Maybe this was discussed earlier, but i am just noticing it now. When I come here, I get "Not Secure -- Flash.lymenet.org" at the top of the page.

Anything I should know about being careful?

You can find our postings on the www. I'm not concerned at all because anything I've written over the years, is my truth. I'm not hiding anything that I wouldn't say aloud to anyone, anytime, anyplace.

I really don't care, but others might.

It is of concern. Just posting, and with one's email address on file, and a date of birth used as part of the process at many sites, if hackers can get the ID of a computer, they can often get into personal computers and go to town in various ways.

I never use my actual birthdate when asked, though, but still, if someone - or some robot anywhere around the world - could lift my identity from my computer ID code (forget what that is called) . . . it is of concern.

Our IP address? I think that's what each individual computer's identity code is called.

Since I cannot tolerate the harsh visuals with Windows 10 (and my current Windows 7 is dropping out of service) . . . Sometime this week, I'm getting a new-to-me used computer and I have to reconsider logging onto any "not secure" site. I will ask the guy who's going to be connecting me about this.

Could one of the moderators talk with the site's own computer guru about this?

It may be that to be a "secure" site, there would be money that would need to be paid for that status?

I wonder why it's "not secure" and even tells me so in my URL in red print.

When I switch computers this week, and since it's also gong to be an older one, I need to be very protective of where I log on. If I don't sign in for a while, it's likely that . . .

but also that I have to shift my focus for time and research to get much more specific in what I'm exploring now within the area of a ketogenic way of eating / healing.

At the year & a half mark, I'm much better in some ways, though have much more to learn as to how to hone this for my best chance of success. I have many good leads and just really need to focus on fine tuning this, learning much more.

Yet, I hope we can get this question answered as I truly do appreciate the forum that LymeNet provides and it's so very important.

Still, it's important to know for sure that there is no way I'm going to compromise my computer security. I hope we can find out the answers.

I only see the "not secure" banner if I am on my smart phone. I don't see that when I am on my computer.

I do not have any kind of cell phone, just the old style. I get the "not secure" not in the URL on my desktop computer.

It's been there for quite a few weeks / months, actually and has concerned over time but more so now that i'm about to switch computers and will have a new IP address that I do not want compromised.

On my PC, GoogleChrome and Windows 7 . . . if that matters, perhaps.

I have a real concern about this also - the URL lock icon has a slash through it meaning it is not secure on my computer.

What is the latest information on this?

It just means the connection between your computer and this website is not encrypted. One way to know if the connection is encrypted is if the site url begins with https instead of http.

To fix this, especially for those of you still on Windows 7, you will need to install some kind of anti-malware/anti-virus software and use a VPN (which encrypts all connections between your computer and any website you visit).
