day here after heavy fog this morning. We're in for a gorgeous week.

And HIKER is off on Monday! WOOT WOOOT!

AK .. ironically, we DID go to the museum for the jazz competition! We didn't even know that museum existed. It had a nice little auditorium.

I think I'm actually going to take a nap today. We'll see. I'm tired, but not sure I'm sleepy.

Hope everyone has a great day .. esp kayak! [Smile]

Sunday-Beautiful warm day down here too. Still off my feed so skipped prednisone and Dayquil seeing if that will help.

Just puttering around and ran errands waiting for my Mom and Co to come home.

Still no exercise....might be awhile until I'm feeling better.

Later gang!

Ak--hope you feel better soon.

Gorgeous day here--mid 60's and no wind.

I walked 30 minutes with trekking poles and wearing knee brace.

Sat outside in the lawn to read for a bit.

Am looking a eyeglass frames. I know I need a new prescription when I go in June and I love my frames, so I may just order the same frame and use the current ones as my back up pair.

My good buddy is coming over tonight for "girl" time.

Hi. I think some big permanent changes are happening. Good ones. Right now I would say my biggest problem is constipation. And considering the types of problems I have been dealing with for that to be the worst problem is pretty good

I could solve that problem immediately by stopping pain med...but I don't want to slow down the progress with mobility and don't want to risk having seizure so I am decreasing pain pills very slowly but surely

Today I get a call early from head nurse to see when she will come. She's supposed to bring me the necklace thingy you wear in case you fall and need to call for help

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

Wonderful... especially about the medical alert necklace!!

Take extra magnesium .. and then take some more! [Big Grin]

Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :

lp--You sound so positive. Keep it up. Glad you are getting a med alert necklace. Wonderful idea.

Sure enjoyed my day off and I every vacation day reminds my that I will love retirement.

Ran a few errands.

Walked 30 minutes in the lovely weather.

Sat at a local coffee shop and had some French vanilla mixed with decaf and read.

Came home and read some more. So glad books were invented. I love turning the pages and not using a kindle or nook for reading.

Watched a recorded show--The Good Fight--a takeoff from The Good Wife. Then was disappointed that the rest of the series will be streamed and you have to pay for it.

Well, back to my book and back to the reality of work tomorrow.

Very positive but exhausting day. I wanted to share one thing. The supervisor nurse of agency caring for me has some sort of histamine intolerance. I was wondering why all of a sudden my weird allergies were not that big a deal with helpers. I need to sleep but will be back

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

That's amazing, kayak! You got lucky for once!! [Smile]

Posted by aklnwlf (Member # 5960) on :

Monday:Sheesh, still have sore throat and my lat is really bothering me. Just took a whole pain pill and muscle relaxer. Going to GP tomorrow for refills and followup for throat. Hope I can squeeze in lat pain because it's really hurting.

Been doing dishes and cleaning kitchen so that's my exercise.

Hiker-I'm thinking about getting another pair of Ray Bans before my insurance is cancelled. That way I'll have a back up pair too. If I felt better I'd have that done already. I'm thinking of something new and funky for myself.

Kayak-Glad your doing so well! Can't believe the nurse has histamine issues too. Maybe you guys can exchange ideas that'll benefit both of you.

TuTu-Just took some Mag but sure am under the weather. Think it's the pain pill and muscle relaxer making my histamine high. Also BP is high. Wish I wasn't in so much pain from the lat strain.

Well gang, just gargled with really warm salt water and hoping I'll feel better tomorrow. See you all then!

[hi]

AK... uh oh...Certain pain pills cause degranulation of the mast cells. You have to be careful which ones you take.

I'll find the site for you. You can check the list.

https://tmsforacure.org/

I'm guessing you're taking hydrocodone. I know it makes ME itch like crazy.

Glad to hear Kayak is doing well! yippee.

AK being sick on top of lyme is so so hard. Hope you find relief soon.

Lymtoo, always good to see you! [Wink]

Hiker, we are having good weather too. It's so nice. Hope you enjoyed your walk.

Just a walk and some stretching for me today. The ups and downs of lyme. . . today is a down. Still want to move my body somehow though.

Good morning, HW! It's still morning here. [Smile]

We are getting drizzly rain today. It's about 58 degrees.

I'll go to exercise later. I need it!

Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :

Rain stopped here, so I walked 20 minutes after work.

Going to be in the 70's tomorrow and then snowing this weekend. I knew the weather was too good to hold, but I sure have enjoyed it.

HW--a walk is about all I can do most days. So just hang in there.

