Good morning and welcome to the exercise thread.

Let us know what you are doing for the day for exercise this week. Shoveling, vacuuming, yard work, cooking? Anything counts!

And just for today you can count eye movement if you watch the Super Bowl! [Big Grin]

Have a great week!

Bitterly cold here with wind chills at 25 below zero.

Last night I shoveled the light fluffy snow at 9:30 PM and about froze my tootsies off!

This morning I am ran a load of laundry and attended church via Zoom.

Called mom this afternoon and then re-soaped my shovel for the snow that is coming today and tomorrow..

Took a short nap and then chatted with BFF.

Watching the Super Bowl is on my agenda, although I don't really care who wins.

But I decided to have a salad dinner and then have some cocktail shrimp, grapes, dates, and nuts while I watch the game.

Thanks Hiker for getting us motivated this week! I'd like to watch the Super Bowl today but I don't know if Josh would be interested. Since my Dad is from MO and I have lots of family there I'm rooting for the Chiefs.

All I did today was make a super easy brunch for me and Mom and pick up trash in the yard. I'm going to help her roll up the egg rolls later.

It's sunny and in the 50's down here. I'd better enjoy while I can.

I'm still a Houston Texans fan, but I will behave myself in my adopted state and root for the Chiefs. I'm not a Tom Brady fan anyway.

AK .. 50's and sunny is my kind of weather!

hiker .. It's cold here, but not that cold!! Ugh .. It's like a meat locker out there!

I saw snow on our radar last night, but very little precipitation of any sort that we could tell this morning. Our car doors were a bit sticky but made it just fine down the hill.

Pastor had a great sermon today about "What motivates you to do what you do? What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?"

the Super Bowl should be interesting. What's planned for half-time?

My stomach is still not happy, so I'm not sure what to eat today. Oh well.

See you guys later!!

I shoveled the drive and sidewalk. Just an inch of light snow.

Of course, now it is snowing again and I may clear the drive again tonight.

I did my knee exercises.

Made chicken salad.

Worked on Bible study.

Called my mom’s retirement center. They are beginning to open up the dining room to the residents but it is by reservation only using the computer. My mother doesn’t know how to use a computer.

Their response was that I could make the reservations for her which is totally ridiculous. I am not going to micromanage her life from a distance. I know others are in the same position and she should be able to simply call front desk and make a dinner reservation. So I’m working on that by a nice polite email to the CEO of the retirement center.

Need to get garbage to curb but should probably shovel first

I agree, hiker. They should allow her to call. She can't be the only person who doesn't know how to use a computer.

Up early and did 2 loads of laundry. When Mom woke up I made brunch of soup and sandwiches. Took her car to get the tires and fluid levels checked since we're heading to Atlanta on Wednesday for her 3 month liver cancer check-up. She has them every 3 months.

Afterwards I took her car to get gas and went grocery shopping for just a few things.

Didn't have to cook dinner because we had plenty of leftovers.

Oh and I cut my Mom's hair before brunch.

TuTu hope your tummy gets better! Good to think about what gets you motivated to get up in the mornings. I'm so blessed to be able to care for my Mom and that keeps me motivated.

Hiker that's got to be super frustrating with the retirement center. Why on earth can't they just call down and make a reservation? Our water company recently changed and customers have to set up their accounts online. The gal that worked there said so many customers don't have computers and are elderly. That just ticked me off! What are they thinking?

Ugh...it's only 8:35 and I have nothing to do. Think I'll watch this Amy Schumer movie called I Feel Pretty. Hope it's good.

[hi]

Ak--I like Amy Schumer. How was the movie?
Praying your mom has good results tomorrow. Does she get a liver scan?

Tutu--Hope the freezing rain is long gone there.

We did have a bit of snow overnight. I didn't have to shovel but I did use a broom to clear the sidewalk and drive so it wouldn't harden and get icy. My shoulder is not liking all of this.

More snow tomorrow. Not supposed to be more than a couple of inches but I may call Luke to shovel just to save the shoulder. We have snow forecast in small amounts almost every day this week.

I did my balance exercises.

Called mom.

Called her life alert company to take dad off the account and reset my password as it expired and my user name didn't work.

Worked a bit more on my taxes but need more forms to come to finish them up.

Have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning. Will sit in the car until they are ready for me. May toss my flannel blanket into the front seat!

Off to read a bit.

Yesterday was baking day.

Did some laundry in the evening.

