Hi, everyone!!

Just getting us started for the week!

We had two more church members return today. We hadn't seen them in a year!

Hope we will be seeing more and more soon.

I can't believe tomorrow is March 1st already. Sometimes it seems like the year has dragged and sometimes it feels like it has flown by.

I visited church via zoom.

Did 2 loads of laundry.

Chatted with mom for quite awhile.

Took a power nap but am skeptical of the power I received. [Wink]

Have a great week! [Cool]

Probably will watch a chick flick tonight.

Hi everyone! I'm finally off the heating pad! Josh is coming for dinner so Mom helped me by chopping up some cabbage which I sauteed with olive oil and some seasonings. I topped it with whole kielbasa type sausages and am gonna bake some frozen french fries. Still have coffee ice cream so it's an easy dinner thank God!

My left knee is a bit swollen and sore and hope it'll get better soon. I've been putting Uncle Bud's CBD rub on it and it helps some.

Hiker I bet you enjoyed all the gabbing you did with friends. I can't believe it's going to be March either! I'm going to wear purple on the 4th in honor of my sister.

TuTu thanks for getting us started for the week! Bet it was nice to see folks back at church. There are so many people I haven't seen since last March. My AK bestie came down twice to Florida and normally I would jump in the car and drive the 7 hours to see her but my mother put her foot down and told me 'No'. Even at 61 I still have to do what I'm told! [Big Grin]

Manna did I hear you say you're getting flour ready for this week's bread baking? Got some fasting coming up and I know I'm going to be dreaming of homemade bread slathered with butter!

OK gang...off to get things ready for dinner.

Yup, I have 3 snack tins, those metal chip or popcorn tins you get at Christmas, each with 4 bags of flour in them. Each bag of flour makes 3 loaves of bread. So enough flour weighed out for 36 loaves. I only make half of that at a time. This is the white bread.

I also have 7 containers of the flour for the wheat bread. I need one more container, to have enough for 1 weeks baking. I do 4 batches of 3 loaves each.

Its getting easier to streamline the process. I set up both mixers and mix 2 batches at once, which makes enough to fill my oven. I'm learning how much time to wait till I get the next batch started so they aren't all ready at the same time!

Today its been rainy. Emailing a friend back & forth today. Talked with my sis-in-law this afternoon. Took a nap, intended to read a book!

We had homemade bread with butter and strawberry jam for lunch and for supper today. Yummy!

Will March come in like a lion and go out like a lamb or the other way around?

Went to Kroger this morning and used my coupons.

Did my knee exercises.

Went to library and then filled the car with gas.

Worked on Bible study.

Need to drag garbage to curb and get items to recycling.

Grilling lamb patties for dinner.

Got all the bread baked, even 3 extra loaves for us! So come on over quick, before we eat it all up!

Hubby and sonny went out to work on the tractor this afternoon. The part for it came in the mail today.

Got one load of towels washed today.

Talked on the phone with a friend this morning.

I'm tired tonight.

I'm headed over, Manna! Would you send me directions in a day or two so I can find you? lol

Hiker .. Your day sounds pretty calm. Are you doing OK?

I have a Bible study tomorrow at church. I haven't finished it yet.

The other day I went to Hobby Lobby for some thread and I saw some really pretty decorative pottery bowls. I wanted one, but wanted to think about it first.

I think I saw them twice because I was there a few times for felt which was on sale. So Friday I decided I wanted one of those bowls.

I went back .. NONE! Empty spots on the counters. I think someone bought all 3. I asked an employee and they said they couldn't order more. They just get what they get.

She suggested trying one of the other stores. One is 40 miles north and one 30 miles south.

So this morning I asked my husband if he would take me to the town south of us. (I had planned to go alone, if need be. I'm not used to driving there and just would feel safer if he went along or took me.)

So .. he said yes and away we went! Low and behold, they had ONE and it was on HALF PRICE!! I said, "Oh, I didn't know they were half price."

She said, "They wouldn't have been last week! That will pay for your gas!"

I said, "Thank you, Jesus!" It wasn't expensive, but oh so nice!! I love a sale!

It looks really pretty where I put it. I also found a wall hanging I liked and some thread for embroidery. Happy camper!

We also stopped at a really cute place our Bible study group went to about 3 years ago. It has good food and some nice shopping. Cute place.

My stomach was still on the blink from yesterday. I think I ate too many things that contained citric acid. I have had terrible heartburn from it. UGH.

So hubby ate a sandwich and I shopped a little. So funny that I found one of my Corelle plates in with antique china. LOL.

So funny to see it in a cabinet with china. I guess the 3 plates of it that I have are about 30-35 years old. They went along with china I had, so I've kept them. Good to know that I have antiques. [Wink]

hmmm ..maybe I should have bought it. I dropped one a few years ago on the tile and it went everywhere!

OK .. Going to sign off. I hope AK is doing OK.

