Rainy day here and only 63. Put on long pants for the first time since May.

I have enjoyed a pretty lazy day for my birthday.

I did one load of laundry.

Listened to the National Cathedral Church Service.

Worked a long time on Bible study. We will be studying 1 Samuel.

Yakked on the phone for ages with several friends and my mom.

Took, yet, another load of recycling to the bins as I continue to clean out items from file cabinet, drawers, and closets.

Am spending the rest of the day being lazy--reading and watching tv.

I do have leftover appetizers, chocolate and a tiny bottle of champagne that I and my friends did not consume last night, so that will be my evening snacking.

And, of course, I took some quiet time to remember 911–such a sad day 21 years ago.

Happy Birthday hiker!

Rained all day.

Did back stretches for 2 15 minute intervals. It really helps lower the pain level. Afterwards, a long hot shower and I feel so much better.

Went for coffee and water.

Cleaned kitty litter boxes and took out garbage.

Talked on phone catching up with family. 💕
I was on the porch with my animals watching the rain clouds

Watched TicTok videos on tv. Did you know there’s an app for TicTok on the tv? I found it today. Like I don’t watch enough tv, lol.

Waiting to watch Tom Brandy on Sunday Night Football @ 7pm.
Getting the chicken fingers and celery ready.

Happy birthday Hiker!

Thanks for getting us motivated for the week.

I did one load of laundry and cleaned the bathroom.

Had all of the family over (minus 2 nieces) for hotdogs and hamburgers. So 7 of us all together.

We all had a good time.

My poor little Mom had no sleep last night so she took some medicine and is sound asleep.

I downloaded a book from the library so am getting ready to read and then to sleep, perchance to dream.

[sleepy]

Busy day and I am exhausted.

Rode the exercise bike for just 5 minutes to warm up for my knee exercises. Also did my feet exercises.

Went to the public library.

Called mom.

Cleaned off the shelves in my office room and sorted through items and got rid of a lot. Dropped the 3 ring binders at a junior high near me.

I have some paint stored downstairs and some of it is old, so got kitty litter to mix with it to dry it up.

I discovered one can had rusted through on the bottom and I have a mess on the cement floor. Went to get my turpentine to clean it up and then couldn't get the lid off as the can was so old. will go buy turpentine tomorrow.

Went to look at the Mennonite Community Condo. I liked it and spent an hour there measuring, making lists of what needs repair etc.

Then on my way out the guy showing it to me told me it was not really available at the moment. They are going to rent it to the new pastor.

Also, someone on the list who is Mennonite might be interested and since I am not Mennonite I don't have priority. I understand, but I am so disappointed. [Frown]

Then as I got in my car, he said, "I can't believe how many steps you have in your house." Duh! That is why I want to move to a one level home.

Took the garbage to the curb. Have lived here for 33 years and have never filled the garbage can up and I did today.

Hamburgers, asparagus and tossed salad for dinner.

You guys have been busy!!

Hiker .. why in the world weren't they honest with you right away!?? How annoying!!!

Church on Sunday went well for me as far as delivering the sermon. I had TWO couples from the Gideons show up. NO PRESSURE or anything. LOL.

I think I did well. My husband and I had to do the entire service (twice, but different ones each time). Last time I did the sermon, another lady took care of the other part, so we were caught off-guard.

I still think we did OK, but my husband was rattled. We were both EXHAUSTED when noon came around, so we went out to eat. We've been eating at home lately on Sundays.

We have one special place that brings us homey comfort.

Tomorrow I will go visit my friend Sharon in the nearby town.

Tutu--Glad the sermon went well!

I did my balance and feet exercises.

Spent time on Bible study.

Cleaned up the area in the utility room where the paint can rusted and leaked. Still has a stain, though.

Made more nectar for the hummingbird feeder and refilled it along with seed for another feeder.

Went through a lot of my clothes and pulled a bunch along with a few other items to take to the thrift store. Now I just need to take them there.

Took a nap this afternoon. Have a sinus headache. It's that time of year when allergies really bug me.

Plan to read a JD Robb novel tonight.

I was outside all day yesterday doing odd jobs. It was very windy. So I woke up exhausted, muscle aches and sinus problems. I’ve been chasing symptoms all day with different remedies.

I stretched this morning on my exercise ball then long hot shower.

I started pot roast in crock pot. Enough for 2 meals, perfect.

I gassed up the car, stopped at a road side vegetable stand and then to grocery store. Was home in one hour.

Walked the dog.

Called dog groomer and she said she has retired. Bummer.

Called tree guy again but got answering machine, again.

Neighbor brought over tomatoes. (I just bought some from road side stand).

Vacuumed laundry room and dinning room.

Washed bed sheets, waited for them to dry and then threw them back on bed.

Pain started coming back so back on the exercise ball and long hot shower. So much more comfortable now.

What a day!

PT twice for Mom and once for me. Seeing my physical therapist tomorrow and hope I can get more advice and exercises even though I tweaked my shoulder from doing pushups against the counter.

I was an hour late to sit with Mrs H today. When I went outside today I noticed water in our carport. When I opened the door to our laundry room (also in the carport) there was water all on the floor and pouring out of the water heater.