Today got a couple more loads of laundry done.

Worked at cleaning and organizing my sewing room! Managed to get all the boxes off the cutting table and everything out from under the table. Washed up the floor twice as the dust was so bad.

The table is again setting full as I open boxes and organize my shelf space and decide which boxes go where... tomorrow is another day.

My turn to cook - made chicken noodle soup with the leftover chicken from Sunday dinner. Had the soup simmering while I worked in the sewing room.

Still waiting for our seed order to arrive.... feels like it is very, very slow this year. Or we are just very impatient!

Manna .. you are so fortunate to have a sewing room. I used to have one. So nice to have!

Hiker .. hope you can stay warm out there. It's really cold. We have been getting freezing drizzle and freezing fog, so we didn't venture out. More tonight.

AK .. Tummy is better, thanks. Sure hope your mom gets another good report!

I haven't done a whole lot today unless a shower and a nap count. I also made another craft item and watched a little TV. Our neighbor next door is remodeling .. BIG time. It will be noisy for several weeks.

You guys have a great evening!

I think me and Mom are worried about tomorrow's trip and tests because we both didn't sleep. We're both medicated so hope we can sleep tonight.

All I did was buy breakfast and heat up leftovers for dinner. I'm exhausted!

Hiker my shoulder is acting up too. Might be part of my insomnia issue. Be careful with the shoveling. The movie was cute and funny. Good to laugh at her antics.

Manna you're getting so much accomplished! We have a sewing room/extra bedroom. My Mom has an older cabinet with a Singer sewing machine in it and a serger machine on top along with some notions. We have fabric, threads, patterns, etc. in 3 rooms and the shed in the back yard!

TuTu I don't blame you for staying indoors! Hang in there with all the noise. Do you have ear plugs? I use some occasionally along with an eye mask to sleep. We'll find out the results of Mom's tests next week and I'll let you all know how she's doing.

My meds are kicking in so it's sleepy time for me. Night everyone!

Ak--Hope your mom's appointment went well!

I went to the dentist this morning. They had really salted the parking lot well, so the falling snow wasn't even sticking, but the road were horrid.

Just got my teeth cleaned and got a good report.

Skipped grocery shopping today because there parking lot was snow filled.

Did my knee exercises.

Called mom. She is really upset about not knowing how to make a dinner reservation because she lacks tech skills for the computer. I am waiting for the CEO of the retirement center to call me back about this issue. I may be waiting forever for that call.

Still snowing but hopefully in a couple of hours it will stop and I can shovel. Blowing and drifting and COLD!

Will fortify myself with dinner before I shovel. Burger, snow peas and a salad.

I actually got some sewing done today!!!!!! Made 6 'Things to wash dishes with', those scrubby's made from fabric with little holes in it. can't think what its called.

I'm now working on a quilt patch. There's a group with a Block of The Month quilt patch. I'm working on January's block and next I'll start on February's. It will have a different block each month. So I'm using scraps - mine will be a scrappy quilt.

Washed all the bedding on my bed including the blankets. Should have a nice fresh bed tonight. Did a load of towels also.

Home from the big city of Atlanta and I'm wiped out!

Liked the scrappy quilt comment Manna!

We did a takeout dinner and picked it up on the way home Hiker. So no cooking for me thank goodness. Mom and I split a dinner of veal Marsala, roasted potatoes and steamed veggie medley. It was extra delicious because I didn't have to cook! LOL!

Night gang!

Manna-The quilt group sounds like fun. I have my quilts my grandmother made but I have never tried to make one.

AK—glad you are home safely from Atlanta. Dinner sounds good.

It snowed last night. So, I got up early and shoveled. Of course then it started snowing again.

Went to Bible study via zoom.

Then went out and cleared the driveway of snow again. Just as I finished the snow plow came by and walled in my drive. Thankfully my kind neighbor came and shoveled the foot tall barricade so I could get my car out.

Went to library. And picked up 2 books on hold.

Called mom. Short chat today.

Took a nap.

Am heading to read the paper and to the crossword puzzle. Just staying warm on the couch tonight with a good book.

Ak .. you two doing OK today? Glad you made it home safely! Waiting to hear good news next week!

Hiker ..Give me tips on how to get out if I have no snow melt! I made it out today because we had some snow melt on the sidewalks. I couldn't get to my car, so I took hubby's.

