This is a same-old, same-old story of doctors denying Lyme disease in their state,

a very sad story with the loss of a young husband and father,

a story of detection of a new form of borrelia in Colorado,

and a hopeful story with a doctor willing to take chances.

"A second paper published in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology in August 2000 gave the new Borrelia isolate a name – Borrelia bissettii.

The strain has been identified in at least three different tick species in Colorado and has been isolated in humans displaying clinical symptoms typically associated with Lyme disease.

According to the study, “It is therefore possible that some cases of Lyme disease in the United States may be caused by B. bissettii.” "

Reading that article made me angry that doctors, even, with positive western blot tests, still deny Lyme.

I can’t even count the number of doctors I went to who said Lyme isn’t in your state as if ticks know state boundaries.

And, of course, there are mutations of Borrelia just as there are mutations of Covid and other diseases.

Thanks, Ann, for posting this.

Thanks for posting this,

Gramma 'leena'. had land there for many years. Will always wonder if her 'Parkinsons disease' started with Lyme Disease. No one knew back then, seems to many still don't know.