Panicking and praying that I won't get electrocuted I struggled to shut off the gas (electric lighter) and turn the valve to shut off the water, to no avail. I finally shut off the gas but the water had to be shut off by the water company. A plumber came out but we're without water or gas tonight.

Even though the water is supposed to be off we still have a drip in the bathroom faucet.

Plumber coming in the morning but I'm calling the water company again to ask about the steady dripping in the bathroom.

Sigh.....

Saw our humming bird out front again this morning.

Did the washing and hung it all outside to dry. Had to put a few things in the dryer to finish them up.

Helped Hubby work at the guinea house.

Picked several pumpkins, a few tomatoes, more pickles, a couple zucchinis, and some carrots & red beets.

Made a veggie beef stew for supper. Had homemade bread and strawberry jelly also.

This evening the children built a fire in the fire pit and enjoyed some time outside. Sonny played his guitar.

Hiker, maybe you could join the Mennonites, so you can get a better chance at one of the houses.

Need to get some extra corners cleaned. The spider webs are showing up again.

Company coming next weekend.

Manna—one of my friends also suggested joining the Mennonites. I really like my church, though. I actually don’t go to church all that often because the noise of the organ etc. is too much stimuli for me and sets off my myoclonus.

So, it would be hard to join this large Mennonite church if I don’t show up at church much. Lol

Today I went grocery shopping. Managed to skip the chip aisle and the ice cream aisle. After so many pants didn't fit yesterday I figured I needed to skip some snacks. [bonk]

Did my knee and feet exercises.

Called mom.

Worked on Bible study.

Deadheaded the marigolds. They are still thriving and it feels like summer again here with warmer temperatures.

Went to the functional chiropractor and we changed up a few of the supplements.

Found a few more items to put in the "going to the thrift store pile."

Off to fix dinner. Have a good evening! [Smile]

My little dog had a urine accident in the middle of the night.
It took me one hour to get it out of carpet. I was crying, it was so hard to use rug shampooer, over and over and over again.

Took shower and picked up coffee. Also picked up blueberry pie, I deserved it!!!!! Grabbed.a slice for my elderly neighbor.

Very difficult driving, my back hurt so bad. So back into long hot shower, then meds, then lidocaine patch, then back brace.

Sat on porch in rocking chair and read.
Out of nowhere, the town guys pulled up and started black topping my street. Back into the house and into bedroom.

Called my nurse to see if she can set up a physical therapist appointment.

akinwlf- It’s so stressful when appliances break. We can’t fix that stuff !!!!!

MannaMe- How’s everyone feeling?

I’m having leftovers in bed. Gotta ride out the trying days.

Yay! We have water again. Cleaned out the laundry room where the new water heater is and put everything that was wet back inside once they dried today.

Vacuumed the car, swept the carport and front porch, did my usual PT and helped Mom with hers twice today.

PT went great and he added 2 new exercises and said to try a 5 LB weight. Quite a difference going from 3 to 5 pounds.

Fried 2 small pork loin chops dipped in egg and brown rice flour and seasonings. Mashed a baked sweet potato with butter and brown sugar and also had a small plain salad for dinner. My Mom ate almost all of hers so she liked it.

BB hang in there. Part of sitting with Mrs H is caring for 2 older chihuahuas. They have accidents from time to time and one has seizures. I didn't know and thought he was dying when he had one. Scared me to death!

Manna we love our hummers! I don't know how much longer they'll hang around but we'll enjoy them while we can. Me and Mom watch alot of cooking shows and saw an episode on bread. It sure is a labor of love and made us hungry...LOL!

Hiker I've tried to skip snacks and have yet to be successful. Mom's BFF brought a chocolate muffin and a blueberry one...sigh...

I don't know if I mentioned that I've been real dizzy lately. My Mom too but not as bad. Well low and behold we're taking the same sleeping pill, me recently, and it's interacting with one of my antihistamines and builds up in people with liver disease, so bingo...found the culprit! It's been making me spacey and forgetful too. I kept forgetting to lock the door when I'd leave the house.

Off to read and get some much needed sleep.

Night friends!

For the most part, we are feeling okay again. Still have a few with a little coughing.

Had a nice sunny day!

Weeded my saffron bed.

Did a few more loads of wash and hung them out.

Hubby had one of the boys helping build guinea house today. They got the tin roof put on.

Gabbed with 2 SIL's on the phone today. Also gabbed with a friend.

Cooked a kettle of small potatoes. Used some for fried potatoes for supper. Also fried zucchini. Had tomato slices with egg & cheese salad on top.

Manna--glad your family is on the mend.

AK--Glad you got a new water heater.

BB--Hope your back takes a turn for the better!

I did a deep watering of my perennials and marigolds. No rain in sight for a while.

Did my balance and feet exercises.

Sorted through more stuff in the basement and I now have two big piles to go to the thrift store. A couple of my friends are going to load up their SUV along with their stuff to take tomorrow. The donation site has a ramp and with my balance issues I can't carry a tub down the ramp.