Posted by lpkayak (Member # 5230) on :

A K dilaudid is supposed To be lower histamine than other narcotics. It has helped me a lot with surgery pain

I have continued to make positive strides. I am working hard. Exercising hard one hour after taking pain med. Helpers and cleaning ppl are working out good but I still have pain and exhaustion

I pay one person $10. To walk Etta 15 min every other day. She needs and deserves the walk. I hope the money will motivate me to start walking her
Hang in everyone. Gotta go

Tuesday-GP worried about lat strain. On mild pain pill during day then vicodin and soma in the evening. She also added a diuretic cause my BP is too high. Upper respiratory infection is better so not as much coughing.

Feel crappy.

TuTu-Thanks for the link but pain is so bad have to take meds. My Allergist warned me about the Vicodin in particular. Might try Dilaudid like Kayak recommended.

HW-Glad to hear you'rd moving and grooving!

Hiker-Kudos on getting the walk in.

Kayak-Thank you so much for the med tip. I have problems with so many meds it's so great to learn that I can take something for pain.

See you all tomorrow!

[hi]

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

AK .. I was just trying to warn you about which kinds will make you sicker. I also took Dilaudid for pain when I had surgery. So ask them about it.

Take it easy, OK?

Hi all
I hope everyone has a good week!

Hoping to make it to yoga today and walk my doggies for exercise!

Hiker-I'm with you on the books-I have never read from a kindle, etc, just a good old fashioned book-love the smell, turning the pages, etc. My kids think I'm nuts!!

Have a great day
Di

AK- keep making strides!!

I'm headed to the gym today. It's a bit better day today. It will be light stuff (as always).

I like to walk outside, but it's raining today...

HOWEVER, today is massage day. I have a wonderful friend that is a massage therapist that gives me an amazing deal on weekly massages.

It's the highlight of my week! [Wink]

Happy Wednesday all!

Posted by lpkayak (Member # 5230) on :

Another pretty good 24 hrs. I did have a long period of pain late yesterday. I know they are increasing the exercises but I think I might have forgotten to take a pain med cuz it really hurt for 4 to 5 hrs

I slept good had a good morning and PT let me walk in drive with walker today

Sh eff also took away one exercise that hurts my ankle

I'm just finishing up ice and going to make dinner

I graduated and don't need weekend helpers now so Handiman will replace hot water heater

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

OH .. a massage .. would be so nice. Why aren't they free for all who suffer? [Big Grin]

kayak .. Sounds like good progress! Sorry to hear that your water heater went out!

I had a bad day yesterday due to something I ate. Won't make that mistake again.

Hoping to go to our friend's show this evening.

Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :

Oh. I want a massage. Last time the massage felt great but it released too many toxins and I have been massage shy ever since.

Kayak--I am amazed at your progress. Keep it up!

Walked 20 minutes after work.

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

Same here, hiker. Long story on my last massage but I almost ended up in the ER. I went for help with my neck (long story for sure).. and she overdid it.

OMG .. it was bad. I was literally preparing for the ER when my second pain pill finally kicked in .. (after muscle relaxants, etc)

Wednesday-Went to one store at the mall with Mom. They had one of their twice a year sales and we were there for 5 hours! So that's my exercise for the day.

TuTu-Thanks for chiming in about Dilaudid. Hope you made the show tonight.

Dogs-i use a Kindle and still read regular books. The downside to that is when I'm reading a regular book I try to 'scroll' to the next page.

HW-Oh....gym and massage.....they both sound wonderful. Enjoy yourself!

Kayak-You were just ah getting it when it comes to recovery. So happy to hear you're doing so well!

Hiker-Congrats on getting that exercise in!

Calling it a night. See you all tomorrow!

[hi]

5 HOURS IN A STORE?????

I cannot imagine...

I had bad pain for 5 to 7 hrs again later in day yesterday. It is a pattern. I will talk to PT about it later

OT comes now to test me on taking a shower

I have to call surgeons office to find out how to get more pain pills. I have to send someone to office to get them and office is an hour away. Its cuz of new narcotic law

Well I better lock Etta up. O t will be here soon

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

Getting pain pills is a PAIN.. I know they are making it harder and harder. My doctor told me that he would be dropping some of his patients who are on pain pills because it's too hard to manage.

He said he would have to hire another staff member just to take care of all the requests he has to send in to the insurance companies.

[Frown]

I hope you can get off the pain meds soon. Then things will be BETTER!!

ok, bummer to all of you that had bad reactions to massages... They have been my saving grace at times.

Today, My head is killing me, but a friend called and wanted to go for a walk. We walked and talked and it was good for the soul.

Glad I still have a few friends that want to do something with me, even if it's just going for a walk.

I would NEVER make it 5 hrs in a store. I go to Home depot with my hubby and end up finding a bucket at the end of the isle, tipping it over to sit on while he shops. LOL

Date nights with a lyme wife.. fun, huh? He's the best though.

Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :

HW88--You are Tutu are blessed to have husbands who care so much and understand.

Ak--I have to admit. I hate shopping of any kind.
Went to the grocery store today and wasn't too keen on even shopping there.