Happy March everyone!

Me and Mom had an unexpected outing today. I dropped off 1099's to my old CPA in Alabama. So we drove about 40 minutes to get there.

I might owe back taxes for the state of Georgia. They'll call me with the bad news.

Ate lunch first and then went to the CPA's followed by a trip to Angel's Antiques for a couple hours of browsing. I found some knee pads, a pilates ring and some fluoride free toothpaste.

Manna I'm stopping by with TuTu!

Hiker I hurt my knee from painting the fence. Hoping it'll heal up soon.

TuTu you scored at Hobby Lobby! I have 'antiques' too. I still have my hope chest that my parents bought me for my 16th birthday!

Well...time for me to go elevate my leg. Night all!

Ak .. I could pick you up!!

Your day sounds great, except for the taxes. YUCK.

Only 2 loaves left! So you better hurry over!

Mmmm! Nothing better than bread still warm enough to melt the butter slathered on it!

We had a lot of rain overnight and some creeks were out over the banks. Nothing serious in our area. Thankfully, most of our snow had melted before the rain.

It did wash stones out on the road from our lane. So a couple of the children helped hubby sweep and shovel them back.

We can hear the waterfalls coming down off the mountains. Sounds real musical outside now.

MannaMe--I love the sound of waterfalls. I have done a lot of hiking at falls fairly close to you. One of the pictures I took of a waterfall near you hangs in my living room.

I did my balance exercises.

I spent an hour on hold trying to make a MD appointment for my mom. After talking to the person, a nurse had to call me back. Finally got an appointment in June. Ridiculous.

Called mom. I need the name of her new dentist so I can make an appointment and take her, but she can't find the business card. Hopefully she will have found the name of the dentist by tomorrow.

Filled the birdfeeders.

Spent some time uploading pictures from phone to computer and editing them.

Read a lot this afternoon, so really I had a lazy day. Would have been a good day to go for a walk, but my shoulder is really bothering me and since I need my trekking poles, I am hesitant to go walking as the pressure and swinging of the poles will aggravate my shoulder.

Am watching Illini basketball tonight.

Went grocery shopping this morning.

Did my knee exercises.

Fixed a drippy faucet.

Picked up asphalt chunks from the lawn. My street is falling apart and the snow plow dug more into the asphalt and deposited it in the yard. Don’t want a mower running over it.

Called my mom after I made a dental appointment for her. Don’t think she was thrilled that I did that. [Wink]

Called my former teacher who has become a friend and chatted for an hour.

Did early voting in our local election.

Have a good evening.

My knee is doing better today so took Mom to the commissary for some grocery shopping.

After unloading everything did a load of laundry and changed bedding for my Mom. Planning on doing mine tomorrow.

I threw away my work clothes the other day because they were covered with paint. So went to Goodwill this evening and found a flowery, baggy button down shirt and some crop jeans to work in the yard.

We're supposed to have beautiful weather tomorrow so I called my neighbor and told her I'm going to flip over the landscaping blocks in her yard near the fence I painted. I got way to much paint on them.

Also plan on redoing my concrete block steps into the shed. They aren't level and I want to add some pea gravel into the holes to make them more sturdy.

That's my plan anyways....

TuTu come get me and we can swing by Hiker's and head to Manna's for some homemade bread!

Manna I sure could use some rock for my landscaping projects. I drove by a rock shop off the highway on the way to drop off my taxes. I'm going to see what they have. I love the sound of waterfalls too!

Hiker I love the sound of water. Rushing water, the ocean or waterfalls are just so soothing! Glad you were able to make those appointments for your Mom.

It's only 8:00 and I'm ready to head to bed...sheesh! See everyone tomorrow!

Transplanted my baby geraniums into individual pots this afternoon. Added more straw to my potato plants growing in boxes. Left them on the porch tonight as its not supposed to go below freezing.

Did a few loads of laundry.

Called the garage to make an appointment for my daughters vehicle inspection. Called the accountant because our tax organizer hasn't showed up yet. Must have gotten lost in the mail.

Tomorrow is baking day again. We opened a jar of peach jam today! We'll be watching for you ladies!!

Went to Bible study via zoom.

Did my balance exercises.

Made phone call to internet company to get price down a bit.

Will need to do the same with DirectTV soon.

Called mom.

Filled bird feeder and watched the downy woodpeckers.

Am reading a bit this afternoon.

Did my knee exercises this morning.

Went to chiropractor and then have been taking it pretty easy so manipulation will hold. It sure does release toxins.

Spent a lot of time trying to explain to mom how to use her answering machine that goes with her cordless phone. Finally called retirement center and they sent someone to help her. She still doesn't get how to play back a message. Sigh!

Worked over an hour on Bible study and still have more to do on this lesson.

Called my buddy in NC and chatted.

Not sure what I am having for dinner tonight. May just have a TV dinner. I don't cook on Friday nights, but don't feel like going anywhere to get take out. I always have a couple of TV dinners in the freezer.

