Welcome to the exercise thread! We like to post activities to encourage one another to be as active as possible.

So if you're walking, hiking, biking, weight training, running, etc. please post about it here!

Vacuuming, cooking/baking, laundry, gardening, sewing, etc. are also some activities we post.

Here we go gang with another week in a new year!

[woohoo]

Today will be a rest & relax day. All of our company went home yesterday.

I have a family circle letter to write.

I want to take a nap and then read.

Meals today will be easy - leftovers from the parties! For lunch today, cheesy potatoes, peas & carrots, sausage, and for dessert, pie, cookies, fresh fruit, ice cream or homemade candy, your choice!

We had quite a bit of snow last night. When you add that to the ice on the trees I have more limbs down in my yard now. Some are too heavy for me to move and impaled into the ground. I’m sure there will be more to follow.

Luke came and shoveled for me. Then the snowplow came by and I had to shovel several feet high snow from in front of my driveway and mailbox. My shoulder is not going to thank me.

I tried to get the ice and snow off the birdfeeders but the ice needs to melt.

I did a load of laundry. This afternoon I’m going to call my mom and then probably take a nap and just relax.

Have a great week!

Mom and I went to Ft. Benning to make a payment at the PX and grocery shop at the commissary.

Then home to unload groceries and pick up trash blown into our yard and the neighbor's yard.

Dropped off a few things at Josh's then ran home to grill steaks before dark. Made baked potatoes and we had peas and carrots too Manna.

Manna you deserve a break! Company can be very fun and draining at the same time.

Hiker I don't miss shoveling snow! I didn't have to do much when I lived in Anchorage but when I moved further out I had to shovel a bit if my roommate didn't get to it first.

Time to veg! See you all tomorrow!

I did my knee exercises this morning.

Ventured out to Kroger. Most of the streets are free from ice but so many downed trees. Some have been without power and heat since Friday night.

My street is still icy and I practically skated at my mailbox.

Will take the garbage to the street soon. Snow plow has 3 feet of snow at the curb so can’t put garbage can in usual place.

May drive my car across the street to Howard’s recycle bin when he puts it out. Recycling center near me was pure ice and I don’t want to break my neck walking across the street with my recycling box even with my yak trax on.

It has been foggy for several days and the fog and icy/snow covered trees are beautiful.

Had 2 red foxes playing in the yard this afternoon.

Have been reading some today. Thank God for books!

Drove my Mom to PT then to Office Depot to look for a stand up calendar. From there we shopped around at Big Lots and the Korean market.

Picked up a late lunch and dropped off some to Josh.

A friend of mine tested positive for Covid and she might have infected her daughter, grandson, brother and elderly mother. I hope and pray that they'll be OK.

Also other friends and their families are positive since gathering for Christmas.

Very hard to even get tested right now. [shake]

Hiker I'm with you about avoiding ice! I hope and pray folks will get their power restored. I've been working away on the 1000 piece puzzle my niece gave me for Christmas and enjoying the challenge.

Off to read too!

Got 30 loaves of bread baked today. My 3 new bread pans that I got for Christmas got put to work today. That brings my total pans up to 13. I was able to get more done in less time with so many pans.

I had 8 pans in the oven at the same time once. Hard to get that many ready to bake at the same time. My white bread is mixed up in 3 loaf batches and the wheat is 1 big loaf and a small loaf. The wheat bread goes in the bread machines and the white I mix up with my mixer.

Tomorrow will be laundry day and desk work day.

Ak--So sorry about your friends and covid. Seems like it is everywhere.

I got up early to do my balance exercises.

Cleared the ice in front of my mailbox.

Then went to chiropractor.

Have been taking it easy to hold the adjustment since then.

Since I joined project feeder watch I am doing a bird count at my feeders twice a week. Today was day 2 of the week. Mainly finches and chickadees. Then you type the data in at a website. The idea is to get an idea of where birds are in the winter.

Started working 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle. I think my brother picks out the hardest ones for me on purpose. [Big Grin]

Manname---That is a lot of bread. You must have a big oven to fit 8 pans at a time.

My oven is a nice sized one - it has 3 racks in it. It stayed with the house. The top has 5 burners, which is nice.

We had great piles of wash for today. Hadn't done much the end of the week. Still have a few loads to finish up.

My turn to cook supper tonight - hamburger bbq, diced potatoes, french green beans, zucchini casserole and blueberry pie for dessert.

Time to ease off on the baked things.... I found 5 extra pounds again when I stepped on the scales. :-(

No sleep last night so it was a rough day. Just had one errand thank God. The carpenter came out and sealed and painted the sill and trim for the windows which should be in this Thursday.