Had a guest speaker in for my science classes. She was a civil engineer (It's national engineering week), so I only had to really teach two classes.

The grocery store was my exercise as it is raining outside and not a great day for walking.

Posted by aklnwlf (Member # 5960) on :

Thursday-Well the mild pain pill my GP prescribed made me fall asleep this afternoon. No exercise today but made cornbread, greens and baked chicken thighs for dinner. Dessert was strawberries and angel food cake. Invited Josh for dinner so we had a great little visit.

Oh, I'm finally feeling better, no sore throat and lat is better too! Yay!

Kayak-You know I was surprised I had no problems getting pain meds from my GP. I was expecting trouble but didn't have any. She prescribed my regular Vicodin and Soma and I asked for something milder during the daytime. Someone at the gym had mentioned she was having problems getting a RX. I try not to take to many because of MCAS.

TuTu-Trying to wean myself off pain meds now. I feel better today and can breathe more deeply. Pulling a lat muscle is no fun!

HW-My little Mom wore me out! The last hour we were at the store I was able to shop for myself. She bought 3 wallets, a scarf, 2 pairs of shoes and a coat. I bought a blouse and plaid leggings. I wore flat shoes but my feet were hurting by the time we left.

Hiker-I used to dread grocery shopping because I went after work and dinner Friday nights. I ended up getting home around 10 or so exhausted.

BTW, for my praying buddies here, can you all pray for my friend Lori who went through a rough divorce today? She was married at least 30 years and is very heart broken.

Thanks!

[group hug]

Good to hear from all of you...

I feel like I've been through the wringer today. My sister in law had her esophageal surgery today. It began at 8:30 this morning and she just got out of recovery about 15 minutes ago.

I AM SERIOUS! [Eek!]

It was an 11 1/2 hour surgery and 2 1/2 hour recovery. The surgery was supposed to take 6-8 hours so there were several hours where FAMILY was worried.

The doctor said he had trouble getting all of the lymph nodes out (in her chest) due to all the damage from the radiation.

She will obviously have a long recovery, but GOD IS GOOD and He can work miracles!

Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :

Tutu--sorry to hear about your sil, but glad the surgery is over!!

40 mph winds today and getting chilly, so I won't be walking outside. Will head to library after work to grab a book for the weekend.

Have a reporter from the local paper coming to talk to my writing class about how to conduct interviews and his profession, so better get ready for that.

Happy Friday.

Tutu...in so sorry I sent you silly texts before coming here and seeing what was going on in your life. I'm so sorry. She must be a really tuff woman to get thru something like that.

I took my last pain pill 24 hrs ago. I had weaned down to half dose. And planned to wean slower but the person who was supposed to pick up pain pills didn't at last minute. Someone is supposed to pick them up before 6 today but she lives half hour away and I'm not sure when or how they will end up here
I may go thru a bad withdrawal alone. I know that. The PT helped me think that thru

I considered paying a cab to pick them up but it was $200. So I decided not to

I was able to read above what you are all going thru now that there is less pain med messing with my brain

A k ...be care full of strawberries...high histamine!

Hiker I talked to PT about my new trekking poles and riding bike to lose weight. She thinks I can start soon. I started walking outside on drive and road 2 days ago. I can't do it with Etta yet. She gets tangled

I'm blanking out on what I read but I think I 'll be back here more now

Kayak .. no worries at all. I'm in such a happy mood today compared to yesterday that you could tell me I'm the worst person you ever met and I would laugh! [Big Grin]

I DO HOPE AND PRAY THAT YOU WON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH WITHDRAWAL!!!

For those who didn't hear... my brother told me this morning that my sis in law was sitting up talking to him today. I was amazed .. so he sent me a pic and she looks AMAZING for someone just having gone through all of that surgery!

There are many battles ahead, but I think she just jumped over the biggest hurdle ever. I think she's got to stay in the hospital two weeks. Hopefully, she will beat that!

They have to make sure all connections will hold and that she will be able to eat. If you pray, please pray for all of that.... complete healing and NO MORE CANCER!

Hiker .. that sounds exciting about the reporter coming to the classroom. I always loved having visitors come to the classroom. I used to bring in a beekeeper every year and he would show them the hives with the honey .. very interesting stuff.

My father in law used to come in and tell them how oil wells were drilled. That was interesting too... even for fourth graders.

We had soap makers, we made butter, ice cream in a can ... memories....

I was going to warn AK about the strawberries, but I figured if she was still alive to talk about it that it must be OK. LOL .. [Eek!]

We had our Bible study today and I went to the grocery store. I need to go make an angel for someone. I'm a week late. I swear I'm going to have to close my Etsy shop because I am too lazy to make the items. Is that shameful or what!? [Big Grin]

Friday-Juiced for me and Mom and made a big salad with chicken and boiled egg for lunch. Ate strawberry/angel food cake for my dinner and then read about strawberries here. Oh boy!

