This would be a really bad thing if they make laws to restrict someones access to $$ for treatments THEY chose to have.
Both articles have people who want GoFundMe and other such sites to stop patients from getting contributions to pay for treatments the so-called "OFFICIALS" don't think we should have... other than the traditional junk that THEY approve of and can supply.
Chronic Lyme treatment is one of the diagnoses they used in the study that they want to stop.

Not once during this article did the authors offer any examples of even ONE patient who suffered from injuries incurred while using any of these treatments.
Very biased research article. Back up your accusations Dr Vox and colleagues.

I agree with all of you! This is soooooo bad. They won't let us have treatment. They work with insurers to assure we don't get it.
Then when we are stinking sick and at rock bottom and need to do something to save our own lives (with LEGAL and accessible treatments), they try to take away our ability to do so.

Stopped back by here after seeing 86 different PUB MED studies about "crowdfunding", including another one this month.
I didn't read them all of course, but saw some from the UK, Canada and other areas. The bad news is spreading, so hold onto your hats boys and girls.
The diseases mentioned ranged from breast cancer treatments, to rare genetic diseases, to orthopedic surgery, to cardiovascular research, etc.
The few I skimmed through were all talking about the need to restrict or regulate crowdfunding so patients wouldn't have access to treatment these hotsy totsy (academia) doctors didn't want them to have.
Again, I ask...

- The "rules" of being an incorporated body are that profit margins for investors / board members comprise the first, main rule.
Corporations are required to put profits before anything, it's actually written into the federally controlled & protected rules of incorporation, bylaws, etc.
Most doctors' offices, hospitals, medical centers, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies
and many "boards of directors" for various organization even many / most which are under the guise of health services. Make no mistake: this is business.
Some may be not-for-profit or non-profit but that can also get very tricky and not always what it sounds like . . . their articles of incorporation favor the owners of the business, even if seemingly not-for-profit or non-profit.
When such bodies are incorporated - they are corporations.
First rule written into their articles of incorporation: make money for investors. It may not be listed as the first but all matters must bow to the profit margin for investors.
A major part of "make money" / "increase profits" also to do all possible to prevent losses whether regarding actual money or perceptions that might lead to loss of their stature hence potential profits or place of power.
This gives them great power in the market place / public sphere. Manipulation might be merely a tool of business. -
