So I now have boxes full of stuff that I tried and won't ever use again. I've got stuff like nearly full bottles of woodland essence tinctures and a whole bottle of gabapentin I'll never take, but I got it in November, it could help someone else out a lot.

Does anybody need anything or is there some kind of exchange for all this stuff?

Sending supplements in the mail is fine .. sending prescriptions in the mail is against FEDERAL law.

I have some supps I could share with others.

Adding to part of LymeToo's post, just good to know this:

Not just is sending Rx prescriptions through the mail against federal law, even giving any Rx to another (even in one's own household) is against the law, too,

and if another person has some kind of reaction to an Rx you give them (for whatever reason - and gabapentin very often causes all kinds of bad side effects and can be hard to predict), there could be serious consequences in terms of cost and legal proceedings as well.

If the bottles are unopened, I have a list of people in need of supplements. NO RX DRUGS.

You can, and I thank you in advance for your kind donation, if you are a known member at LN, send me an email and tell me what you have so I can get them to those in need.

[email protected]

If that doesn't suit your fancy, you can contact your local animal shelters and wildlife injury recovery centers and ask if they are in need of the items you have.

They often need a variety of medications and things like bandages and first aid supplies.

You can also, if near an active Lyme disease support group, attend a meeting and offer the donated supplements to members who may be in need. PLEASE contact the group leader first to be sure they will allow you to do that.

Kind of you to want to share Big J & TuTu. Very nice!

Often here I've seen posts of those who might give some unused supplements to others (sometimes for the cost of postage).

As for Woodland Essence tinctures, you might need those at another time. They are very specific and can't find other places, very often.

You might ask your LLMDs office if they know someone who could use them.

another place to inquire would be your local lyme support group if you have one.

Good idea about the animals.

This just seems like a huge waste to me. Gabapentin made my spine jump around by itself. I'll never touch it again but other people are in terrible pain without it. It cost me 300 dollars!

Tut.

Yeah, gabapentin really did me in is ways I could have never predicted. Never again.

If you dispose of it, be sure not to toss in down the toilet or the sink where it can enter the drinking water supply - or in the trash where pets or wild animals might later find it later in a landfill. Even in a landfill, though, rains will take it back into the water supply.

There are places to take old medicines where they are disposed of safety. Any major medical center would know or maybe take it. Just give them a call. If there are some clinics that perhaps could use it, someone should know that, too.

Earth 911 website

How to Recycle Unwanted & Expired Medications

. . . Find a recycling location by your zip code . . . .

Excerpt:

. . . Do any pharmacies take back medications?

Yes, some take back medications at their location, while others provide mail back envelopes to send your drugs to other companies that will dispose of them properly. . . .

Looks like any clinic or overseas program that can use unused Rx would need it to be in blister sealed packaging.

Another avenue:

April 29, 2017 –

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

each community will have numerous locations for drop boxes - just cross check on the web with your zip code

Our police department will take old drugs. I have a bag to take in. Gotta get that done.

I found out from the post office not long ago that you cannot even mail an RX TO YOURSELF. Just something that came up in discussion with an employee there one day.

I think that's to prevent someone from saying, "Oh, I was mailing this to my friend because I was going to see him next week and needed my meds to be there."

All of the supps I have are already opened. I have a bottle of Mag L-Threonate that I took ONE pill out of and a few others. Can't think right now what the others are.

Our support group has a supplement box and you wouldn't believe the donations and people that look over that box every month.