I went and got my hair cut. Way too short, but I guess that will save me going back for a long time. [Big Grin]

Took a short nap.

Worked on Bible study.

Last night there were some teenagers in my neighbor's yard gathered around a huge brush pile and they were smoking. I chased them off. I have never met the new neighbor despite going by several times. So, I put a note on her door explaining the situation. If that brush pile catches fire ... well, I don't even want to think about it.

Baking day. The last 6 loaves are now cool enough to slice.

Hung a few loads of wash outside to dry.

Hubby & the boys worked on the guinea house. Got some of the boards on the front wall. Had to go saw more lumber.

Happy to hear that your family is on the mend, Manna!

Bonnie, are you OK today?

AK .. VERY happy your water issues are solved. I HATE that with a passion!

Hiker .. yes, rather scary about the brush pile. I hope they will stay away and that your neighbor will take care of the brush.

Tuesday I went to see my friend who has cancer and then came home to finish my Bible study reading.

Wednesday was our condo Bible study and it was good. We just finished 1 Thessalonians and now on to 2 Thessalonians. We have two more chapters to read in the "We Won't Be Silenced" book by Lutzer.

Today I went to exercise and found out that my favorite nurse that I've known for 13 years has thyroid cancer. They think they caught it early, but it's so scary.

It's a rare cancer and that is not good.

I ran errands after that and then came home and took a nap this afternoon. I dreamt I was at my last elementary school job and we were getting ready for the new year.

For some weird reason, I was happy about it. hahhahaa.

I found out I missed another church council meeting. They have them on Thursday mornings (every other month), but they never remind us about them. My brain always takes me to exercise because that's what I do every Tues and Thurs.

Anyway, I'm all set for the evening. I think I'll do some reading.

See you guys tomorrow!

Sat with Mrs H today but was super dizzy most of the day. Feel better towards the evening. So hope this isn't a mistake but am not going to take any of my antihistamines tonight or in the morning and see how I feel.

We had leftover sautéed eggplant with miso, ginger and garlic over rice for dinner and I'm already in bed.

Will help Mom with her SI joint therapy around 8:00 and read for awhile.

TuTu I got a chuckle about your dream. Josh is hoping he can hang in there another 15 years until he retires. Kids, parents and the school districts are very different than they used to be. My SIL is struggling this year with 5 kids on the spectrum in preK. She's been at it for 3 years and wants to quit.

Manna your dinner sounds so delicious! All those fresh veggies!

Hiker join the short hair club! Mine is so thin now I don't have a choice because the longer it gets the thinner it looks. Good luck with the neighbor. Our neighbors smoke outside and I can't stand it. It's one of my MCAD triggers.

Off to read!

I talked with my new neighbor last night and she said the teens had moved the brush to make a hiding place and used the cutup logs to make seats. Sheesh.

I did remind her it is illegal to burn brush in town and with our dry summer it would be dangerous, and she agreed.

Did my knee and feet exercises.

Friends helped me get a lot of stuff to the thrift store with their SUV. They had a lot to take, too.

I made a pot of spaghetti sauce and froze most of it.

Talked with mom.

Wrote a letter to a former colleague whose husband just passed away. He was only 70. [Frown]

Went to the district school office to pay my health insurance bill.

Napped in the recliner and read.

Gluten free pepperoni pizza with a tossed salad as usual for my Friday night meal. I usually buy the pizza without pepperoni but decided to be different this week. [Big Grin]

AK--How did your antihistamine experiment work? Did you drop the muscle relaxers, too?

Bonnie--how are you?

I did a load of laundry this morning.

Also did my balance exercises.

Then I worked outside in the yard for a bit. I was pleased to see that my asters are starting to bloom.

I cut back the columbine so it will come back next year and cut the dead flower stalks off the hostas and trimmed the forsythia.

Also watered the marigolds and perennials. Hoping for rain tomorrow night.

Ended up yakking with my neighbor for a long time. He is going to take his heavy-duty equipment this fall and remove some landscaping logs around an area that I don't use as a garden anymore. I will take down the fence and pull the stakes soon. He is a retired contractor and has a lot of equipment. Right now, he is rebuilding his porch and front step.

I worked on the gate on my fence. It was getting super hard to open but was easy to fix with a wrench.

Baked salmon, asparagus and sweet potato for lunch.

Worked on Bible study.

Took a nap again.

Spaghetti sauce over rice pasta with tossed salad and zucchini for dinner tonight. Then probably watch a Hallmark flick even though they all end the same way. [Big Grin]

Had a tough week.
Plus it’s September. . . my worst month health wise.

Fluid in ears, headache, brain fog, wide spread inflammation storm, jaw pain came on out of nowhere, crying over dead pets.
Enough already!!!!!

Gave the dog a quick shower and then it was my turn.
We both felt so much better.

Washed 3 pillows and cases because of my sweating.

Took out garbage and recyclables.

Laid on lounge chair and read for 1 hour.
Couldn’t keep my eyes open so back into my bed.

Sister in town, dropped off a lot of goodies for me and the dog.
Gave her a quart of chicken noodle soup from crock pot.

I’ve been watching ALOT of tv lately.