Long story short: I started feeling poorly so I only made it to the pharmacy for important meds. They brought them out to me

I called the heart center because my echo is scheduled for Monday and we may have tons of snow at that time. I have an appointment for 8:30 tomorrow, but I'm not sure I can get out again.

There is evidently no snow melt in town. Our maintenance guy is planning to find some, but he may not get here early enough. Poor guy has to drive over hill and dale to get here.

Manna .. The quilt sounds fun. The oldest quilt in our family is at my brother's house. He's the oldest. It's one of those classic ones. I can't remember the name of it.

Stay warm, everyone!

Finally recovered from our trip to the hospital in Atlanta. Had errands to run today and it was drizzling most of the time. Didn't really cook today and just threw in a pot pie for dinner. Mom is just snacking and might not eat dinner. Sometimes I make her oatmeal for dinner.

Hiker I had good intentions to start on a book but got side tracked and read some out of my bible and also Back to Eden (health book). I used to be very bad about reading several books at a time. I'd read by mood and looks like I'm starting to go down that rabbit hole again.

TuTu that trip took more out of my Mom than normal. We went out to lunch after her appointment and shopped at one of the many farmer's markets there. She lasted about an hour. She's been taking it easy today. Hey, we were talking about heading to your neck of the woods once the virus is more controlled. Really want to visit with family there.

Well...off to find something to watch...maybe the news...sigh... [Roll Eyes]

Night all!

Baking day. Not much else got done.

Cooked a pot of vegetable soup for lunch.

One of the boys made hamburgers with all the fixing for supper. Delicious!

Daughter started embroidering daisys on some of the patches for her jeans quilt.

I didn't do more than carry 2 empty cereal boxes to my sewing room. Want to use them for quilt patch patterns.

Read the circle letter that came in the mail. Now I need to write my letter.

Snowed overnight and today. Have about 1 1/2 inches or so.

The sun actually came out for a little while today but it is cold. More snow and bone chilling temps and wind on the way.

I went to the grocery store this morning.

Did my knee exercises.

Called my mom and my brother for long chats.

Spent an inordinate amount of time putting reservations for mom for the retirement center dining room on the portal. She has to call her friends whom she will eat with each day and they all have to make sure they each make a reservation. So, sometimes the time they agreed on is gone when the last person makes the reservation. Only 50 allowed in dining room per covid restrictions. My mom is upset at how hard this is. Change is hard for a 93 year old. And a lot of the residents are struggling with the technology. Glad I can do it for her.

Went to the library again.

Will read and watch Illini basketball tonight.

Watched a couple of movies with Mom. Made brunch and then headed out for a couple of errands. Picked up the tiramisu bar cake and went to another store and splurged on Haagen-Daz coffee ice cream for Josh's big 4-0 tomorrow.

Bought special paper plates, napkins, etc. I'm thinking about getting some black balloons too!

Just going to be me, Mom and Josh for dinner. I'm picking up take out from his fav Mexican restaurant.

Manna I had saved old denim scraps for a number of years to make a quilt too. I gave up on it though. I bet the daisies look real pretty!

Hiker reading about the dinner reservation fiasco is so upsetting! I can't believe they aren't helping out more over at the retirement center. Sure hope and pray that your Mom will be OK. I bet she's excited about eating in the dining room again.

OK gang...off to watch some news!

Cleared the drive of snow once again. Very cold and will be 8 below zero tonight with wind chills 25 below zero through Monday. More snow coming, so hired Luke to shovel after the first round is gone Monday night or Tuesday morning. But will snow Wednesday and Thursday, too. Sigh.

Did my balance exercises.

Did 2 loads of laundry.

Set up a time with bank to get my mom there on Wednesday to get some documents signed. Then I saw the Wednesday forecast and may need to go earlier in the day.

Called mom.

Worked on taxes.

Worked on Bible study.

Chilling out on the couch tonight.

Hiker .. you are inspiring me to work on taxes. I need to get it done.

I managed to get to my car today. The sun came out and melted all the ice/snow next to my car, so I got in and ran the defroster to get it off the windshield. I had to get the ice scraper out too.

I thought it would be a good idea to start the next week with a cleared windshield. Ready for rounds 2 and 3!!

I made it down the hill to get the mail and dump trash. The roads were so good, that I decided to take hubby's car down the road to get gas.

Then I rolled on over to Dollar Tree and picked up some of our favorite candies. lol

So I feel better!!

AK ..How was your party??

Have a good evening, everyone!!