Talked with my friend over 2 hours and she's barely hanging in there. Thanks for prayers everyone!

TuTu-Your poor SIL! I sure hope and pray that she'll be OK. That's such a long time to be under anesthesia. NO MORE CANCER!

Hiker-TGIF! Nothing like a good book! Always time well spent. I've always loved the library but haven't been going enough. The library here is big and fancy compared to where I used to live. They have a lot of activities and I really need to start going.

Kayak-Are you starting to walk?! I really need to get off the couch and start walking too. My Mom went to the gym today and I was a couch potato after lunch. BTW, thanks about strawberries. I'm so so but had a small reaction to cantaloupe. Guess I shouldn't eat those either.

Oh gang, I heard from my attorney's assistant today and they are drawing up my divorce papers. Hoping by next week to get them signed.

Well, off to TV land!

I need friends. I'm going on 24 hrs off narcotic. Its not horrible but I seemed to get extremely fatigued and the PT that checked me said I should go easy on myself not even worry about my exercises. So I did that yesterday I napped. I let dishes pile up. I did go out on all 3 patios with Etta on long leash so she could explore and I sat in sun. I had to wear mask cuz air was moldy from neighbor

I took my regular meds right and have had airclesners and dehumidifier going cuz with all the snow melting the ground is wet and I think the slab is getting wet cuz there is a wired smell in here

I have had 2 ppl in the house everyday since I came home from hospital and I have not had any of my allergy attacks but I usually had to wear mask when they were here

One time yesterday I coughed when I got near bathroom where lady was cleaning. I know it was the cleaning stuff she was using but it is what I always use. That was wierd. I just moved away til she was done and never had to put on mask

But then after a pretty lazy day I iced my knee and fell asleep in living room and woke up 5 hrs later from coughing. I took all my allergy meds and it stopped and I went back To bed in bed too. It seemed cleaner.

But I woke up coughing after 2 hours two more times. I'm getting sinus and chest congestion too and scared of bronchitis

I can take the rescue meds every 4 hrs but not every 2 hrs

So I am blowing air out of house and getting ready to ozone and blow out each room to be sure there isn't anything in here making me sick

And I have calls into 2 ppl to find out if they have respiratory illness or were near anyone who does. I'm antsy cuz there is no where to sit where all my parts don't hurt

It scares me to think I might be allergic to house when I am this fragile with leg

Can you still get someone to get your pain meds? No pharmacies will deliver?

I hate that you feel so trapped. [Frown]

Maybe your mast cells are just triggered from withdrawal. It may all settle down once you get your meds again or can at least TAPER.

Hang in there!

Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :

LP--What happened to the woman who was going to get your meds? Rats!

AK--Hope you can get those papers signed soon and start to get some closure. Must be so hard.

Did odd chores--cooking, laundry etc. Am going to have a lazy evening.

Our warm weather went east to Kayak's place and we dropped from over 70 on Wed. to upper 20's today. I don't mind walking in the cold, but not if it is windy which is pretty common here.

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

Kam's birthday was today. She got some beautiful pink roses from a friend and then she went for a drive with another friend.

Her tire blew out big time. They got AAA to rescue them. Hope she can get a new tire without totally killing the budget.

The tire was a MESS.

Hiker .. It was cold here too. I think we had a hard freeze last night. It was maybe 45-50 today and will be 50 tomorrow. Then each day will get warmer.

Saturday-Kayak really got me motivated so I went to a park by myself and walked for 35 minutes. It was such a beautiful day here. The gym was closed so I went to a nearby park and am so glad I did.

My upper side hurt a bit but I recovered nicely.

Josh took me out for a Chinese dinner and we watched the newer Ghostbusters movie at his house.

I brought my Mom some hot and sour soup home so we all had a pretty great day.

Kayak-Thanks for getting me off the couch! BTW, I don't know about you but my pain meds make me stuffy. I'm still weaning myself off and am not taking the 'milder' one during the day. It was making me sleep during the day. I feel better too just taking my regular half a pill at bedtime. I wish I could find something to help me sleep besides sleeping pills. I take half of one of those too.

TuTu-Thanks for the list. I'm really bad about my diet. I notice that I get a runny nose a lot when I eat and didn't realize it was histamine. During the holidays I ate a sweet pickle from a jar that was at least a year old and I swear my throat closed up instantly. Have never had that happen and it scared me to death. Also I'm half Asian and am wondering about my DAO levels. Seeing my Allergist on Monday so will have to ask about getting tested.

Hiker-Divorce is very hard. My main worry is going without health insurance but I'm going to take a small step of faith. I really think someone is trying to tell me something and it's way, way overdue.

Well, night gang and see you all tomorrow!

[hi]