I managed to flip the pavers at my neighbor's. Finished my concrete block steps but not quite how I wanted to do them. I didn't realize it would take so much pea gravel so switched up the design and hope they hold up.

Also repotted a boxwood bush into the planter that had our hibiscus. The hibiscus was attacked by squirrels and didn't survive the winter.

Today I took Mom to Ft. Benning to pick up her RX's.

Afterwards we took a road trip to a small town about 45 minutes north of us. We checked out a small antique shop there and also stopped to buy some groceries at a Kroger grocery store.

Manna I ordered some seeds for bitter melon and am going to try and get them started and into the raised garden I put together last year. Wish me luck because I'm a beginner. Growing them for my Mom and might try to find something for myself too. BTW, that peach jam sounds so good!

Hiker I hope they can help your Mom figure out how to access her answering machine. I set up a Call Caption phone for my Mom in her bedroom. It shows on a screen what the people are saying when they leave a message. She still calls me in there to check her messages....Hang in there!

Time to relax! Night all!

Hey there, everyone!

Had an eye appointment on Tuesday and my cataracts are a lot worse. Well, I sort of knew that!

Not sure when I will contact the surgeon, but I might wait 6 months or so. The Dr said I'd probably give in when I couldn't pass my driver's license test! True!!

Tuesday morning we had our Bible study at church and Wednesday afternoon, we had the one upstairs. We are studying Galatians here at the condos.

Speaking of condos, our next door neighbor is tearing out the entire place, including a few walls. They worked from 8:45 till 6:20 yesterday.

It was brutal. Even the other neighbors were asking me about it. (Like how can you stand it?) I was handling it OK, but my husband is sensitive to noise. He was about to lose it.

He had earplugs in PLUS peltor muffs. They don't usually work that late, so I hope they got the worst of it done. They have already been working for about 2 weeks.

I'm still making birdies over here and enjoying the weather.

Tutu—my friends say the cataract surgery isn’t too bad. Bummer about the remodeling noise.

Did a load of laundry this morning and then did my balance exercises.

Walked around the yard picking up garbage that has blown in over the winter.

Talked to mom for a bit. She still doesn’t understand how to retrieve a message from the answering machine. Tomorrow I will just have her turn the machine off. She hasn’t used an answering machine for over a year, so if she can’t get the hang of it I would rather people not leave messages and then they assume she has listened to them.

Am watching Illini basketball now.

Hope to trim back my clematis and some other plants soon. Shoulder is protesting and going “snap, crackle, pop” so I may give in and make an appointment with the orthopedist and get an MRI. Sigh.

Got the clean wash all folded and into each person's basket. Had one of the boys carry each basket up to the right bedroom. Now its each person's job to put their own clothes away.

The boys checked the fluid levels in daughters car. She went to the parts store for the oil and filters she needs. The boys changed oil and did what needed to be done.

Some of the children went to a farewell party tonight for a co-worker who is leaving.

Had another lovely sunny day, though rather chilly. Needed a coat if you were out for any length of time.

Hubby said the mock orange bush has buds on it! So spring IS coming!! I want to go out to look around to see all the things that are starting to push buds tomorrow.

Ak, I hope your plants grow and thrive! Its so much fun to see things growing!

I usually make jam and jelly myself instead of buying it. Bought jam is often jelly with bits of fruit in it. My jam is the blendered fruit, so its full of fruit! That's how my mom always made 'jelly'.

During canning season, she put the bits and pieces, the imperfect fruits aside, then blendered them up and froze it until winter time. On a cold winter day, she pulled out those containers of fruit puree and made all kinds of jam! Mmmm, the kitchen smelled good when we got home from school!

Lymetoo, hope your noisy neighbors are soon done!

Hiker, what color is your clematis? We had a lavender colored one at our other place. It was there when we moved. Never did bloom very much. But pretty when it did.

Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :

Manna-I have a lavender clematis and purple ones. They bloom lage spring through fall.

Another busy day! We met Josh at a local store that had plant pots, vacuums, potting soil, etc. on sale.

He bought a much needed vaccuum and I bought some potting soil.

We also shopped at a discount grocery store.

I drove Mom home and made a Sam's store run and shopped at Goodwill.

I found a unique zippered, flowery wool vest at Goodwill.

TuTu all that noise would be hard to deal with! Hopefully they'll be done soon! Hope and pray your eyes will be OK.

Hiker how frustrating to still be dealing with your Mom's phone issues. Not using the answering machine might be the best solution like you said. I feel for you where your shoulder is concerned. Might have to get it checked. I am sure I need another surgery (will be my 3rd shoulder surgery) but will put it off til have insurance.

Manna your jams and jellies sounds like a work of love! Wonderful that your kids help each other out!

Heading for bed. I can hardly keep my eyes open.

[sleepy]