Manna what I wouldn't give for homemade bread slathered with butter! Summer's spent at my grandparents farm included all we could eat homemade butter on endless corn on the cob and bread!

Hiker no puzzle enjoyment today. I was way to tired to see clearly. This puzzle has odd fitting pieces making it a bit harder. I'll send you a pic so you can see what I mean. I hope you enjoy yours.

Off to sleep!

I went to the grocery store this morning.

Then I did my knee exercises.

I finished my thousand piece jigsaw puzzle. Once I get started I am addicted.

I watched in horror at the storming of our nation’s capitol. Sad day for our nation.

Took a brief nap.

I hung blinds in the dining and living rooms while listening and partly watching in horror the news that unfolded today at our Capitol.

This is a very sad day for our country!

I pray for everyone's safety!

[group hug]

I didn't sleep well last night. Probably due to being upset about what happened at the Capitol.

I did my balance exercises this morning.

Washed my flannel sheets and put them back on the bed. Resisted getting into a warm bed and taking a nap. [Big Grin]

I talked to my mom a long time. She is very forgetful but very sharp about news events and loves to talk politics. She is happy about getting her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Saturday at the retirement center. Maybe when everyone there has had their two doses visitors will be allowed in.

Went to the library to return 4 books and get 3 more.

So, I am now reading The Return, by Nicholas Sparks. I have always enjoyed his books.

My brother sent me another 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle today. So, I have two left to conquer.

Will read and watch Illini basketball tonight.

Worked on the Christmas lights, replacing burnt out bulbs and fixing one section that didn't work. Turned out one of the bulbs wasn't making a good connection. Had to check only 15 to find it. [Roll Eyes]

Washed and changed my Mom's bedding and made a dinner of turnip greens and cornbread.

Been on the phone for about an hour with Josh and he's feeling better everyday just a little tired.

Hiker you're just cranking out those puzzles! I had to move mine off the dining room table today to change out the tablecloth. Josh is coming over Saturday to open presents. We're going to keep our KN95 masks on and he'll stay in the dining room and me and Mom will stay in the living room. I'm packing some hors d oeuvres for him to take home and we'll eat together via zoom. It'll be a short visit and we'll be at least 6 feet apart. Glad to hear your Mom is staying sharp and chatting away with you! I know you both will be relieved when visitors are allowed again.

Oh BTW, that author that you mentioned, I've watched most of the movies they made out of some of his books. Loved them!

Night all!

Ak--Glad Josh is better and that you will be able to see him.

Have another headache today. Grr.

But, I did my knee exercises.

Talked to mom briefly and then to my brother for a longer period of time.

Tried to take a nap but couldn't sleep.

Am reading now and will probably just read and watch TV tonight.

Last night a little after midnight someone started to repeatedly ring our doorbell. Something told me not to go up to the door so I stood silently in the kitchen watching the door.

About a minute later it started again. So I went to get my handgun and told Mom to be quiet and stay in her bed.

Again I didn't go up to the door but started to peek out the windows. Nothing.

Needless to say me and Mom didn't get much sleep. I stayed in the extra bedroom to hear better and eventually fell asleep early this morning.

Checked everything outside in the morning and found an old phone line box wide open by the windows in the room I was staying in. Had to screw it shut with a screwdriver.

So today I closed up all the storm windows giving us two sets of glass that would have to be broken for someone to get inside. Also this evening I checked my motion detector lights in the backyard and they're working great.

Just another day in the ghettohood! [shake]

AK—someone at your door at midnight would be scary.
Hope you enjoyed time with Josh today.

I did my balance exercises.

Did two loads of laundry.

Paid bills and filled out a long hospice survey.

Called mom. She wasn’t feeling too well after the covid vaccine so I will call her again this evening.

Plan to read and relax this evening.

Had a busy day of baking chocolate chip and sugar cookies, chicken wings and pigs in a blanket. The sliced cheeses and spinach balls I prepared earlier in the week. Packed up Josh's food to go and we visited for about an hour and exchanged gifts. Had a wonderful time.

Tomorrow I'm going to try and install the dash cam with backup camera that Josh got me for Christmas.

Hiker I signed up just now for a hand gun course with Focused Fire Training for women only on February 21st. Will probably get my permit for concealed carry. The class states that they train stance, sighting, etc. A friend of mine might be going too. The last time I took a course for women's self defense I broke my wrist. Sure hope I don't have any mishaps.

Hope your Mom will be OK after the vaccine. My Mom's doctor just sent me a message about setting up an appointment for her to get the Covid vaccine also.

Off to rustle up a midnight snack.
